The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard
Chapter 2992: Tempered by Blood and Fire, the Growth of Third Squad!
"Clang! Clang! Clang!"
"Retract the combat line, retreat in an orderly fashion!"
Amidst the retreat bell, Carson Flores’s Domain Power erupted, causing a vast glacier to instantly appear in front of him. This glacier swiftly extended toward the opposing Demon Clan soldiers, sealing a group of demons within solid ice.
The demons summoned various magical treasures, instantly shattering the glacier before them.
With just this moment of delay, Carson and Jarett Roth were already covering the retreat of the Third Squad toward the rear.
The demons surged forward once more. However, at this moment, countless formations activated along the vast defense line, and powerful Spiritual Power Cannons exploded thunderously, raining cannon fire into the demon crowd, triggering intense explosions.
A demon leader seemed to be rallying his troops, when a Spiritual Power Cannon shot straight toward him.
Though he activated all his strength instantaneously, the cannon’s overwhelming energy tore through his Protective Barrier without interruption, then directly blew him apart into a mist of blood. Furthermore, the explosive energy immediately blasted away the nearby group of demons.
Carson retracted the Gluttonous Blood Tree from above, glanced back at the barrage of cannon fire from the defensive line, and breathed a sigh of relief.
Since the first assault of the First Legion, Varric Combs and others had seized the chaos to probe and bombard the Immortal Demon Passage, the Immortal Demon War had fully unfolded.
The demons surged like tides, rushing toward the defense line, attempting to break it completely, while the Immortal Realm held the line steadfastly. If the pressure was too great, they would launch legionary assaults on enemies outside the line, with the turrets attacking from afar to intercept subsequent demon reinforcements as much as possible.
Upon repelling the demons threatening the line, the soldiers would retreat behind it to continue utilizing it to block the enemy.
Defense was not always smooth, as the line was occasionally breached, allowing demons to exploit vulnerabilities, wreak havoc, and even charge deep within, causing considerable damage.
In the blink of an eye, the two sides had been entangled in slaughter for half a year.
During that half-year, the team Carson was part of, the Third Squad, had been deployed eight times, with each battle resulting in casualties to some degree.
The fallen were gathered, the severely injured sent to the rear for healing, and the reserve forces repeatedly filled the thousand-member complement of the Third Squad.
After eight deployments, many earned significant military merits, utilizing their rest periods to exchange for training eligibility at the Spirit Ascension Hall, rapidly improving their strength.
Although many from the original thousand-person squad had perished in these battles, now the overall power of the Third Squad had greatly increased, with the number of Great Land Immortals having at least doubled. Currently, the Third Squad’s overall strength was already the strongest among the ten squads of the Ninth Battalion, with the highest cohesion.
Other teams were very envious of the Third Squad because they had a remarkably powerful captain, Carson Flores!
Despite being at a Middle Grade Great Land Initial Immortal level, Carson could move freely across this battlefield, invincible, killing countless foes, and had privately earned the nickname "Little Killing God" within the First Legion.
Carson possessed a Gluttonous Blood Tree, whose combat power on the battlefield became increasingly rampant and fierce with each deployment, always managing to kill and devour countless demons.
What truly made others envious was not Carson’s individual strength, but rather that whenever faced with extremely difficult situations, Carson would release the Demon Summoning Banner to call forth varying numbers of Great Demons, helping the Third Squad stabilize the situation or gain an advantage to avoid being overwhelmed by the surging attacks.
The Third Squad members following Carson faced minimal chances of their lines being broken or getting swept away by powerful enemies.
For this reason, the Third Squad had the lowest reduction and severe injury retreat rates, and it was easiest for them to earn merits.
Fighting against the wind was tough, but following tens of Great Demons in a favorable battle made earning merits easy, didn’t it?
With more opportunities for merits, faster improvement in power, more rewards, and lower chances of dying in battle, which soldier wouldn’t be envious?
Successfully retreating within the defensive line, Carson breathed a sigh of relief, "This battle is over, will it be time for the First Legion to take our rotation of rest soon?"
Jarett Roth replied, his face pale and panting, "Yes, there’s a two-month recovery period."
The last time Jarett Roth went into battle, he encountered a Peak Great Land True Immortal and was injured. Had it not been for Carson summoning a group of Great Demons to stabilize the first wave of surging attacks, Jarett might have been beaten to death, and the Third Squad’s line might have been directly breached.
Carson instructed, "Quickly report the disciples’ military merits; exchange whatever you can. In the one-month period, strive to improve your strength; a little more power means a greater chance of survival."
Beside him, Carradine chimed in, "I’ll handle it quickly!"
After countless battles, Carson had already become the spiritual icon in the hearts of all the Third Squad members.
They all knew clearly that without Carson, given their strength, after eight battles, perhaps a third of them would not remain.
After ongoing battles, the Third Squad’s reputation in the First Legion was becoming increasingly prominent.
If before they only had expectations, now they were certain that as long as they resolutely followed Carson, they would surely return to glory!
Regarding the current strength of the Third Squad, it was undeniable that their spirit and morale were frighteningly strong!
As long as Carson calmed a charge, even to assault a Demon King in the Demon Clan Camp, they would follow without hesitation!
