The Fluffballs I Fed Were SSS-Rank Beastmen
Chapter 222: The Two Nervous Big Guys
Chapter 222: Chapter 222: The Two Nervous Big Guys
Hearing that Liang He wanted to give them a physical examination, Cedriel and Lanton subconsciously exchanged a glance. They waited until Liang He was called away for dinner by Silver Shuttle before sneaking off to the side like stealthy little cats—who knew what they were up to.
It wasn’t until Liang He finished eating and brought Xu Yi over to check on them that she suddenly found the fluffy creatures having a wild party in their dorm.
"...Liang He, are you sure they’re sick?" Xu Yi’s mouth twitched slightly as he watched the fluffy animals playing an intense game of fetch. He felt that Liang He was definitely overthinking things. Well, it wasn’t entirely impossible that they were sick. Mental illness was still an illness, after all.
"But just earlier, Cedriel and Lanton weren’t interested in their food at all. They had zero appetite." Liang He was also quite puzzled. From the looks of it, the Mojin King Tiger and the Canglan Hunting Eagle were in fantastic spirits. However, their earlier refusal to eat still worried her.
"These two food bowls belong to them, right? Didn’t they eat perfectly fine?" Every fluffy creature had their own exclusive food bowl. The little wolf cubs and the baby panda even had special baby bowls, making them very easy to identify.
"Those were from the canned food I prepared for them later." Reminded by Xu Yi, Liang He realized she might have indeed been jumping at shadows. At the slightest sign of trouble, she immediately worried they were sick or injured.
"Maybe they simply didn’t like what they were given, or maybe they’re just being picky eaters. There are plenty of reasons; it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re sick." In Xu Yi’s opinion, this was already a massive improvement compared to the past, when Evolutionary Beastmen would absolutely refuse any food offered by humans. As long as they were willing to eat, being picky was perfectly fine. Besides, he had studied the recipes for the canned food Liang He made; they were actually very rich in nutrients. The only reason they were encouraged to maintain the habit of hunting and eating raw meat was to preserve their hunting instincts, ensuring their hands wouldn’t be tied when faced with danger.
"Alright, don’t overthink it. Just observe them for another couple of days."
Comforted by Xu Yi’s words, Liang He looked over at the Mojin King Tiger and the Canglan Hunting Eagle, who were still darting around and showing off fancy tricks with the ball. They even started teaming up to tease the newcomer, Yin Qi. No matter how she looked at it, they didn’t seem sick in the slightest.
"Alright. You head back to the Sixth Service Area then; I’ll keep an eye on them myself."
Hearing this, Cedriel, who had his ears perked up and was multitasking by eavesdropping, quietly breathed a sigh of relief. He looked up again and met Lanton’s eagle eyes, noticing that the other’s reaction was pretty much the same as his own. A physical examination was definitely a no-go; it would be far too easy for them to expose themselves.
"Okay, I’ll take off then. Call me directly if anything comes up." Completely oblivious to Cedriel and Lanton’s little exchange, Liang He walked Xu Yi out the door.
By the time she returned, Yin Qi had already been run completely ragged, panting heavily.
"Alright, stop bullying Yin Qi. Settle down; it’s time for bed." Dinner had been late to begin with today, and with all the back and forth, it was already past their bedtime. Liang He put on a cartoon for them as usual and set a sleep timer. As they watched, everyone drifted off to sleep.
Ever since the Iron-eating Beast woke up, Liang He had felt significantly more relaxed, and the Seventh Service Area had returned to its usual lively and cheerful state. After the little monkey and the koala finished their treatments, Liang He prepared some dry rations for them to last the winter, then released them back into the wild.
"I thought you’d keep them here," Silver Feather remarked out of the blue, watching Liang He send the little monkey and the koala back to their territory.
