The Enhanced Doctor
Chapter 1465: Raising Kids Isn’t Easy
Some illnesses genuinely yield immediate effects.
The child patient who had scurvy due to a Vitamin C deficiency regained the ability to move his limbs after supplementation.
His parents were truly overjoyed. As for whether Liu Banxia found it necessary to perform the tracheal intubation, they didn’t give it a second thought.
It’s no big deal.
The child’s condition seemed severe but was actually a simple issue, which was the happiest outcome.
Before getting off work, Liu Banxia also checked on the little patient, who was looking more lively now, so he felt relieved.
Even though treating this illness was straightforward, the child had shown signs of bleeding. It was indeed potentially dangerous, fortunately, it was under control.
Now he can leave work peacefully, otherwise, he’d still be worried about this little patient.
If it were an adult, he wouldn’t think too much about it, but little patients do have a special place.
“Where has Yanzi gone off to? Is she in a relationship? She’s often not home in the evenings lately.”
Returning home and not seeing Wang Xiaoyan, Liu Banxia was somewhat curious.
“I’ve been hoping she’s in a relationship. Nowadays, many are taking yoga, some are even working professionals, so she’s added an evening class to earn enough for her future husband,” Qiaoqiao said.
“Wow, she’s really working hard. She’s working tirelessly; who’s going to help us take care of the kids?” Liu Banxia said, feeling a bit troubled.
“What are you saying? We can’t just keep Yanzi tied up,” Peng Xiuqin said with a laugh.
“Mom, it’s like she’s getting advanced training. Once she’s taken care of a round of kids, she’ll be more prepared when she has her own. Isn’t that right, my big girl?” Liu Banxia said, nudging his daughter’s little foot.
The second baby, who was happily watching Tang Dou’s head play, gave him a sidelong glance, her mouth beginning to pout. Just as she was about to cry loudly, Liu Banxia picked her up, swinging her joyfully in his arms.
The second baby decided, well, since you’re trying so hard, let’s not cry, this is actually quite fun.
“Alright, put her down and let her play by herself, let’s eat,” Qiaoqiao said.
“When you’re not home, who can play with them like this? Now, it’s Tang Dou and its kids who are helping take care of the two of them.”
“You said the stitches don’t need removal, are you sure there’s really no issue? Will this surgery affect their self-esteem? This morning, when I took them for a walk, they didn’t seem as happy as before.”
Liu Banxia rubbed Tang Dou and its kids’ heads, “Don’t worry, it’s just temporary. Without the trouble of the mating season, it actually benefits their health.”
“Now we’re much more at ease; we can take them out to play anytime. Look at others, whether big dogs or little dogs, they’re all taking walks at off-peak times lately.”
“Hahaha, that’s true, otherwise they can’t be controlled. Today, I saw a small poodle determined to meet the poodle from Block 9 for a date, but it wasn’t even as tall as the other one’s legs,” Qiaoqiao said with a laugh.
“Haha, no wonder you’re eager for dinner; turns out it’s chicken stewed with mushrooms. These mushrooms look quite good, are they the ones brought by Su Wenhao?” Liu Banxia asked.
“Yes, he brought them; they’re much tastier than those sold outside. The ones sold outside aren’t just expensive, but don’t taste as good as these,” Qiaoqiao said.
“I really enjoy these mushrooms; Su Wenhao was planning to open a small restaurant. If I source these mushrooms from him for Jinbao’s chicken stew, how about that?”
“That’s your decision; it’s a small matter, not something you need to involve me,” Liu Banxia said earnestly.
Qiaoqiao rolled her eyes, “Mom, you have to talk to him, he’s speaking so sarcastically, making it seem like I’m bullying him.”
“Qiaoqiao, you just don’t bully him enough; he needs more guidance,” Peng Xiuqin said.
Liu Banxia, holding his rice bowl, felt helpless, “Mom, I’m your own son after all.”
“So what? I consider Qiaoqiao my own daughter too. Sometimes seeing you not at home day after day makes me quite frustrated,” Peng Xiuqin said.
“Haha, I know mom treats me the best—pass me a chicken wing,” Qiaoqiao happily served a piece of chicken wing.
“Since you love mushrooms, eat more of them, and also the chicken leg. You and Yanzi each have one. There’s food left in the pot for her; it’s all in the clay pot,” Peng Xiuqin said.
“Kids, grow up fast, so you can support your dad,” Liu Banxia said, looking at the two little ones beside him playing with their hands.
They ignored him, since biting their hands was a delight.
“I guess I’ll let it go; I won’t trouble Su Wenhao about it. We use a lot here; won’t he have to bring over more mushrooms for us?” Qiaoqiao said.
