The Evil God Summoned by the Saintess
Chapter 679: Two Days
“It’s not a solution to continue like this.”
Watching some of the mysterious tendrils penetrate the protective net formed by dense thorns and turn into strange gelatinous material within, continuing to spread toward the ice wall, everyone’s expression turned serious.
The captain looked at Hilia: “Miss Xi, can this thing be attacked with high-intensity Magic?”
During the last two days in this special ‘underground world,’ they had suffered greatly and were afraid to use Magic casually.
Even though they had just cut off the things formed by these strange tendrils with Attack Magic, they now didn’t dare use Magic too strong, fearing it might rebel again.
They had never encountered such a situation and were somewhat apprehensive and bound at this moment.
They all turned their gaze to Hilia.
Hilia’s gaze was deep and thoughtful, carefully observing the slowly eroding material.
She recalled Rose’s words about this subspace containing the body structure of the God of Life and Death, Haroldias.
A complete body structure, if something invades, its… immune system would surely respond.
Actually, this world also has fundamental education, and there is definitely its own research in exploring body structures — after all, Rose almost managed to play Magic Runes technology into galactic exploration.
So, Hilia could understand some of the vocabulary Rose used.
“If viewed as the body’s ‘immune system,’ these strange tendrils are the so-called ‘immune cells,’ right? When the temperature rises, is it like how regular people catch a cold and get a fever?”
A strange feeling emerged in Hilia’s heart.
Could Gods get a fever too?
Or maybe it’s a reaction Gods specifically made for bodily integrity?
Hilia couldn’t understand.
But she did know one thing.
Even if they cleared away all these tendrils, it would be futile, as more tendrils would come rushing over.
It’s like with the human immune system; either the virus dies, or the person does.
The immune system never admits defeat, only victory.
So, there’s no advantage to eliminating these tendrils, it would only excite the ‘immune system,’ causing more tendrils to emerge.
After contemplating for a moment, Hilia said: “Don’t attack these strange tendrils at will, just like the first time you eliminated them, it will cause more tendrils to come over, and like those demons outside, they will grow stronger.”
The captain nodded seriously.
“It seems attack is not viable.”
A team member asked: “Then what do we do? Continue defending with Magic?”
Hilia shook her head: “I’m afraid that won’t work either. If these tendrils fail to conquer us for a long time, they will also intensify their offensive until we are destroyed.”
Lanna was dumbfounded: “Neither attacking nor defending works, how are we supposed to deal with this?”
Hilia said: “Perhaps we could find a way to make this place ‘accept’ us, stop seeing us as enemies.”
“How would we do that?” asked the captain.
“I don’t know.” Hilia never lied in these aspects.
“If even Miss Xi doesn’t know, aren’t we stuck here?”
“Maybe we can break through and get out?”
“This doesn’t seem to be the underground connected to the pollution source; we’ve tried heading that direction before but didn’t find the entrance to the pollution source.”
“Is it really possible to come in but not go out?”
“What does Miss Xi think?”
After much discussion, a group of Royal Court Guardian Mages, almost clueless about adventure, finally turned to Hilia.
Hilia pondered and said: “Let’s stall for time first, let me observe a bit more.”
“Alright!”
Hilia did not retract the ice wall, which served as the final safeguard.
Meanwhile, the others began to reweave the network to fend off the strange substance trying to infiltrate.
Hilia released her Spiritual Power and began to perceive these strange things.
At that moment, Rose’s voice appeared in her mind.
“Two days.”
“Wha… Lord Rose means Phil needs two days?”
“Yes.”
Hilia was relieved in her heart.
Having a concrete timeframe makes things manageable.
No matter how intense the ‘immune system’s’ attacks become, as long as you can see the countdown to victory, it is not a problem.
The real fear is resisting aimlessly, seeing no end in sight.
“Two days could be a bit hard to endure, hang in there.” Rose offered encouragement.
Hilia’s heart jumped.
Even Gods say it’s hard to endure, then…
Hilia looked outside at the ‘immune system’ eroding the defense net and decided to observe during this time, see if she could find a way to make the ‘immune system’ ignore them.
“According to what Lord Rose said, these tendrils attack us because of our wandering all over God’s body these days.”
“Now, we need to find a way for the ‘immune system’ to judge us as having no malice and possessing the ability to ‘coexist’ with the body in order for these tendrils to stop attacking…”
If viewing them as ‘virus,’ the past two days of wandering might have been their ‘incubation period.’
After the incubation period ends, they affected the ‘body,’ prompting the ‘immune system’ to react, the body starting to heat up, ‘immune cells’ attacking them until they are completely eliminated.
So, how can bacteria or similar things coexist with the body?
Hilia fell into deep thought.
Her contemplation failed.
She was not a biologist.
So, she completely didn’t understand how to avoid an immune rejection reaction.
“If only Benovia were here.”
Hilia couldn’t help but miss Benovia’s vast knowledge.
Perhaps, because Rose is here, Benovia doesn’t know more about ancient knowledge than her.
But current knowledge of various kinds, Benovia surely understands better.
If she were here, she could definitely find a way to evade these tendrils’ attacks.
“Give it a try.”
As time slowly passed by.
The defense net woven by Tier Four and Five Mages, layer upon layer, prevented the infiltrating tendrils from nearing them.
Then, they felt the surrounding temperature increasing.
Even the sound of ‘heartbeats’ grew louder.
Soon after, they perceived the corrosion’s intensity increasing, needing to consume more Magic Power to weave the defense net and resist the strong corrosiveness.
Lanna, feeling her rapidly depleting Magic Power, said with a frown: “Since attacking and defending both make them stronger, let’s just use Tier Four and Five Magic to eliminate them, then we can have time to rest.”
Hilia said calmly: “If you want these tendrils to quickly grow stronger, then do just that.”
“Listen to Miss Xi, let’s distribute now, take turns fighting, one team fighting, one team Meditating to restore Magic Power.”
Hilia said: “Two days, give me two days.”
“Alright! Two days, easy peasy!”
