Wuyun Sect.

Outer Sect.

Inside a small courtyard.

An Array suddenly lit up in the courtyard. A figure materialized, then slammed heavily onto the dirt, spraying blood. His arm was nearly snapped in two, and a gaping hole marred his chest. Sprawled on the ground, his life force flickered faintly. He looked as though he might die at any second. ℯ

However, this faint aura was remarkably stable, showing no signs of further deterioration. Mr. Bai opened his eyes and furrowed his brows, his face contorting in pain.

"How ruthless. I almost couldn’t escape," Mr. Bai rasped, his body barely able to move.

Yet, streams of energy circulated over him, rapidly stabilizing his injuries. The bleeding slowed at a visible rate until it finally stopped. After a long time, he slowly sat up.

"It seems it really wasn’t them."

Mr. Bai coughed twice and thought to himself, "If they couldn’t kill me under those circumstances, it proves someone else was the one who killed me.

"Who would make a move against me?

"I don’t know when he’ll come.

"However, killing Meng Qiewei needs to be put on the agenda."

The most important reason he had come out was to kill Meng Qiewei and send her back. That way, he could return with peace of mind. Otherwise, it would be far too much of a pity.

Once she died, it would be as difficult as ascending the heavens for her to come out again. Impotent rage was his absolute favorite thing to see from her.

"A rising star who hasn’t spent much time in the Primordial Spirit Realm—what does she have to fight me with?"

Afterward, Mr. Bai changed his clothes and went out again. He cast a slightly regretful glance toward the Inner Sect. If they had charged over just now, it would have directly drawn the attention of the Sect’s people. Using that to send her back wouldn’t have been entirely impossible to orchestrate.

Since they were out here, they had to abide by certain rules. The Immortal Sect was just waiting to catch them slipping up so they could send them back.

Mr. Bai withdrew his gaze and looked outside the Sect. Jiang Man had gone out, and he wanted to have a chat with him. Since someone wanted to kill him, there was a certain possibility that this person was related to Jiang Man. After all, the two were husband and wife. No matter what, they shared a bond unlike any typical mission security. It was entirely possible that Jiang Man would make a move against him.

Inner Sect.

Ji Meng’s courtyard.

Ji Meng’s face was slightly pale, and Qing Dai also bore an injury on her arm.

"We couldn’t finish him off," Qing Dai said coldly. "He seems to possess a multitude of strange methods, and he came prepared."

Ji Meng drank some water and said calmly, "It’s fine. Cultivate well, and we can kill him."

Qing Dai looked at her Miss, feeling a bit of trepidation. She was unsure of what Ji Meng was thinking, but this lack of murderous intent was in itself a terrifying kind of murderous intent.

His words had indeed been rather audacious. If this were within the territory of the Immortal Sect, there was no telling what might have happened.

However, she truly had no idea how to kill that man from the Bai Family. He knew a great deal about the methods that could be wielded with a Primordial Spirit. Furthermore, he had mobilized numerous external elements to build his momentum. If it weren’t for her Miss’s formidable strength, it really would have been difficult to make him suffer a loss.

But even so, they had failed to take him down.

Currently, she was out of options. She was also unsure what kind of plan her Miss might have. Besides, that man from the Bai Family definitely possessed a counter-kill trick up his sleeve. Thoroughly defeating him would actually be extremely difficult. Especially as time went on, he would undoubtedly resort to any means necessary—because he was running out of time.

Coupled with the feud between him and her Miss, it would drive him to do even crazier things. For now, they could only wait and continue to elevate their Primordial Spirit-related powers.

Next time, they would have a higher chance of ending him.

After Jiang Man left.

Fang Yong also arrived at the Outer Sect, planning to head back with Xiaopang and the others. Today, Luo Xuan had sought out Luo Lu.

"I really envy you," Luo Lu couldn’t help but sigh. "To achieve Foundation Establishment like this... no one in our family could ever do the same."

"It’s all thanks to Young Master Gao," Luo Xuan said truthfully.

Luo Lu looked rather helpless. "I didn’t expect it to end like this, but we really did rely on the Gao Family. The fact that we have this much stability is all because the Gao Family lent a helping hand." She paused for a moment before asking curiously, "Did you suddenly look for me today because you’re heading back? I actually wanted to write a letter home."

Hearing this, Luo Xuan shook her head slightly and said, "Actually, I wanted to tell you something, Cousin."

Luo Lu was puzzled. "What is it? Is there more trouble at home?"

Ever since the incident involving their family, she had become somewhat afraid of hearing news from home. Because it was never good news. Every single time, it weighed heavily on her, making her miserable.

She needed to work hard. She needed to improve herself. She needed to reach Core Formation.

But she had already tried her best. She was terrified that the family’s heavy expectations would completely crush her. In truth, she just wanted to hold her head high and get along well with the people around her.

But many things in life were just like that—unsatisfactory.

She could only keep her head down as much as possible, avoid unnecessary trouble, and strive to move forward. She hoped that one day, she could achieve something and break them out of this predicament.

It was a beautiful hope, but reality wasn’t something that could be overcome by hope alone.

Luo Xuan shook her head slightly, then lowered her voice. "I don’t dare to say too much, but I did receive some news. There might be a massive change happening back home."

Luo Lu’s heart raced as she asked, "Is the Luo Family finally unable to hold on anymore?"

Luo Xuan shook her head, leaned in close, and whispered into her cousin’s ear, "It might be a good thing. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself, Cousin. Just wait for the news with peace of mind. However, I can’t guarantee if it’s truly going to be good."

Shortly after, Fang Yong and the others arrived. Luo Xuan mentioned she had to head back and bid Luo Lu farewell, leaving her standing there with a bewildered expression.

"Good news?" she wondered.

She couldn’t bring herself to believe it. There had been "good news" before, and it had always ended up turning into bad news.

Still, a sliver of anticipation lingered in her heart.

Fang Yong utilized Sword Control, taking flight with Xiaopang riding along on his Flying Sword.
