The End of the Immortal Path
Chapter 593 - 324: What Do You Want?
Chapter 593: Chapter 324: What Do You Want?
Wuyun Sect.
Mr. Bai, having recovered from his injuries, arrived at the flatbread shop. As soon as he arrived, he saw a snow-white fox lying by the door, eyes closed, ignoring the constant flow of people coming and going. However, business at the shop remained poor. Besides him, there was only a woman in a black dress.
He had seen her once before. She seemed to be someone entangled in numerous vortices of trouble. He wasn’t surprised by this; there were many people like her. If she wasn’t someone he cared about, he wouldn’t waste his Heart Spirit on her. Although she harbored quite a few secrets, they definitely couldn’t compare to Jiang Man’s. A man who could marry an ancient woman could not possibly be simple. Not to mention, he was still alive. At such a young age, he already possessed a Late Stage of Primordial Spirit Cultivation and had even solidified his Primordial Spirit. And yet... he didn’t give off that sense of breathtaking brilliance. These achievements alone were far from enough. Perhaps it was still early. The time hadn’t come yet. The great governance of the Immortal Sect had concealed too much from everyone.
Shaking his head, he found a table, sat down, and ordered two flatbreads and some soy milk.
"Do you have any other flavors of flatbread?" Mr. Bai asked.
Song Qing shook his head. "Not yet. Do you have any suggestions, sir?"
Mr. Bai thought for a moment. "How about something with a village flair?"
"Pan-fried flatbread?" Song Qing asked.
Mr. Bai smiled and nodded. "We can give it a try."
"I’ll have to ask our head chef. He knows how to make everything, but he just hasn’t had the chance to show off his skills," Song Qing said.
Song Qing then went inside to ask. Mr. Bai ate his food and soon received an answer.
"We can do that. Mr. Bai, you can eat whatever you want in the future, but you have to tell us in advance, otherwise we won’t have the ingredients ready," Song Qing said. He paused, then continued, "For example, you haven’t been here in a long time. If you didn’t tell us beforehand and we prepared something special, it wouldn’t sell."
Mr. Bai nodded. "Then I suppose I can order custom dishes now. That’s rather interesting."
"Have you been busy with Cultivation lately, Mr. Bai?" Song Qing asked curiously.
Mr. Bai shook his head. "I was recovering from my injuries at home, and I took a trip out to chat with your boss."
Song Qing was a bit surprised and worried. "You went to see our boss? What did you do that for, sir?"
Mr. Bai replied casually, "I just had a few words with him. I informed him that his Dao Companion committed murder and that her family is utterly deplorable."
Hearing this, Song Qing was shocked. "Are you trying to sow discord, sir? Are you trying to ruin our boss’s relationship?"
Mr. Bai, who had been eating his flatbread, raised an eyebrow slightly and looked at Song Qing. "Why would you think that?"
Song Qing was confused. "Isn’t it?"
Mr. Bai asked, "What benefit would I get from them having a falling out?"
"Don’t you have a grudge against them? This counts as revenge," Song Qing said.
Mr. Bai took a sip of soy milk. "When their relationship is at its absolute best, wouldn’t it be much better to kill one of them and leave the other yearning but unable to see them ever again?
"To forcefully tear them apart.
"Moreover, your boss possesses extraordinary Talent. He was meant to come into contact with the things I told him.
"Besides, his Heart Spirit is incredibly strong, so any so-called ’sowing of discord’ is meaningless.
"It’s just that right now, he and his Dao Companion shouldn’t have such deep feelings for each other. However, the fact that she has stayed here all this time shows that things are developing in a positive direction for them.
"Only by knowing everything can they truly understand each other, ensuring that their state of mind won’t be affected when they discover the truth in the future.
"Their feelings will become even more solidified."
Song Qing was stunned. "Are you helping our boss, sir?"
Mr. Bai shook his head once more. "Not quite. It’s complicated. But I’ve always felt that the person fated to kill me should be your boss, even though he doesn’t give off that sense of breathtaking brilliance.
"But what if he really can do it?
"That wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing."
Song Qing couldn’t understand any of this. Didn’t they have a grudge against each other?
To this, Mr. Bai simply said calmly, "Personal grudges are far too insignificant."
Mr. Bai put down his bowl, suddenly remembering something. "I forgot to tell him one other thing. That hypocritical old woman... what a pity."
Song Qing didn’t understand, and Mr. Bai offered no further explanation.
"You should think more about yourself. Your fateful encounters are quite good, but the danger you face is equally great." Saying this, Mr. Bai looked at the White Fox by the door. "You won’t be able to tame this White Fox, but you can treat it a little better. It should at least be able to protect you for a few years.
"As for what happens after that, it will depend on whether your boss intervenes."
Pausing for a moment, Mr. Bai’s gaze fell on Song Qing. "If one day, someone asks you to betray your boss, and threatens to take your life if you refuse...
"What choice would you make?"
"Huh?" Song Qing asked in confusion. "Didn’t I already answer this last time? Wouldn’t that make me an ingrate?"
Mr. Bai chuckled softly. "Exactly. That’s why it’s easy for certain people to treat you as a human being, and being treated as a human being is the most dangerous thing of all. It’s best if you aren’t even considered human in their eyes."
Afterward, Mr. Bai stood up and said, "Your karmic Skills are not bad, but no karmic Skill is ever safe, and yours are no exception. Your moral character is too good, too dazzling. There will always be people who want to destroy it.
"Dazzling things force people to face them head-on.
"Sometimes, killing you is a form of respect."
With that, Mr. Bai strode away.
Song Qing watched him leave. Although he had forgotten many things, he remembered Mr. Bai telling him to treat this fox a little better. It might be somewhat special. Aside from that... being a human was very dangerous. He hesitated a bit. Not being human wasn’t how he wanted to live. However, he decided to find a chance to ask Jiang Man and the others about it.
He then walked over to the White Fox and asked, "Little fox, what do you want to eat?"
The little fox raised an eyebrow slightly, glanced at him, and finally closed its eyes again. It had no intention of paying him any attention. It was also puzzled as to why it had been born here. Logically, it should have been parasitizing a certain descendant. But somehow, it had ended up like this. This place exerted a terrifying pressure that it found difficult to resist.
