"Still expanding?"

Carson Flores was shocked: "How does it compare to the maximum size of the previous Immortal Demon Passage?"

Varric Combs sighed: "It’s already reached the maximum size of the previous Immortal Demon Passage, perhaps even bigger."

Carson Flores was silent for a few seconds: "So, this time when the Immortal and Demon Worlds overlap, the passage will expand indefinitely and remain stable, not closing again, keeping the two worlds permanently connected?"

"Most likely so."

Varric Combs spoke with a tone of lament: "The Storm is coming!"

Carson Flores fully understood the heaviness in Varric Combs’s tone; this battle will be unceasing, the largest in scale, and relentless!

The entire Immortal Realm will be swept into this war until a victor emerges between the Immortal and Demon Worlds!

There is a probability that the Immortal and Demon Worlds will engage each other, with countless casualties, eventually leading to neither side benefiting, failing to break the stalemate, after which they might temporarily halt their conflict to recuperate, waiting for the next opportunity, but that probability is small.

The Demon Realm has always wanted to invade the Immortal Realm, whereas the Immortal Realm, due to the passage’s impending closure, has little interest in attacking the Demon Realm. However, if the passage remains open eternally, wouldn’t the Immortal Realm then desire to conquer the Demon Realm?

The Demon Realm seeks to completely take over the Immortal Realm, does the Immortal Realm not wish for the same?

The hope for peace between the two realms is bleak, with a greater likelihood of one invading the other, leading to incessant warfare until one side is entirely subdued.

If this continues, how many people will perish?

How long will this war last?

"Kid, don’t focus on how many you can kill or how much credit you can earn on the battlefield; first think about preserving your life. This war will be long, and if you recklessly charge forward, even countless lives won’t be enough to sustain you!"

Carson Flores nodded gravely: "Thank you for the warning, senior, I’ll be careful."

Varric Combs lowered his voice: "On the battlefield, it’s enough to get through, flee as fast as you can when needed; this war’s outcome does not depend on you or me, it hinges more on that figure..."

Carson Flores naturally knew Varric Combs was referring to the Immortal Emperor and couldn’t help but ask: "Is there only one Saint Realm being in the entire Immortal Realm?"

Varric Combs shook his head: "Certainly not, but upon reaching the Saint Realm, enduring the eras and changes of the world, perhaps these matters hold little significance for them anymore. For us, their perspective might treat us as mere ants."

"Would you care about two ants fighting on the ground, or about which group of ants wins?"

Carson Flores furrowed his brow: "What about that figure?"

Varric Combs responded in a low voice: "While not in position does not strategize for its governance, as long as he holds this position, he naturally has to take action. Yet, the Demon Realm also possesses beings in the Saint Realm; at their level, they are eternally unchanging, making it difficult to engage in an unyielding struggle."

Carson Flores felt a bit puzzled: "Then who decides in the end?"

Varric Combs answered: "If a Saint Realm being has an absolutely overwhelming advantage, victory comes easily; however, if powers are similar, Saints maintain restraint, leaving the ultimate decision to the battlefield."

"Previously, Saints have indeed clashed but not determined a victor. During numerous subsequent Immortal Demon Wars, although Saints have appeared to sway the outcome, they have yet to fight desperately. If this time the Immortal Demon Passage remains stable, Saints may be compelled to intervene again."

"The outcome of the Saint’s battle will influence the war between the two realms, and until then, all other battles merely serve as a prelude..."

Carson Flores was momentarily speechless.

Prelude?

Two simple words, yet they demand millions of lives as the price.

If there were more Saints in the Immortal Realm, if he himself could become a Saint, perhaps many deaths could be avoided.

Carson Flores softly asked: "Senior, how difficult is it for a Quasi-Saint to advance to the Saint Realm?"

Carson Flores’s words plunged Varric Combs into silence.

"Saint Realm?"

Varric Combs’s expression slightly changed, his gaze becoming complex and distant. He let out a long breath, finally answering after a long pause: "I don’t know how difficult it truly is."

Carson Flores was surprised by Varric Combs’s response, reflected and asked: "No benchmark?"

Varric Combs shook his head: "Cultivators advancing to Immortals, Immortals advancing to the Great Land, countless have succeeded leaving behind endless enlightenment experiences, with numerous examples, yet throughout history there have been only a few Saints, which can be counted on one hand!"

"A mountain, no matter how tall, if you strive to climb upward, one day you can reach the summit. But when standing on the ground, gazing at the zenith of the heavens, unable to fly, just watching from afar, how can you ascend?"

The camp fell silent, it was evident that Varric Combs had been stuck in the Quasi-Saint Realm for too long.

Carson Flores’s question represented his own deepest confusion.

Carson Flores was originally just seeking a reference answer, yet unintentionally caused Varric Combs to lose heart.

"Senior, don’t be discouraged; perhaps one day you’ll gain enlightenment, ascend in broad daylight, straight to the Heavenly Dome?"

Varric Combs lifted his head, curling his lips: "Don’t dream in broad daylight kid, instead, focus on what you should; if you get the chance to meet that figure, learn well..."
