The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard
Chapter 2989: This Man... Unfathomable!
Theron Coffey and others turned their heads in unison, their eyes landing on Varric Combs, eyes filled with astonishment.
"The Saint of Thieves!"
"That’s the Saint Varric Combs, just now on the battlefield I heard him giving his name when he chased after the Demon Race..."
After everyone confirmed Varric Combs’ identity, their gaze instinctively moved to Carson Flores.
Carson actually knows the Saint of Thieves?
Seeing Carson’s embarrassed expression as if he wanted to cover his face, he seemed very familiar too?
Even though he called him senior, there wasn’t that usual respectful demeanor towards a Quasi-Saint at all; instead, it was very casual.
Theron Coffey suddenly felt thankful, luckily he realized in time, otherwise, if something really happened, he feared he would suffer.
This Carson isn’t some insignificant person without a background after all; he has connections with a Quasi-Saint, and the Hall Master backs him!
Who dares to bully him?
Luckily, luckily!
Under everyone’s gaze, Carson felt a bit awkward too, but listening to Varric Combs’ undisguised warm tone, he felt a surge of joy from their long-separated reunion, and said with a smile, "It’s been decades, I had to make some progress otherwise, I would be dead on the battlefield, no?"
Varric Combs laughed heartily, "What strength do you have now?"
Carson answered frankly, "Middle Grade Great Land Prime Immortal."
Varric Combs’ eyes suddenly widened, exclaiming, "You’ve advanced too fast, hadn’t you? Last time I saw you, you had just stepped into Great Land Supreme Immortal, right? How many years has it been, and you’re already a Middle Grade Great Land Prime Immortal?"
Carson chuckled, "I was just lucky, gained some opportunities, and earned some merits here, got some rewards from the Hall Master, so I advanced a bit faster."
Varric Combs curiously asked, "Rewards from the Hall Master? What did he reward you, and why?"
"Heavenly Immortal Lotus Seed."
Carson said candidly, "I previously went to the Bitter Sea Immortal Domain for business, encountered the Demon Race, and by luck, thwarted their grand teleportation plan..."
"You’re that lucky guy!"
Varric Combs’ expression turned strange, "I know about this, but I never thought that lucky guy was you, what were you doing in the Bitter Sea Immortal Domain?"
Carson naturally couldn’t say that it was to handle Broken Heaven Pathist’s matters, so he only replied, "To visit a senior who has been helpful to me."
Varric Combs asked curiously, "Who?"
Not wanting to reveal True Sage Grand Void, Carson diverted the topic, "Senior, how about visiting my place and chatting slowly?"
Varric Combs snapped back and pouted, "Being all secretive, alright, let’s go!"
Carson and Varric Combs left, leaving the crowd around them as if petrified.
Varric Combs’ attitude towards Carson didn’t seem like a senior to a junior, but rather like two friends who haven’t met for a long time.
How did Carson manage to interact on such equal terms with a Quasi-Saint?
Every Quasi-Saint is a leader of their area, they are the top echelon in the Immortal Realm, naturally having a high view, how could ordinary people catch their eye?
Not to mention interacting on equal terms; it’s hard enough to even catch their glance. After all, ordinary immortals are like ants in their eyes, would you stop and look closely at one ant among a moving group?
If you did, then this one must be different from others!
Just now they mentioned Carson going to the Bitter Sea Immortal Domain, Carson said he was visiting a senior and seemed reluctant to disclose it, not wanting others to hear.
Perhaps this person is also an incredible significant powerhouse?
Otherwise, why not just say it, especially when asked by a Quasi-Saint.
This Carson’s background is indeed deep and unfathomable!
Everyone exchanged glances, seeing the same depth in each other’s eyes.
Originally, they thought Carson was a small, insignificant figure who made his mark by chance, but now it seems Carson is a thick, reliable support!
He might not be extremely powerful right now, but his methods and his backers are indeed formidable!
Valdrin Gross and Dorian Roth exchanged looks, both feeling a hint of lingering fear.
They had spoken poorly of Carson quite a bit, and their feelings were similar to Theron Coffey’s at the moment.
Luckily, luckily!
...
In the tent, Carson casually cast a Soundproof Spell and then invited Varric Combs to sit.
Varric Combs slouched in a chair, muttering, "All secretive, what can’t be said openly?"
Carson smiled, "I just don’t want to cause trouble for others if word gets out, and besides, I’m not the type to rely on power and bully others, no need to. Look how familiar I am with the senior, and I never bragged about it everywhere."
Varric Combs snorted, "Even if you say it, it’s useless; I might not necessarily help you if something happens."
Carson chuckled, "Why would I need you to step in and help, senior? Just saying that the Saint of Thieves and I have a cross-generational friendship, we’re friends, isn’t that enough to make anyone who wants to bully me think twice? After all, no one wants to provoke you, senior, right?"
Carson flattered Varric Combs, and Varric nodded proudly, then realized and darkened his face, "They’re all afraid of being targeted by a thief, right?"
Carson laughed, "Thieves are indeed scary, but even scarier is a Saint. How many Quasi-Saints are there in this world?"
Varric Combs relaxed a bit, "You know how to talk, tell me, who did you visit?"
Carson smiled slightly, "True Sage Grand Void."
Varric Combs’ smile suddenly froze, his posture straightened a bit, "You know True Sage Grand Void?"
