Chapter 591: Chapter 323: Is Today the Day Miss Has Been Waiting For?

Moonlight illuminated the mountaintop, bringing a chilling edge to the tranquility. The weather in February was naturally freezing. Although Cultivators feared no such cold, the bleak, whistling wind still instilled a sense of awe. In weather like this, the sudden appearance of a white-clad man would put anyone on high alert.

Zhuo Qingcheng observed the man, paying special attention to his injuries. They didn’t look like wounds inflicted by an ordinary person at all.

"Fellow Daoist, our group has urgent matters to attend to. It’s not very convenient," she said, rejecting his implicit request.

Hearing this, the white-clad man smiled. "You mean the Wuyun Sect heading to the Ancient Sect for the recruitment expansion? I actually think you need me by the fire even more. While I’m not overly familiar with these Sects, I can still offer you some advice."

Everyone’s hearts jolted in shock. This was especially true for Jiang Man. He had taken this route specifically to avoid anyone with ulterior motives. Now, it seemed he hadn’t managed to evade this particular schemer at all. They had just stopped to build a fire, and the man had immediately appeared. It was clear that from the very beginning, their whereabouts had never been a secret to him.

"And you are, fellow Daoist?" Zhuo Qingcheng suppressed her astonishment and continued, "How can you be so certain that we are the recruitment personnel?"

The white-clad man smiled faintly. "My surname is Bai. As for why I ran into you, I believe it’s fate." He then looked at Jiang Man. "So, may I share the fire?"

Seeing the man’s gaze fall upon him, Jiang Man felt a jolt of alarm. Surname Bai? Was he Peak Master Bai’s man? It didn’t seem like it. The man possessed an extraordinary bearing, as if he knew everything like the back of his hand. Even the route Mr. Ji had planned for him was easily seen through. Peak Master Bai shouldn’t possess such capabilities. Then who else had the surname Bai? Someone named Bai who could also overpower Mr. Ji. Such an extraordinary person... Jiang Man did know of one. However, this man was injured, which made it unlikely. Jiang Man didn’t immediately dismiss his own theory, deciding to test the waters first.

"Of course," Jiang Man said. Since the man had addressed him directly, he had no way of refusing. After all, now that the stranger had come knocking, failing to figure out his true identity might lead to other unforeseen accidents. He needed to find out the man’s objective first. Furthermore, the stranger was injured; no matter how dangerous he was, they still stood a fighting chance. All Jiang Man had to do now was remain vigilant in case the man attacked first.

The white-clad man then walked over and sat down beside Jiang Man. His gaze lingered almost entirely on him.

"Is there something on my face?" Jiang Man asked curiously.

"I’m interested in the person himself," the white-clad man said, looking at Jiang Man with a smile. "I’ve heard about you for a long time. This could be considered our first formal meeting. Judging by your appearance, you don’t seem all that remarkable."

Jiang Man felt baffled; the man was speaking in riddles. Only those who thought they knew everything would talk in such a strange manner. Old Huang, for instance, or Ting Fengyin. In an instant, Jiang Man was almost certain of who was sitting in front of him. If his guess was right, then it completely made sense how this person had managed to bypass Mr. Ji’s arrangements and track him down directly.

Jiang Man smiled but said nothing. He didn’t know how to respond to the man’s words, so it was better to keep his mouth shut.

The white-clad man casually tossed a piece of wood into the fire. "I heard you’re entering a marriage alliance with the Ji Family?"

Jiang Man nodded, answering truthfully. "Nothing has been finalized yet, but that’s what the rumors say. If you heard about it through the grapevine, fellow Daoist, then they were likely talking about me."

The white-clad man looked at him, a smile playing on his lips. "Do you know much about the Ji Family?"

"They’re wealthy," Jiang Man said earnestly.

"Anything else?" the man asked.

"Is there a need for anything else?" Jiang Man retorted.

The white-clad man was taken aback for a moment before laughing. "Are you really short on Spiritual Sources?"

Jiang Man shook his head. "I am *only* short on Spiritual Sources."

The white-clad man stared at him. "You’re a bit different from what I imagined."

Jiang Man smiled but said nothing. The others were still gathered around them, yet they seemed completely deaf to their conversation. Jiang Man had noticed this early on, though he hadn’t sensed any aura of power being used. The stranger’s mastery and application of power completely surpassed his own.

"To be honest, I’m quite familiar with the Ji Family as well," the white-clad man said, touching his wounds. "The injuries on my body were inflicted by members of the Ji Family.

"When I was young, my parents were killed by the Ji Family. My elder brother and the others met the same fate. Additionally, some of my fortuitous encounters were stolen by them.

"But what makes me feel the most ’familiar’ with them was when I traded with the Ji Family before my Cultivation was successful. I was deceived, severely wounded, and nearly killed by them."

Jiang Man fell silent. That kind of familiarity was definitely way too familiar. It left a person completely at a loss for words. However, by saying this, the man was practically revealing his identity. But why was he acting so boldly, approaching them in a severely injured state? Wasn’t he afraid that Jiang Man would strike and kill him? It was indeed a prime opportunity, but Jiang Man didn’t want to drag his main body into this mess. He hesitated. If he wanted to kill the man, now was truly a golden opportunity.

Pausing for a moment, the white-clad man sighed with some emotion. "But to me, these are actually just personal grudges. At most, I’ll just retaliate against them.

"Yet, when I look at them, I don’t feel that kind of hatred. It’s more of a sense of disdain.

"Simply put, I look down on the Ji Family."

Hearing this, Jiang Man was somewhat surprised. "You look down on the Ji Family? Why?"

The man from the Bai Family looked at Jiang Man and chuckled softly. "You’ll know in the future. If I were their ancestor, I’d itch to kill them all.

"On another note, let me tell you something interesting."

"What is it?" Jiang Man asked, puzzled.

The Bai Family Ancestor smiled. "A Ji Family member surnamed Meng once slaughtered a quarter of the Ji Family. The current number of Ji Family members is only a fifth of what it used to be."

Jiang Man was shocked. Was his wife really that ruthless? No wonder the Ji Family members were always asking if he had been killed yet. So there was a precedent after all.
