Chapter 590: Chapter 322: Returning Home in Glory

Wang Yan brought Luo Xuan and Cheng Yu along.

There were two others as well. One was an assistant like Wang Yan, and the other was an overseer.

Fang Yong said nothing. He simply took out his Token, which had gold-inlaid edges.

Upon seeing it, the overseer merely smiled and said that Senior Brother Fang was in charge of everything.

Fang Yong didn’t care about the overseer’s true thoughts. He had Senior Sister Wang on his side. She was Wei Ran’s subordinate. Wei Ran possessed astonishing Talent and wasn’t far from reaching the Primordial Spirit stage; it would only take a few more years. Therefore, the overseer stood to gain absolutely nothing by opposing them.

"Such a grand lineup?" Xiaopang asked Fang Yong curiously.

"This mission is rather special." Fang Yong looked at Xiaopang. "Perhaps you won’t be so idle after you go back, either."

"I get scolded every day when I’m back. What could I possibly do?" Xiaopang said dismissively. He then pulled out some dried meat and handed a piece to Fang Yong.

Taking the dried meat, Fang Yong chuckled lightly. "You’ll know once you return."

Xiaopang looked around. After confirming that the others were quite a distance away, he finally asked, "Young Master Fang, Brother Jiang said the Sect is expanding its recruitment and the Luo Family is going to rise. Is that true?"

Hearing this, Fang Yong was quite surprised. "Luo Xuan’s family?"

Xiaopang nodded.

Fang Yong didn’t give him an answer because he didn’t know the specifics. After Xiaopang gave him a rough explanation, Fang Yong was astonished. He hadn’t expected such a thing to happen. If that was the case, then they were indeed going to rise. He paused for a moment and looked at Xiaopang curiously. "The Gao Family doesn’t have a Primordial Spirit cultivator, do they?"

Xiaopang immediately nodded. "No. Does that mean Miss Luo won’t be restricted by the Gao Family anymore, and won’t be forced to stay in my little shop?"

Fang Yong looked at him. "Is there something wrong with Miss Luo?"

Xiaopang was taken aback. "Does Young Master Fang think there’s something good about me?"

Fang Yong was stunned and didn’t reply.

"I feel like Miss Luo isn’t from the same world as us. When she suddenly came up to talk to me, I felt she had an ulterior motive. Otherwise, what could she possibly be after? My fat? My uselessness?" Xiaopang said.

Fang Yong paused. "Don’t lump me in with you."

Xiaopang continued, "Besides, other than Brother Jiang, who would look for a partner stronger than themselves? Isn’t that just asking for a beating? Wouldn’t it be better to have a harem?"

He paused, glanced around, and quickly added, "Brother Jiang definitely wouldn’t like a harem."

Seeing Fang Yong remain silent, Xiaopang whispered, "And Brother Jiang told me to focus on Cultivation. He said if I work harder and stay up late at night, reaching the Golden Core stage is within reach."

Fang Yong looked at Xiaopang and finally said, "If it were Jiang Man, he would have already started his Cultivation by now. You aren’t working hard enough."

Xiaopang was speechless. In the end, he was forced to begin his Cultivation.

Behind them, Luo Xuan and Cheng Yu sat together, watching Fang Yong and Xiaopang up ahead.

"What kind of mission requires so many Golden Core cultivators?" Luo Xuan asked.

"Young Master Fang didn’t say," Cheng Yu replied, shaking her head. Then, she asked curiously, "If what Jiang Man said comes true, what do you plan to do?"

If the Luo Family truly saw the return of a Primordial Spirit expert, their status would change entirely. The Gao Family might have a few Golden Core cultivators, and Xiaopang’s older brother might have entered the Inner Sect, but becoming a Primordial Spirit cultivator was incredibly difficult. The Gao Family would no longer be comparable to the Luo Family. Moreover, Luo Xuan’s Cultivation level was higher than Xiaopang’s. She surpassed him in every aspect.

The world was truly unpredictable.

"What if it were you?" Luo Xuan asked Cheng Yu.

"Me?" Cheng Yu smiled. "I don’t have a choice. No matter how powerful our ancestor becomes, it has nothing to do with me. What I need to do right now is try my best to stay by Young Master Fang’s side. I’ll do the things he wants to do but isn’t good at, and occasionally prepare some food for him to deepen his impression of me. Otherwise, if some random person comes along and replaces me, wouldn’t I be finished?"

After a moment of silence, Cheng Yu suddenly asked, "What do you think of Young Master Gao?"

"What do I think of him in what way?" Luo Xuan asked.

"In every aspect. That’s the question you should be considering," Cheng Yu said with a serious expression. "You can’t keep thinking about your family anymore. As the eldest daughter, you do shoulder certain responsibilities, but you’ve already borne enough of them. It’s time to stop. At this point, don’t look at things from the perspective of the Luo Family’s eldest daughter; look at them from your own personal perspective. What do you personally want, rather than whether your desires benefit the family?"

