The Fantastic Little Farmer
Chapter 197: Hit by a Poison Needle
Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Hit by a Poison Needle
Zhang Yun scoffed, thinking, "Now you consider yourself my person? What was that attitude earlier?"
"I heard everything just now," he said. "The boss of your Celestial Mandate isn’t trying to punish you; they are trying to protect you. The Liu Family might not be able to react right now, but it’ll be hard to say what happens later. Since you’re so weak, it’s safer for you to go back."
Qi Luo scoffed. "Fine. Put me down, then. I’ll go back myself."
"You? Right now? I’m not comfortable with that."
Zhang Yun certainly couldn’t just let her go. That bearded guy thought he was acting alone, but it turned out they had four people out in the open and one hiding in the shadows! Even if Asura had his own schemes, who knew if he had accomplices waiting for him?
Given the extent of Qi Luo’s injuries, any ordinary person could easily overpower her right now.
"Why wouldn’t you be comfortable? Why do you care about me? I don’t need it!" Qi Luo was still pouting a bit out of spite.
Initially, when Zhang Yun rushed over to save her, she had felt gratified, but she hadn’t actually needed rescuing then. It had just been a nice gesture, nothing more. Just now, however, was completely different. She had faced a life-or-death crisis and was on the verge of being humiliated and imprisoned. Zhang Yun’s appearance this time had truly achieved the effect of a hero saving the damsel in distress.
That had just sparked a sense of reliance in her. Yet, right after carrying her all the way here, he immediately turned hostile and wanted to get rid of her!
"There are people in my room, so it’s not convenient to take you there," Zhang Yun explained. "You should have brought the room card for the room across the hall when you came out, right? We can go there first, and then I’ll figure out a way to treat your injuries."
"I don’t need treatment... I’ll just tough it out. I won’t die!"
Zhang Yun couldn’t be bothered to entertain her grumbling and drove straight back to the hotel.
While waiting for the elevator, Qi Luo, still being carried in his arms, buried her face even deeper. It wouldn’t do for her to be seen or photographed.
Using her room card, Zhang Yun unlocked He Xiong’s room. Taking a look inside, he noticed that one of the two beds was unmade, while the other looked like it hadn’t been touched at all.
It was obvious that Qi Luo hadn’t slept well last night. She might have dozed off in a chair or laid fully clothed on top of the covers, ready to rush over to check on the adjacent room at the slightest noise.
Realizing this, Zhang Yun’s heart softened. If the people from the Donghuang Sect had come to harass them last night, let alone hurting Yang Xiaoyun and the other girl, just scaring them would have been bad enough. Plus, it would have ruined his night of passion.
"Get some rest first. I’m going to get you some medicine and food," he said.
When Zhang Yun tried to lay her on the bed, Qi Luo wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and refused to let go.
"You can’t just put me down like this..."
Zhang Yun smiled in amusement. "I won’t run away, I won’t abandon you, and I won’t send you back to Celestial Mandate. Is that okay? Some assassin you are, relying on me like a little girl..."
"Who’s relying on you, you idiot!" Qi Luo headbutted him and grumbled, "You got blood on my pants! If it stains the blankets, what will people think of me?"
"Haha!" Zhang Yun looked momentarily embarrassed. "I forgot about that. Later, people might think I did something to you in here... Haha!"
"Stop laughing! Look at what you’ve done, you pervert!" Qi Luo looked utterly disgusted. To think he would actually try to cover up the bloodstains by smearing them on her—what a bizarre train of thought!
Zhang Yun carefully reached out and touched the spot.
"Where are you touching?!"
"It seems to have dried. I only got a little blood on you anyway. It probably already rubbed off on the car. Who cares what they think!"
Zhang Yun placed her on the bed. "Let me check your injuries..."
Qi Luo wanted to resist a little, but she truly had no strength to struggle. Clinging to his neck just now had already taken everything out of her.
Zhang Yun inspected her hand. The area where the flying needle had pierced her had already turned a dark, bruised black. The needle itself had fallen out when she was sent flying backward earlier.
"It looks like it’s poisoned," Zhang Yun said, showing her the wound. "Good thing it fell out quickly, so it didn’t seep in too much..."
"It’s over..." Qi Luo murmured.
"What is?"
Qi Luo said in frustration, "When I grabbed his hand, all the flying needles aimed at you pierced into me! Those didn’t fall out, and I’ve completely lost feeling in that area!"
Both of them had tumbled to the ground, and when she clamped down on Asura’s hand, the flying needles had shot into the side of her buttock and thigh!
