Chapter 638: Chapter 344: The World Has Started Playing Tricks on Me

That evening, a layer of tangerine clouds burned across the horizon as Jiang Man returned to his residence to continue his Cultivation.

Seeing the Tengu still squatting in the corner sulking, not having changed its posture once, he asked about it out of curiosity. Old Huang simply said that it wanted some alone time. Jiang Man didn’t pay it much mind and instead focused on improving his remaining capacity.

By mid-November, Jiang Man had purchased enough Elixirs from Ji Meng. Out of his initial million or so Spiritual Sources, only two hundred thousand remained. The Void-Invoking Winter Yuan Pill was simply too expensive.

At the end of November, the fourth Gourd of Jiang Man’s Cultivation was completely filled, leaving no room for further advancement. Now, only his Physical Body was lacking. Once the Flesh Body Gourd was full, his Primordial Spirit Realm would reach its peak. All that would be left was mastering the control of his power.

On this day, Jiang Man and Ji Meng attended Mr. Yan’s class.

"In a few days, Mr. Ji will come over to assess your application of power, so you all need to prepare," Mr. Yan said listlessly. It was as if she were the one being tested, leaving her visibly nervous and uncomfortable.

Jiang Man didn’t feel much pressure; he hadn’t reached that stage yet. However, he was getting close. He figured Mr. Ji would be able to understand his situation.

After class ended, Jiang Man sought out Fang Yong.

"Young Master Fang, hasn’t the other side contacted you?" Jiang Man asked curiously. It had been quite a while since there was any news from the opposing Gold Master. It made him slightly worried—had they just given up?

"Are you out of Spiritual Sources?" Fang Yong asked.

Jiang Man paused. "Do you have any?"

Fang Yong immediately shook his head. "No." He paused for a moment, deep in thought. "They really haven’t sought me out. What about your poison?"

"It’s pretty much gone," Jiang Man answered truthfully. After the last time he used it, it had dissipated completely. The poison was no more.

"Then you need to be careful. The fact that they can wait this long probably means they assume you’re still poisoned. Now that you’re not, they’ll make their next move," Fang Yong said after some consideration. "I met a spy from the Demon Race on the outside."

Jiang Man pondered this. He had offended the Celestial Demon, but the entity they knew of should be Zui Fusheng. The name "Jiang Man" held no enmity for them.

"We can use them to see if we can establish a connection with the Evil God spies. But it’s fine if it’s just the Demon Race; they’ll prove useful eventually," Jiang Man reassured him. After all, with the rumors surrounding the Ji Family, the Demon Race would definitely pay attention sooner or later.

Afterward, Jiang Man instructed Fang Yong to keep a closer eye on their previous Gold Master. He told him to freely use whatever ideas or methods he had without worrying if the tactics were too ruthless. Employing them would always yield some form of feedback. For example, the poisoning attempt had actually succeeded, even if it failed to bring him down. He needed to maintain a good relationship with the Gold Master so he wouldn’t give up.

Fang Yong looked at Jiang Man, feeling that sometimes, this guy was even more shameless than he was.

Back at his residence, Jiang Man felt the time was right. He used Zui Fusheng’s Token to reply to the Red Eagle, agreeing to establish communication.

Three days later, the Red Eagle sent him another message and simultaneously set up a communication channel between him and Zui Fusheng. By doing this, he could officially act as Zui Fusheng’s spokesperson. He immediately relayed the news to the Ling Hua Immortal Spirit.

In response, the other side provided the identity of a spy from the Sun and Moon Immortal Path as a welcoming gift. Jiang Man looked at the spy roster with some surprise—it was actually someone from the Inner Sect. This made the information quite valuable.

Moreover, they passed along a message claiming there was another extremely crucial spy within the Sun and Moon Immortal Path. Not only that, but they emphasized her exceptional skill in gathering intelligence and her vast knowledge of the ancient Evil Gods. The implication was clear: she was qualified to trade with a prominent figure like Zui Fusheng.

Jiang Man quickly responded, asking what they wanted to know or what they intended to do. When the other party notified the Ling Hua Immortal Spirit, they requested a face-to-face meeting with Jiang Man, wanting to avoid involving too many people. Jiang Man naturally agreed. After all, he needed to use them to locate the Supreme Heart Hall and, on top of that, obtain information about the Water God from them.

Amidst the foggy ruins.

Jiang Man materialized in the area. It didn’t take long to get here from the ruined temple. The ruins were shrouded in a heavy mist, with dead vines crawling over the broken walls and dilapidated structures. The gravel on the ground was damp from the fog, completely absorbing the sound of his footsteps.

"What message do you want me to pass on?" Jiang Man asked.

Tantai Xue was seated on a tall chair within the ruins, brought from who knew where. Her legs were crossed, one hand resting on her chin while the fingertips of the other unconsciously traced circles on the armrest. Tilting her chin up slightly, she looked down at Jiang Man. "The question we discussed last time."

Jiang Man looked puzzled.

"Why did Zui Fusheng appear in the Black Spirit Abyss?" Tantai Xue clarified. "You said it was to prevent turmoil within the Immortal Sects. I want to know the specifics."

Hearing this, Jiang Man looked at her, his eyes revealing a hint of peculiarity. "Are you really choosing to ask Zui Fusheng instead of me?"

Tantai Xue paid no mind to his probing question. "This way, you’ll also get to know what the person involved thinks, won’t you?"

"Fine, I’ll wait for his reply. Besides that, what do you plan to use as payment?" Jiang Man asked.

Tantai Xue took out two envelopes. "Pick one of two options. The first is information regarding the situation and condition of that Array Evil God, though it lacks a specific location.

"The second is about a crucial spy from the Sun and Moon Immortal Path. Rumor has it that this spy is involved in a rather significant plot. The one in direct contact with him is a Great Evil God.

"I believe it’s the same Great Evil God who tried to locate Zui Fusheng previously. Just pass that exact message along to him."

Having said all this, Tantai Xue added that ten thousand Spiritual Sources wasn’t much, so they would proceed through the normal channels. The normal channel was the flatbread shop.

After waiting for him to leave, Tantai Xue also departed from the ruins and returned to her residence.

"How did it go?" Tantai Xiaotian inquired.

Tantai Xue smiled brightly. "He couldn’t act all high and mighty today. He actually wanted me to ask him instead—in his dreams! He’s weak and loves to show off, so I just refused to give him the chance."
