The Fluffballs I Fed Were SSS-Rank Beastmen
Chapter 212: Lying? Not Good. For the Fluffies? She Can!
Chapter 212: Chapter 212: Lying? Not Good. For the Fluffies? She Can!
Regarding the remarks on the Star Network accusing her of failing to take good care of the Iron-eating Beast, resulting in his poisoning and coma, Liang He actually considered them to be facts. She felt there was nothing to defend.
Her main reason for wanting to respond was simply that she didn’t want to lose her job as a Breeder and have to leave the fluffy companions she spent day and night with.
"I’m going to start a live stream right away," she thought. No matter how much she said, it would be better to let the netizens see for themselves. The Iron-eating Beast had already woken up safely. Surely, seeing him safe and sound would make the netizens happy for him too.
Liang He had always been a woman of action. Once she made a decision, she wouldn’t easily change it. However, before starting the live stream, she still gave Huo An a heads-up.
"You can start a live stream to dispel the rumors, but I suggest you don’t reveal that Xuan Jiao was ever poisoned and comatose," Huo An texted.
It was rare for Huo An to hold a dissenting opinion. It wasn’t exactly opposition; he just hoped Liang He would conceal a crucial part of the truth.
"If the Rebel Army finds out that Xuan Jiao was poisoned and comatose, yet woke up without taking an antidote, I’m afraid they’ll get suspicious," he explained in his message.
Although Liang He didn’t know about SSS-level Beastmen, the Rebel Army was very clear about them. Huo An wasn’t sure if they had tested this toxin on Beastmen themselves. If Liang He’s abilities were exposed, it would be troublesome. Even if they used a special constitution as an excuse, given the Rebel Army’s relentless nature, they would probably only want to capture Liang He even more.
However, Huo An also knew that this alone wouldn’t be enough to persuade Liang He.
"My main concern is that the Rebel Army will target Xuan Jiao because of this. It would be bad if they tried to capture him for research," he added.
Liang He, who initially thought Huo An was being a bit paranoid, immediately kept quiet upon reading this. She didn’t care if they targeted her, but if they dared to touch her fluffy companion, she would absolutely never agree to it, nor would she let them off!
"I think what you said makes sense. Then how should I explain it to the netizens?" she replied.
"You can say that Xuan Jiao simply fell ill, and it just happened to coincide with an incident of animals being poisoned and falling into comas within the reserve, causing a misunderstanding," Huo An instructed.
Regarding how to explain it, Huo An had actually already thought through a whole set of excuses in his mind. After much deliberation, this excuse was still the most suitable. After all, the netizens didn’t know about the Beastman Evolutionary Stage. As far as they knew, Xuan Jiao possessed human consciousness and couldn’t easily fall victim to foul play.
"Alright then, I’ll do as you say," she agreed.
Although Liang He didn’t like lying, for the sake of keeping the Iron-eating Beast from being targeted by the Rebel Army, she was willing to put her principles aside for a moment. After the two finalized their cover story, Liang He logged into the Fur Raising Officer account and posted a live stream notification.
"Fur Raising Officer: The claims that the Iron-eating Beast Xuan Jiao was poisoned and comatose are purely rumors. Everyone is welcome to enter the live stream and see for yourselves."
The heat of the discussions regarding this matter on the Star Network had remained consistently high. Liang He’s lack of response had made everyone quite dissatisfied, leading them to firmly believe that she had a guilty conscience. Therefore, when Liang He suddenly surfaced and directly denied her dereliction of duty, the netizens’ anger actually flared even brighter.
But when they realized that Liang He was preparing to start a live stream right away, they began to wonder. Perhaps they really had wrongly blamed Liang He? Harboring all sorts of complicated emotions, the number of viewers in Liang He’s live stream began to soar, quickly breaking past ten million concurrent viewers.
"Good thing I had the foresight to have people maintain the servers in advance. Otherwise, with Liang He’s popularity, the staff at the Information Security Department would probably have to work overtime through the night." Minister Cassie sat in his office, silently guarding the live stream, feeling a wave of lingering fear. He absolutely didn’t want to be blamed for dereliction of duty by his political rivals.
