Kaelithra Nixon stood up quickly, as if pricked by a hedgehog: "I’m here to represent Grand Void Mountain to pay respects, not to participate in a matchmaking!"

Carson Flores chuckled maliciously: "Well, it’s not up to you if they like you. As parents, when they see someone outstanding, of course they want to bring them into their family. "Shut up!"

Kaelithra Nixon punched Carson Flores’s arm, exasperated: "Aren’t we friends? I’m already like this, and you’re still gloating here. You’re so heartless!"

Carson Flores shrugged, laughed: "You better go out now, they’re waiting for you."

Kaelithra Nixon reluctantly took a few steps, then turned back: "Come with me."

Carson Flores shook his head like a drum: "No, don’t drag me into this. If things go wrong, they’ll probably think I’m up to mischief, and then they’re going to hate me too. It’s just asking for trouble."

Carson Flores chuckled: "I can’t help you with this. You’ve got to fend for yourself. Take a walk with him tomorrow. If you truly aren’t interested, find an excuse and decline, just don’t meet again."

Kaelithra Nixon furrowed her brows, annoyed: "These things are so frustrating."

After pausing, Kaelithra Nixon looked up and asked Carson Flores: "You have a Pathist couple, right?"

Carson Flores nodded: "Yes."

Kaelithra Nixon asked: "How did you and your Pathist couple meet?"

Carson Flores assumed she referred to Shirley Miller, since Shirley was his legal wife, officially recognized.

"We got together through our parents’ arrangement. We were quite unfamiliar at first, but after going through a lot together, feelings developed over time. Yes, in that sense, we were lucky."

Kaelithra Nixon blinked: "Were you embarrassed at first?"

Carson Flores recalled how he and Shirley Miller started out, finding it amusing: "Embarrassed? Of course, it was embarrassing. The elders directly put us together, forcing us to stay in the same room at night. But we had no emotional foundation, so one of us slept on the bed, and the other on the floor..."
