Chapter 223: Chapter 223: An Unexpected Guest

Silver Feather’s sudden question made Liang He absentmindedly recall the stranger she had bumped into on Greenfield Star. He was the man she had accidentally run into while taking the Platinum Giant Lion out to play, just as she was looking for a place to sit. The man had felt somewhat familiar to her.

She remembered his name was... Eli.

"Liang He? Liang He!"

It was rare to see Liang He zone out. Silver Feather waved a hand in front of her face, calling her name until she finally got a response.

"Sorry, I was just thinking about something." Liang He offered an apologetic smile for not responding sooner, then reconsidered the question Silver Feather had just asked.

"Even if they turn into humans, they are still the furries I raise." It was the exact same answer she had given before. "Besides, they would definitely be very good-looking, have great personalities, and be incredibly lovable."

Liang He genuinely treated the furries as her own family. Therefore, whether they were animals or humans, she would treat them exactly the same.

"I see." It was an answer both expected and unexpected. Silver Feather cast a meaningful glance at the Mojin King Tiger and the Canglan Hunting Eagle, who were only a few steps away. The smile on her lips deepened.

Upon hearing her question, these two guys had involuntarily slowed their pace. Obviously, they were both anxious and expectant, hoping to hear Liang He’s answer so they could understand her thoughts.

"Cedriel, Lanton, are you here to pick me up?"

Although Liang He didn’t understand why they had suddenly stopped, she treated them with her usual gentleness. Hearing her call, Cedriel and Lanton immediately responded.

"AWOO~"

Relying on his advantage on the ground, Cedriel quickly approached Liang He and rubbed affectionately against her, demanding she pet him. He even deliberately nudged Silver Feather aside. He scoffed inwardly; did she think he didn’t know? Silver Feather had asked Liang He that question on purpose just now!

"SCREECH!"

Hovering in mid-air, Lanton immediately squawked when he saw Cedriel monopolizing Liang He’s attention. If you asked him, the silly, sweet tiger version of Cedriel was much cuter, unlike how he was acting now. Lanton hastily found a spot to land, then stepped forward on his talons, inching closer to Liang He. He stretched out his little head, trying to bury it in her neck.

"Alright, alright, stop messing around. Let’s go home early."

Caught between the two large creatures, Liang He nearly lost her footing. Feigning composure, she pushed them away and rescued herself from the tiger and the eagle. Just as she caught her breath, she accidentally caught Silver Feather’s teasing gaze. Liang He rolled her eyes in exasperation and ushered them all to hurry back.

"Liang He! You have a guest! They’re looking for you!"

They had just arrived at the service area when they heard Silver Shuttle shouting at the top of his lungs. Feeling instantly humiliated, Silver Feather grabbed her forehead and covered her eyes, adopting an ’out of sight, out of mind’ ostrich mentality.

"Why is this kid still so boisterous? He hasn’t grown up at all."

Seeing Silver Feather’s look of disgust and her apparent readiness to take a detour to avoid him, Liang He didn’t force her to stay. Instead, she walked toward Silver Shuttle herself.

"Someone is looking for me?" Liang He peered curiously into the building, but unfortunately, she couldn’t catch a glimpse of the guest.

"Yeah, I think he’s an acquaintance of yours," Silver Shuttle said, acting mysterious as he led Liang He inside. The ignored Cedriel and Lanton followed silently behind, having no intention of leaving.

It wasn’t until Liang He went indoors, passed through the dormitory, and entered the activity room that the guest’s true identity was revealed.

"President Lucas?!" Liang He looked at President Lucas in surprise, completely not expecting to see him here.

"Liang He, long time no see!"

President Lucas enthusiastically but politely hugged Liang He. The Dwarf Marmoset on his shoulder, Koko, took the opportunity to jump onto Liang He’s shoulder, expertly acting cute.

"Koko, what’s going on with you? The moment you see Sister He, you abandon your grandpa?" President Lucas scolded the Dwarf Marmoset with a laugh, pretending to be jealous. However, Koko ignored him completely, continuing to interact affectionately with Liang He.

"SQUEAK!"

Having just sent off one little monkey, another tiny monkey had appeared in the blink of an eye. Liang He’s previously low spirits were instantly cured. She played with Koko for quite a while before remembering to host his owner.

"I’m sorry, I was just so happy to see Koko that I temporarily forgot to host you."

"It’s fine, it’s fine. I’m used to it. Sigh..." President Lucas put on an act of being dejected, making Liang He feel quite embarrassed and apologize profusely.

"President, I really didn’t mean it that way... I-I was just so happy for a moment."

Seeing such a rare, flustered expression on Liang He’s face made Cedriel and Lanton so anxious they wished they could open their mouths and explain on her behalf.

Fortunately, President Lucas was just teasing her. Seeing that she took it seriously, he immediately dropped the act and even began to comfort her.

"Oh, child, I was just joking with you. It’s my fault; that joke wasn’t funny at all and made you upset." A joke was only successful if both parties found it funny. Now, President Lucas felt a bit embarrassed too.

"No, no, it’s not your fault."

Liang He rarely interacted with her elders. Seeing that President Lucas truly wasn’t upset, she breathed a sigh of relief and regained her usual calm. However, thanks to this little fuss, Liang He and President Lucas felt as though they had returned to their time on Greenfield Star. The initial awkwardness of their reunion vanished, bringing them much closer.

"Please, take a seat. I’ll go prepare some tea and pastries for you."

"There’s no need. Silver Shuttle just poured me some water and brought out snacks," President Lucas said.

Following his gaze, Liang He saw the cup of water and casual snacks on the coffee table and smiled helplessly. Entertaining an elder with these items was actually considered somewhat impolite on Blue Star.

"I bought a lot of good things from Blue Star, but Silver Shuttle didn’t know where to find them. I’ll go prepare some. I promise you’ll like it."

President Lucas originally wanted to refuse, not wanting to make Liang He busy herself. But upon hearing that the items were bought from Blue Star, the words of refusal instantly died in his throat. Since Liang He was already busy preparing, he obediently sat back down on the sofa and waited.

As for Cedriel and Lanton, they silently exchanged a glance without anyone noticing. They decided to guard President Lucas’s side and see what was really going on.

"President Lucas, these are pastries and assorted nuts from Blue Star. Please, try some."

Liang He laid out the refreshments first, then brought out a tea set and began brewing tea. Just as President Lucas swallowed a bite of pastry, the tea was ready to soothe his throat.

"Mmm! It tastes as good as expected!"

He knew the things Liang He brought out wouldn’t disappoint him! President Lucas sampled every pastry and drank several cups of tea, looking utterly satiated.

It wasn’t until Huo An heard of his arrival and rushed over from the Sixth Service Area that President Lucas finally remembered his actual business.

"President Lucas, why didn’t you let me know in advance that you were coming to the reserve? I could have sent someone to pick you up," Huo An said. He hadn’t forgotten that President Lucas wanted to poach his staff; he had to remain strictly on guard.

"Ah! Those are trivial matters." President Lucas waved his hand dismissively, then looked at Liang He. "Liang He, I actually came here this time on behalf of a friend to ask for a favor."