Comments began flooding in.
"Finally getting to witness the appeal of an internet-famous blogger. I’m just here for the spectacle. [So many people.jpg]" one comment read.
"Does the Breeder mean the Iron-eating Beast wasn’t poisoned and comatose? Could she be deliberately lying to us? Anyway, I only believe in facts!" read another.
"She’s probably afraid we’ll file a joint petition to get her fired so she can no longer use the fluffies to make money. Now she’s preparing to play the victim," someone speculated.
"Oh, come on. Wasn’t it already exposed that she donated all the money she made? On this point, I stand with the blogger!" a fan defended.
Even before the broadcast started, the live stream chat was already being spammed wildly. There were good and bad comments alike, and among them was no shortage of paid trolls hired by the Rebel Army. However, based on the good reputation Liang He had accumulated previously, her fans essentially all chose to believe her and give her a chance to explain. The majority of passersby were also willing to calmly listen to what she had to say.
"Jiao Jiao, I might have to trouble you a bit later. I’m sorry."
Liang He hugged the Iron-eating Beast and gently stroked him. If possible, she really didn’t want to disturb his rest. After all, he had just experienced a prolonged period of being poisoned and comatose; his body was still very weak.
"Mmm~"
The Iron-eating Beast would never refuse Liang He’s requests. Moreover, he could feel her emotions, as well as the constant guarding and companionship she had provided during his coma. Although he didn’t know what had happened, as long as he could help Liang He, he was more than happy to do so.
"Thank you, Jiao Jiao."
Seeing Xuan Jiao’s gentle gaze and response, the corners of Liang He’s lips slightly curled up. She hugged the Iron-eating Beast once again, cuddling affectionately for a good while before officially starting the live stream.
"Here she comes, here she comes! It’s finally starting!" one viewer cheered.
"Huh? Isn’t that the Iron-eating Beast behind the Breeder? He looks fine!"
"Oh no, could we really have falsely accused Liang He? Are we going to get slapped in the face again?" another fretted as comments flooded the screen.
Naturally, General Nick and the Black Wizard also received news of Liang He’s upcoming live stream immediately and entered the room to gather intel on the enemy. The moment they saw the Iron-eating Beast, their brows furrowed. Could it be that their information was wrong?
"Black Wizard, could it be that your newly developed poison is useless against SSS-level Beastmen?" Nick asked, somewhat regretting blindly trusting the Black Wizard and causing such a huge commotion. If they failed again, the leader, who was already dissatisfied with him, would definitely fly into a rage.
The Black Wizard frowned deeply, extremely displeased with Nick’s suspicion. This was an insult to his profession!
"Impossible! I tested it on a Spirit Deer Beastman. Only my specially made antidote can cure the poison," he snapped. "And any other incomplete antidotes would only instantly detonate the toxins in the victim’s body, mutating them into the Fierce Beast virus. Even an uninfected Beastman should remain in a coma, their physical condition continuously deteriorating."
The Black Wizard was more inclined to suspect that the information gathered by Nick’s subordinates was inaccurate. "Could it be that your subordinates gathered the wrong intel and got the wrong person?"
If a Beastman truly was poisoned and comatose, it didn’t necessarily have to be the Iron-eating Beast. Liang He had so many Beastmen there; he refused to believe that not a single one had fallen victim!
On this point, General Nick indeed couldn’t guarantee that the information was flawless. Their stronghold in the Tianyao Star Protection Zone had been wiped out previously, and Huo An was now guarding it heavily. Being able to gather any information at all was already difficult enough; having some deviations was perfectly normal.
"If that’s the case, let’s just target them all in one fell swoop! I refuse to believe we didn’t hit a single one of them!"
Saying this, General Nick called over his subordinates and told them not to obsess over the Iron-eating Beast, but to redirect the topic to the other Beastmen.
"I’d like to see how Liang He manages to prove her innocence under the siege of ten million people!"
