The Evil God Summoned by the Saintess
Chapter 680: Deadly Countdown
In two days, Lanna felt they should be able to handle it easily.
Judging by the strengthening speed of these tentacles, they might get pushed closer, but they should hold up.
However, these tentacles won’t negotiate, gradually increasing their intensity or anything.
Seeing that the increased corrosive force still failed to destroy the ‘virus’ barrier, the tentacles, as the immune system, quickly became active, completely covering this space with a large number of tentacles.
Everyone felt the temperature around them rise sharply.
If the initial temperature can be compared to a fever of 38°, the first enhancement afterward was 39°, and now it has directly risen to 41°.
Of course, this is just a metaphor; the real temperature is hotter than that.
The scorching heat has made all the mages, including Hilia, have to spend a little more magic power to fight the temperature.
If an ordinary person were to survive here, they probably wouldn’t last more than ten minutes.
Hilia wasn’t clear on the exact temperature, perhaps fifty or sixty.
She also joined in the resistance against the corrosion.
“If this continues, we might only be able to hold on for a day and a half.”
Lanna frowned, looking at Hilia.
“Miss Xi, are we really not going to try any other methods?”
Hilia replied, “If you want to try, you can; I’ll wait for you here.”
“I think we should listen to Miss Xi and find a way to get through these two days.”
“No, I think, while we still have strength, we’d better try other methods.”
“Shall I attack these things?” Lanna asked impatiently.
Hilia nodded, “Feel free.”
Although two days would be a bit hard to endure, Hilia felt that with her total amount of magic power and her way of using magic power, she might be able to withstand it.
So, letting these people experiment first wasn’t much of an issue.
What if they found a way to avoid having to struggle for two days?
With Hilia’s permission, Lanna raised her hand and quickly used a Tier Five Magic through a magic puppet.
Throughout the entire space, except for the giant creature in the center, the rest was shrouded in emerald green magic power.
The magic power quickly condensed into fine threads.
A moment later, these threads solidified and instantly shredded all the tentacles!
A large number of tentacles burst, filling the entire space with strange slime, which slowly seeped into the ground after a moment and disappeared.
The entire underground space suddenly became clear.
Lanna showed a look of relief.
She felt all her frustration dissipate.
This is exactly what she wanted.
Although they were mages of the Royal Court Guard, few were actually skilled in defense.
The Natural Magic, primarily focusing on control and attack, actually had very few defensive spells.
Moreover, the magic defense couldn’t compare to the Ice Element, let alone the Earth Element.
Therefore, having them only defend and not attack was truly frustrating.
However, her relief lasted for less than three minutes.
Soon, more tentacles appeared on the surrounding cave walls.
These tentacles were different from the ones that had just been shredded.
Their color had become darker.
Lanna looked at Hilia.
Hilia nodded.
So she was not polite and used a spell again.
The same natural elements, the same fine threads, and shredding.
But this time, Lanna’s face was not relieved, only grave.
“These tentacles have stronger defense.”
The captain said irritably, “See, Miss Xi said this wouldn’t solve it, but you insisted on trying.”
Lanna smiled sheepishly, “I just wondered, do these tentacles have a limit, if we kill them all, could we solve the crisis?”
Hilia said calmly, “Yes, if you kill them all, you can solve it. So, have you solved the Beast Tide?”
Lanna opened her mouth but couldn’t utter a word.
At this time, new tentacles appeared again.
This time they were even darker and more corrosive.
Everyone looked at Lanna, who realized her weakness and said, “You guys try other methods, I’ll help Miss Xi resist the corrosion of these tentacles.”
The captain nodded, “Alright, the rest of you, come with me, we’ll lure some of the tentacles away and see if we can make them unable to corrode by diversion.”
The captain simply stated his idea.
He thought that just escaping would consume much less magic power than defending.
If these tentacles’ flying speed was a bit slower than theirs, they could keep circling in this ‘underground world’ without defending.
This way, they should be able to get through the two days.
To this, Hilia said nothing, just nodded in agreement with their attempt.
Then, the group immediately left, flying in all directions.
Hilia hesitated to speak, then shook her head.
“Why split up again.”
Lanna said, “It’s better to split up, crowded together we’re just sitting ducks, aren’t we?”
“But this is a system. You can think of it as a person’s body; wherever you escape to, you’re still inside the body. These tentacles can pop out of the cave walls at any time. Splitting up and not splitting up, the danger is different.”
Lanna shrugged, “Then they can only rely on their luck.”
Time slowly passed.
When Hilia joined the defense, Lanna found that the pressure she faced was similar to when she was coordinating defense with the others, even weaker.
Hilia seemed to know how to slow down corrosion, able to conserve magic power as much as possible.
At the same time.
The captain was sprinting through the subspace tunnel.
After charging out, he immediately focused on the tentacles behind him and saw them coming, but their speed was no match for a Tier Five Mage, which relieved him.
But soon, he tensed up again.
Because tentacles began to appear on the surrounding cave walls.
These tentacles weren’t just coming from behind him but also popping up ahead, blocking his path.
Fortunately, these tentacles needed time to form an impenetrable encirclement, so he quickly bypassed them and continued forward.
However, it wasn’t long before he found his path ahead blocked by tentacles.
The tentacles seemed to know which path he would take and directly sealed it off, forcing him to stop.
“Indeed, this method doesn’t work either.”
The captain shook his head and prepared to retreat, only to find that the way back was also sealed by tentacles.
“Looks like I’ll have to force my way through.”
The captain frowned and immediately turned into a sharp knife, plunging into the tentacles.
Before long, he returned to the vast space where Hilia was.
“How did it go?”
Lanna quickly asked.
The captain shook his head.
“This method isn’t working.”
“Huh? What’s the situation?”
The captain explained what he had encountered to Lanna.
Lanna’s expression changed.
“Then the others are…”
“They’ll have to rely on their own luck.”