“Aren’t Jinbao’s mushrooms also collected from the mountains?” Liu Banxia asked.
“They have changed hands at least twice, increasing not just the price but also reducing the quality. Just smell how fragrant these mushrooms are,” Qiaoqiao said.
“It’s not just the red mushrooms, the small yellow mushrooms are fragrant too. When dad comes over, with small yellow mushrooms stir-fried with meat and eggs, it’s delicious,” she said.
“What’s my father-in-law up to lately? Should be coming over soon, right?” Liu Banxia asked.
“Who knows, he’s out playing around every day. Once he comes over, the two kids won’t even recognize him, let’s see what he does then.” Qiaoqiao said angrily.
Liu Banxia wanted to laugh, but didn’t dare to.
Despite Qiaoqiao’s complaints, she’s actually hoping Old Qiao will stay here longer. But Old Qiao’s business is over there, he really can’t leave for too long.
I must say, today’s chicken soup is truly delicious. Rich in mushroom flavor, not greasy at all, Liu Banxia drank more than half a bowl.
After eating to his fill, his daily task is to mess around with his son and daughter.
These two little ones, they’re quite interesting now.
When he first came home, they seemed a bit dismissive of him. But when he starts playing with them? They’re beyond thrilled.
Qiaoqiao finds it a headache to watch, spending every day building relationships, yet it’s not as effective as him coming back to stir up their affection.
“Today we treated a child who got scurvy because his family paid him too much attention, he ate whatever he wanted.” Liu Banxia said after placing the first child on his stomach.
“At home he eats occasionally, but at Grandma’s it’s all meat and milk every meal, along with continuous supply of snacks. In the future, we should make our two eat more vegetables, meat is fine in moderation.”
“Them? Appetite is great.” Qiaoqiao casually puts the second baby on his stomach too.
“Now they’re on solid food, despite eating quite a bit, the formula is still a must until they’re full. Missing even a drop, and they won’t have it, becoming real gluttons in the future.”
“Eating well means growing fast, right now their activities are limited. Once their bodies develop further and they start crawling around, it’ll be quite a handful.” Liu Banxia said.
“Should we tie a long rope to their waists at that time, at least control their activity range a bit?”
“We’ll see then, I’m worried too. Mom watches them every day and it’s really tiring, while also having to cook for us. Do you think we should hire a nanny?” Qiaoqiao asked.
“Better not, if we hire a nanny, she might think we don’t like her cooking anymore, and get stressed out.” Liu Banxia replied.
“Yeah… makes sense.” Qiaoqiao nodded.
Right now, the two little ones at home prefer Grandma over their biological mom. She wants to do better, but skill-wise she’s still lacking compared to Peng Xiuqin.
She’s constantly pondering how to make her good mother-in-law live easier, but hasn’t found a good solution yet.
Hiring a nanny, that was her last resort, but thinking about it now, it seems unreliable.
“How about this, next time you go to Jinshui District Hospital or your hometown hospital for surgery, I won’t go with you.” Qiaoqiao said.
“If I go, the two babies have to go too, and Mom will definitely follow. Even though the ride isn’t long, being outside with them is quite stressful.”
“Alright, I’ll follow your lead. I’ll work harder to bring along Xu Yino and the others sooner, so I can relax a bit.” Liu Banxia nodded.
“After all, you’re the boss in our family, you call the shots. I contribute the least in this home, I want to help more, but just can’t manage.”
“As long as you understand, just listen obediently in the future.” Qiaoqiao pinched his nose playfully.
“Hehe, how about leaving the two little ones on the bed to sleep tonight?” Liu Banxia suggested.
“No way, if they get the habit of sleeping on the bed, it’ll be tough to get them back to the small bed later.” Qiaoqiao quickly replied.
“Just accompany them for another half hour, shake your stomach a few more times, they love playing like that. They play until they’re sleepy, then we can get a peaceful night’s sleep.”
Liu Banxia nodded, diligently bouncing his stomach.
Taking care of kids is truly hard, managing two babies together is even harder.
And this is just the beginning; as the two little ones grow up, there’ll be increasingly more things to worry about.
At least the burden of learning will fall on Qiaoqiao’s shoulders.
He realizes that all family matters are managed by Qiaoqiao, and he’s just an idle manager, which is a bit crappy.
But currently, he really can’t help, everyone is considerate of him, avoiding assigning him night shifts.
Otherwise, if he busied for a whole month, he might hardly get a good night’s sleep.
Just have to endure, look for opportunities to make it up to Qiaoqiao.
Although the debt will only accumulate more and more.