Luo Xuan remained silent for a long time, saying nothing.

Cheng Yu continued, "Don’t underestimate this choice. It might be the most important turning point of your life. Take me, for example, back when I had to decide whether to bet all my chips on Young Master Fang. That was probably the most correct decision I’ve ever made."

"We’re almost there," Wang Yan announced.

The two women stopped talking. They quickly stood up, as Luoyun City was just ahead.

Their destination was the Yunqian Bureau. Whenever the Sect issued a mission, the Yunqian Bureau was usually the one to receive it. As they approached the bureau, Luo Xuan and the others were surprised to see that preparations to welcome them were already in place. Moreover, there were far more people than they had anticipated.

When they drew closer, Luo Xuan and the others were stunned, involuntarily standing up straighter. A massive crowd was gathered below.

Luo Xuan’s parents, Cheng Yu’s parents, and Xiaopang’s parents were there, alongside representatives from the Luo Family, Cheng Family, Gao Family, Li Family, and Fang Family. Every prominent figure in Luoyun City was present without exception. Furthermore, these were no ordinary people—they were all the Patriarchs and heads of their respective households.

The girls couldn’t understand why such a grand reception had been organized.

Luo Xuan and Cheng Yu exchanged a glance before fixing their eyes on Fang Yong at the very front. It was obvious that the crowd was here to welcome Fang Yong’s group.

Soon, their flying swords brought them down before the gathered crowd. Seeing them arrive, everyone bowed their heads in greeting.

Wang Yan stepped forward. "I assume you have all received the official dispatch," she said to the crowd. "Allow me to make an introduction." She stood in front of Fang Yong and continued, "This is the chief supervisor of this recruitment expansion, Fang Yong."

Upon seeing Fang Yong, everyone’s pupils contracted. Luo Huaili in particular finally realized what kind of genius he had missed out on. However, seeing that Luo Xuan had returned alongside them, the Luo Family could breathe a sigh of relief.

The Gao Family Patriarch also lamented losing such a genius, but when he saw his youngest son standing right next to Fang Yong, he was dumbfounded.

With a relationship like that, how could that brat claim he didn’t know who the supervisor was? The man was literally sharing a sword flight with him! What a rebellious son, completely useless to his family.

Fortunately, it seemed the Gao Family would smoothly survive this ordeal.

When Patriarch Cheng saw the arrivals, his pupils shrank, especially when he spotted Cheng Yu among them. He immediately ordered his servants to fetch Cheng Yu’s mother right away so she could stand by his side.

Meanwhile, Jiang Man was still traveling via Sword Control. Their journey was a long one, as they had to visit three Sects.

They would start from the nearest one. The Lingyue Sect was the furthest away, but it was also likely the most unique, as it housed a Sword Tomb. Once they assimilated it, the Sword Tomb would belong to their Sect and be requisitioned if needed. Of course, this was only if it proved useful; the Sect wouldn’t waste effort on something insignificant. But since it was a Sword Sect possessing original Sword Intent, it would undoubtedly be of great use.

Later, Jiang Man stopped on a wooded mountain and announced, "Let’s rest here for a while."

"We’ve only just set out. There’s no need to rest yet," He Que objected.

"Does Junior Brother want to rest or not?" Jiang Man asked, looking at him.

"What do you mean?" He Que asked.

"If you don’t want to rest, then keep going," Jiang Man said calmly.

This resting spot had been provided by Ji Hao, but they would need to change locations later. This would help them avoid the tracking efforts of certain individuals.

He Que remained silent for a moment before taking out a pen and paper to write. "I will meticulously record any passive and lazy behavior."

"As long as the mission is completed, isn’t Senior Brother being a bit too rigid?" Zhuo Qingcheng chimed in.

Han Meixue followed up, "Senior Brother, do you want to see if I look pretty?"

"Sect expansion is our top priority," He Que said earnestly. "It should be accomplished as soon as possible, rather than leaving the people out there to continue suffering. With our supervisor wasting time like this, how many people outside will die? Just because our lives have improved since we started our Cultivation in the Sect, have you all forgotten the hardships of the villages? If things are this bad even within the Immortal Sect’s governed territories, it must be far more miserable outside."

Jiang Man didn’t care. He certainly lacked any sort of savior complex. As things stood, he still needed to prioritize his own safety.

In the end, they stayed behind to rest. Jiang Man planned to switch to a different route late in the night. For now, his first task was Cultivation to relieve the pressure on his Physical Body.

However, shortly after nightfall, he sensed someone approaching via Sword Control. A man dressed in white, bearing injuries, drew near and asked softly, "May I borrow your fire to warm myself?"
