Chapter 592: Chapter 323: Is Today What the Young Miss Has Been Waiting For?

But why?

He had asked, but the other party hadn’t given him an answer. Thus, Jiang Man asked curiously, "Is this about what happened over three hundred years ago?"

The man in white nodded slightly. "Yes. If you’re curious, you can slowly ask around. You’ll eventually uncover some information. Furthermore, as your Cultivation grows higher, you’ll learn about it much faster."

Jiang Man frowned. "Senior, why are you telling me all this?"

The man in white chuckled. "Naturally, it’s because I feel you ought to know these things—to see what certain people and certain families are truly like."

"Did you come here specifically to talk about this, Senior?" Jiang Man asked.

The man in white shook his head. "Not exactly. I mainly came for two reasons. First, to witness your brilliance and see how much longer you have to live. Second, I’ve had a lingering question and hoped to get the answer from you."

Jiang Man looked at him. "What is it?"

"I calculated that I will be killed by someone, and the time should be soon, but I couldn’t calculate exactly who it would be." The man in white scrutinized Jiang Man. "I tested the Ji family, and the one who will kill me is not among them. Therefore, I believe this person might turn out to be you. After all, you are bound to the Ji family by marriage. It would be entirely reasonable for you to make a move against me."

Jiang Man was alarmed that such a thing could even be calculated, but he maintained his composure. "Is it me?"

The man in white pondered for a moment before finally sighing. "I can’t tell. It feels like it would be too difficult for your current self to kill me. Even if the three of you joined forces, it would be impossible to kill me."

Jiang Man was secretly startled to realize how hard this man was to kill; it was a good thing he hadn’t made a move.

Eventually, the man in white stood up. "Logically speaking, as long as it is the person who will kill me, I would have a clear premonition the moment I approached them. Looking at it this way, the likelihood of it being you isn’t high. Of course, I can’t rule out the possibility that I made a mistake this time. I should be going."

Jiang Man immediately stopped him. "Please wait a moment, Senior."

The man in white looked back at him.

Expressionless, Jiang Man said, "Senior, you mentioned earlier that if you came over to warm up by the fire, you would inform us about the sect’s expansion plans."

Hearing this, the man in white began to laugh. "You’re different. Truly different. You are remarkably confident. If I had only heard about you from others, I would absolutely believe that you were the one fated to kill me. Now, I’m looking forward to finding out who will eventually end my life even more."

Jiang Man looked at him calmly. "Senior, please share the information first."

The man in white casually tossed down a letter. "Read it yourself." He then strode away, quickly disappearing from everyone’s line of sight.

Only then did Zhuo Qingcheng and the others react. It seemed they had been shielded by an Array.

"Was this left by that mysterious person?" Zhuo Qingcheng asked.

"Did you come here specifically to find him?" He Que asked.

Jiang Man ignored them and focused on the envelope in his hand. However, seeing them staring at him, he finally spoke. "Let me see what’s inside first."

Jiang Man and his group had to visit three sects: the Cyan City Sect, the Sanhe Sect, and the Lingyue Sect.

The letter first detailed the Sanhe Sect, which was the second closest to them. It stated that the Sanhe Sect was colluding with Evil Gods. They already knew about the expansion and were currently cleaning up loose ends, just waiting for Jiang Man’s group to officially absorb them so they could successfully join the Wuyun Sect.

The second part detailed the Lingyue Sect. The Lingyue Sect possessed a special mountain range, and someone had already infiltrated it with the intention of subduing them ahead of time.

Finally, there was the Cyan City Sect. Members of the Evergreen Sect had gone there, aiming to seize control of the sect for themselves.

After reading through all the contents, Jiang Man handed the envelope to the other three. Once they finished, he asked, "Which sect do you think we should go to first?"

"The Sanhe Sect, naturally," He Que said immediately. "An Ancient Sect colluding with Evil Gods won’t treat people as human beings. We need to go there right away and purge the Evil Gods."

Zhuo Qingcheng frowned. "The matter of the Evil Gods is indeed important, but if we delay for too long, the missions for the other two sects might fail. Going to the Sanhe Sect is fine, but we must find a way to resolve the problem quickly."

The group then turned to look at Han Meixue.

She looked baffled. "Are you looking at me because I’m pretty? You can’t possibly be asking for my opinion, right? I’m just a Golden Core, while the three of you are Primordial Spirits."

No one looked at her after that.

Jiang Man stood up. "Since we’re going to the Sanhe Sect, let’s get moving."