"They belong to nature." If it weren’t for the reserve’s specific arrangements, Liang He believed that all of them—from the initial Mojin King Tiger and Canglan Hunting Eagle to the later Mengji Snow Leopard, Platinum Giant Lion, and Iron-eating Beast—should rightfully be released back into the wild. After all, nature was the true home of these fluffy creatures. Therefore, unless mandated by the reserve, Liang He wouldn’t go out of her way to keep the animals in the service area. She was already spread too thin and couldn’t possibly take care of so many animals. If she took in every single one that came her way, there would be no end to it.
"The outside world has finally calmed down about what happened over the past half-month." Truth be told, Silver Feather agreed with Liang He. Interfering too much would actually be detrimental to the animals’ survival. If Liang He were to keep raising all the animals, they would eventually become utterly dependent and lose their ability to survive on their own.
"I heard from Hoder that the captured mastermind has already confessed. He admitted that the Rebel Army instructed him to poison the water."
After Huo An and the others captured Xiong Yu, they handed him over to the Law Enforcement Team. Following a period of interrogation, they had finally issued a ruling. The Federation Law Enforcement Bureau also released an official announcement, informing the public of the whole story while strongly condemning the Rebel Army’s vile actions. This only made the vast majority of citizens detest the Rebel Army even more.
"Yeah, this matter is finally resolved." At the mention of that man, a trace of disgust involuntarily rose in Liang He’s eyes. Although she didn’t understand why the Rebel Army kept targeting her so relentlessly, they could have easily just come after her. They shouldn’t have harmed those innocent little animals, even putting the Iron-eating Beast through such a harrowing ordeal.
"I heard Lan Zhuo’s side has made some new progress as well?"
Regarding the animals that had previously been injected with the Antidote and mutated into Fierce Beasts as a result, Lan Zhuo and his team hadn’t given up on their research or sent them straight to the Fierce Beast Planet. Instead, they went through standard procedures to temporarily keep them in the reserve, trying to figure out a way to cure them.
"Yes, Lan Zhuo and Chou the Pharmacist seem to hit it off quite well. The two of them have been continuously researching medicine to cure the Fierce Beasts." Liang He was actually quite surprised by this. Chou the Pharmacist wasn’t someone who looked favorably upon just anyone, and Lan Zhuo was clearly not an easy person to approach either. The fact that the two could see eye to eye was truly astonishing.
"That’s wonderful, isn’t it? Perhaps those Fierce Beasts will have a chance to return to normal." The Fierce Beast Army had always been a major threat to the Federation. Although the Silver Wing Temple remained largely unaffected, Silver Feather understood the principle of shared vulnerability. Naturally, she didn’t want the Rebel Army to continue growing so powerful.
"Yeah, hopefully, they can research a cure for the Fierce Beasts soon."
Compared to Silver Feather’s focus on the big picture, Liang He’s thoughts were much simpler. She only hoped the Fierce Beasts could return to normal and reclaim their natural lives, no longer being used as weapons by the Rebel Army. Just like she once was.
"Tsk, tsk. Liang He, you’ve only been out for a little while, and they couldn’t resist coming out to find you."
Silver Feather and Liang He were leisurely walking back to the service area when, halfway there, they saw the Mojin King Tiger sprinting toward them, with the Canglan Hunting Eagle soaring through the sky above.
"Are they here to pick me up?" Speaking of which, Liang He found it a bit strange as well. Ever since she discovered that Cedriel and Lanton were being picky eaters and only eating cooked food, the two of them had been acting weird. Especially when Liang He and Silver Feather were alone together, Cedriel seemed exceptionally nervous and was constantly trying to squeeze his way in between them.
"If they aren’t picking you up, could they possibly be picking me up?" Silver Feather looked at Liang He teasingly, guessing that she still hadn’t figured out the root of the problem. Eager to watch a good show, Silver Feather cast a wicked glance at the two large creatures rapidly approaching them, a sly smile gracing her lips. "Liang He, if they could transform into humans, what do you think they would look like?"