No wonder she had felt it when he smeared the blood on her earlier, but didn’t seem to feel anything when he touched her just now. It was because the poison had taken effect...
Since Zhang Yun would have to help her pull them out anyway, she silently pointed a finger at the spot to avoid the awkwardness of saying it aloud.
She was wearing a black top and black pants. Since the flying needles were so tiny, Zhang Yun had to lean in close to inspect the area, running his hand over the fabric.
"Tsk, tsk. I called you scrawny before, but I didn’t expect you to have quite a bit of meat on your bones. They’re almost completely buried in."
Zhang Yun pulled out three Poison Needles. If her pants hadn’t provided a layer of resistance, they might have sunk all the way in. The one in her wrist had fallen out precisely because there was less flesh there.
"What are you analyzing?! Are you done pulling them out yet?" Qi Luo rolled her eyes.
Zhang Yun showed them to her. "Three needles. Are there any more?"
"I can’t see, and I can’t feel anything..."
"Through the fabric, I can only rely on touch," Zhang Yun said. "As for whether they hit anywhere else, I’d have to see with my own eyes."
"Get lost!" Qi Luo was very efficient when stripping others, but she had no desire to be stripped herself.
Zhang Yun’s expression turned serious. "Judging by your hand, I’m guessing a huge patch of skin has already turned black, and it might spread even further. It’s slower if it’s just in the muscle, but once it enters the bloodstream and spreads throughout your body..."
"Think of something, then," Qi Luo said helplessly. She had only just discovered Asura’s true colors today. She had only just found out about the flying needles, let alone whatever poison was on them.
Zhang Yun wasn’t actually too worried about this, but he deliberately teased, "There’s no other way! I’ll just have to summon a spirit of fearless sacrifice and suck the poisoned blood out for you!"
"Pfft! I’d rather let the poison run its course..."
"You’d rather turn into a black-and-white yin-yang behind?"
"..." The description instantly painted a vivid picture in Qi Luo’s mind, and she felt that this guy was absolute poison himself!
Zhang Yun shrugged. "Suit yourself. Let me see the injuries on your stomach and waist."
Since she didn’t need to undress for those spots, Qi Luo didn’t resist and allowed him to lift her shirt.
Dark bruises had clearly formed in both areas. Lacking professional medical knowledge, Zhang Yun didn’t dare to examine her recklessly, unsure if she had any fractured ribs or similar internal injuries.
Still, Zhang Yun wasn’t overly concerned. Since she hadn’t passed out, it probably wasn’t as severe as when Mingruo was hit by the car, right? At the very least, her defensive and resistive abilities were much stronger.
He would just have to give her a Mysterious Petal...
When it came to saving lives, Zhang Yun was always generous and never fussed over getting repaid. Back then, Ouyang Mingruo had been a total stranger, while Qi Luo was at least considered one of his own people now.
"Do you trust me?"
Zhang Yun’s sudden question made Qi Luo pause. "What do you mean?"
Thinking back to how this punk kept saying he wanted to ’ride’ her, she wondered, "Does he want to take advantage of my severe injuries to do just that?"
"I think I told you yesterday that I could improve your strength, meaning I possess a Secret Medicine. It can increase your Power, as well as heal injuries and purge poisons. But after taking it, your entire body will burn up. You basically won’t be able to withstand it, so I’ll have to throw you into cold water to cool you down. Ice water would be best..."
Zhang Yun spoke very seriously. "So, I need you to trust me completely and not think I’m just tormenting you. Look at your eyes right now—you clearly don’t trust me!"
"No, no, I trust you!" Qi Luo thought about how he could make his belongings ’vanish’ into thin air and hadn’t been surprised by the Donghuang Sect at all. Perhaps he was the heir to some ancient Sect, so having a Secret Medicine wouldn’t be strange.
"Wait here, I’ll go get it!"
Zhang Yun walked into the bathroom and started running water into the bathtub. While out of Qi Luo’s sight, he entered his Personal Space. He stored away the Blood Demon Blade and his gun, then changed out of his bloodstained clothes. Thankfully, before leaving the house that morning, he had brought in the spare clothes he bought yesterday from the trunk.
Next, he plucked a Mysterious Petal and dropped it into the complimentary bottle of mineral water sitting on the sink counter.
Although he was already prepared, Zhang Yun still had to return to the guest room across the hall to pretend to fetch it, and to explain things to Yang Xiaoyun and the other girl while he was at it.
As soon as Zhang Yun opened the door and walked in, he immediately found the room completely empty! They hadn’t just gone out for breakfast; even Yang Xiaoyun’s luggage was gone!