He was also quite interested in Evil Gods. If he directly roped the sect in and then reported them, he had no idea how many Spiritual Sources he could get as a reward. He’d strike it rich, wouldn’t he? He just didn’t know if the Zhenyue Bureau would honor the payout. He decided to assess the situation first, discuss it with Miss Ji Meng, and then have her ask Ji Hao to investigate.

"My initial assessment was correct. Although you act recklessly, you can listen to advice. I will record this truthfully; it at least shows you have some redeeming qualities," He Que said.

Hearing this, Zhuo Qingcheng advised, "You should speak less, Senior Brother. For some things, silently doing the work is enough."

He Que scoffed dismissively.

As for Jiang Man, he didn’t pay them any mind at all.

With their itinerary set, he began to ponder the Bai Family Ancestor’s words. The Ji family seemed to be somewhat different from what he had imagined. A lot of people in the Ji family had died. Meng Qiewei had killed twenty-five percent, leaving twenty percent remaining. Where did the missing fifty-five percent go? Why would even Meng Qiewei, the eldest miss of the Ji family, kill so many people herself?

Jiang Man sighed inwardly. These people were more annoying than the last. They all spoke half-truths and withheld the rest. None of them would speak about what happened three hundred years ago. They all expected him to find out on his own once his Cultivation was higher. It was all too secretive.

Shaking his head, Jiang Man decided to question some of the Evil Gods instead—like the Ling Hua Immortal Spirit or Mu Kong. Perhaps he could glean something from them. The Demon Race would also suffice. Like Zhao Tiankuo, for example. He figured Zhao Tiankuo would start looking for him very soon. After all, danger had already arrived, and he wouldn’t be able to survive without seeking out the Old Yellow Ox.

Meanwhile.

Standing atop the mountain peak, the man in white watched Jiang Man and his group leave, his brow slightly furrowed.

"So far, although he’s a bit different, he didn’t give me any sense of surprise, but he is undeniably confident." The man in white carefully sensed his surroundings and sighed. "I don’t detect any dangerous aura. He can’t kill me now, and it will be exceedingly difficult for him to do so in the future. So, is it really him? In theory, he is the most likely candidate."

He couldn’t see the specific details clearly. Due to the Unparalleled Celestial Pride Fate Chart, certain things would always be obscured, and one wouldn’t even be able to perceive that something had been hidden. What seemed perfectly clear on the surface would actually be missing crucial pieces.

"Seeing that I was heavily injured, he didn’t seize the opportunity to attack. I wonder if he simply lacked the killing intent or if he felt he couldn’t pull it off."

The man in white felt it was a pity. None of these people had fallen into his trap. Evil Gods were much easier to deal with; they easily fell right in.

He then turned to leave. "I’ve said all that needs to be said. I wonder how he will view the Ji family and Meng Qiewei now. Even if they’re married, their feelings for each other must be flimsy at best."

With that, he departed completely.

Elsewhere in the city.

Ji Meng gazed at the moonlight, deep in thought. It wasn’t until dawn that she and Qing Dai went to attend their classes as usual.

One day passed, then two. Then three days, then four.

Ji Meng and Qing Dai didn’t do much else; they spent their time cultivating in their small courtyard.

Qing Dai was the most diligent. Her previous advancements had been too fast. Although she understood this realm well enough, that knowledge was based on Ancient Skills. It was completely different from the current New Skills. She originally thought that with her comprehension, any Primordial Spirit would be easy to handle. Unfortunately, she had encountered the Bai Family Ancestor. His understanding was much deeper. Now, she had no choice but to study properly.

However, she noticed that her Miss was also cultivating every day, which was a bit strange. It seemed as though she was merely enduring each passing day. To her, the days seemed to drag on endlessly. Perhaps she had been so infuriated by the Bai Family Ancestor that getting through the days became a struggle.

Another three days passed.

On the eighth day, while in the courtyard, Ji Meng suddenly turned to look at Qing Dai. "How long has Jiang Man been gone?"

"About eight or nine days," Qing Dai answered casually.

Ji Meng nodded. "Has he really not sent a single letter?"

"Mr. Jiang might be traveling, or perhaps he just arrived at his destination to complete his mission and hasn’t had any free time," Qing Dai instinctively defended him.

But soon after, Ji Meng asked for a pen and paper. "In that case, I will write him a letter to see if any accidents have occurred."

Qing Dai froze for a moment. Suddenly, it dawned on her.

Had her Miss been counting the days just so she could wait long enough to have an excuse to write him a letter?
