The Fluffballs I Fed Were SSS-Rank Beastmen
Chapter 221: Sick or Picky?
Chapter 221: Chapter 221: Sick or Picky?
"Ah? Did you call me?"
Hoder and Silver Shuttle suddenly appeared behind Liang He and the others, carrying the meals they had just brought back from the Main Service Area.
"You just got back from the Main Service Area?"
She wondered who had taken the prey Cedriel brought back. It couldn’t possibly be Silver Feather or Silver Li, could it?
"Yeah, the chef said we’ve been working hard lately. He even watched your livestream and felt bad that you were getting scolded, so he specially prepared some delicious food for us to bring back and comfort you."
Hoder and Silver Shuttle were a bit confused as to why Liang He and the others looked as if they had seen a ghost. Had something else happened while they were away?
"SCREECH!"
Just as Hoder was about to ask, the dorm door behind Liang He opened from the inside. The Canglan Hunting Eagle flew straight out and circled around her.
"Lanton? What’s wrong?"
Her attention instantly captivated, Liang He no longer dwelled on who had taken the prey.
Lanton gently tugged at her sleeve with his beak, signaling her to follow him.
Thinking that something else had happened to the fluffballs, Liang He hurriedly followed.
"Eh? Isn’t this..."
As soon as she entered the room, Liang He caught a strong whiff of blood. Looking closely, she realized it was actually the prey the Mojin King Tiger had just hunted.
So, Lanton and the others had dragged it in?
"Good heavens, did they process all the prey for you?"
Hoder had spent the most time with Liang He and naturally understood her daily tasks, so he was the first to realize what the fluffballs had done.
"And they deliberately did it in the washing area by the door. They must have been afraid of dirtying the dorm and making you upset since you’d have to clean it up, right?"
There was a designated area by the dorm entrance where Liang He washed the fluffballs’ fur and paws every time they returned from hunting or going outside.
Aside from the Iron-eating Beast, who was still resting in bed to recuperate, even Yin Qi had been dragged over to help. Every single fluffball was stained with varying amounts of blood.
Even so, they hadn’t dared to run wild inside the dorm, terrified of dirtying the floors and beds.
"Lanton, did you guys do all this?"
She looked at the chunks of meat that had been torn and divided by their claws, piled neatly together. The sink nearby was covered in traces of washed-off blood. They had clearly mimicked how Liang He usually cleaned the meat.
Liang He could already picture how they had divided the labor and worked together to process the prey so cleanly.
"SCREECH!"
Called by name, Lanton let out a high-spirited cry laced with a hint of proud smugness, making Liang He’s lips curl into an unstoppable smile.
"You’re amazing, Lanton! You even know how to share my workload now."
Based on Liang He’s understanding of the fluffballs, Lanton had likely been the initiator—or rather, the initiating beast. Coupled with his adorable, praise-seeking demeanor, Liang He commended him first.
However, Liang He didn’t ignore the contributions of the other fluffballs.
"And Kuang Ye, Cyril, and Yin Qi, you guys are super amazing too! Thank you!"
Regardless of the quality of the work, their thoughtful intentions alone warmed Liang He’s heart.
She mused that this world truly couldn’t do without fluffballs!
"MEOW!"
"AWOO!"
"ROAR!"
Hearing that they were being praised as well, the three Beast Beasts were overjoyed. Their overlapping cries made Silver Shuttle, who hadn’t yet adapted to the noise, grimace and instinctively cover his ears.
To be fair, the decibel level of their cries was bordering on noise pollution.
"Ahem, how about Hoder and I go set up dinner first?"
Silver Shuttle had no desire to stand there and torture his ears any longer.
"Alright. I’ll go prepare their food. If you’re hungry, eat first. No need to wait for me."
Liang He, on the other hand, had long grown accustomed to the fluffballs’ roars and remained completely unfazed.
She first wiped the bloodstains off the fluffballs, then told them to return to the dorm so they wouldn’t linger around and get dirty again.
"Cedriel, Lanton, as the older brothers, keep an eye on them. Don’t let them run wild."
After handing the three restless little brothers over to the steady oldest and second-oldest brothers, Liang He began to clean up the "battlefield" they had created.
It was obvious that to keep the meat chunks intact, they hadn’t bitten directly into it; instead, they had slowly torn it apart with their claws. She wondered how long it had taken them.
"SCREECH!"
"AWOO!"
Receiving their orders, Cedriel and Lanton herded the other three into an empty single room. They stood guard steadfastly, determined not to cause any more trouble for Liang He.
Cedriel looked at his old friend. The moment his tiger eyes met the eagle’s, a hidden current surged between them before swiftly fading away.
It wasn’t until Liang He came looking for them with their food bowls that Cedriel and Lanton finally dropped their defensive stances.
While the Mengji Snow Leopard and the others happily enjoyed their meals, Cedriel and Lanton seemed apathetic, silently pushing their bowls away.
"Huh? What’s wrong? Do you not like it?"
Keenly noticing their subtle movements, Liang He furrowed her brows and looked at Cedriel in confusion.
It was one thing for Lanton to act this way—perhaps he just didn’t like today’s food—but why wasn’t Cedriel eating either?
"Cedriel, this is the prey you hunted. Do you not like eating it?"
Lately, Liang He’s focus had been primarily on the Iron-eating Beast, so she hadn’t noticed Cedriel’s unusual behavior in time. Now that she suddenly spotted the issue, she immediately went on high alert.
"Are you sick?"
Liang He touched the Mojin King Tiger’s ears and gently squeezed his paws, but there were no signs of a fever.
"AWOO!"
Realizing he had caused Liang He to misunderstand and worry, the Mojin King Tiger hurriedly pulled his bowl back with his paw and took two big bites.
"Pfft, are you trying to comfort me?"
Although Liang He was amused by Cedriel’s antics, the worry in her eyes didn’t dissipate.
She figured it would be safer to have Xu Yi examine Cedriel later.
"Alright, if you don’t like it, don’t force yourself. I’ll go get you some canned food, okay?"
Because she had been too busy recently, they had gone through a lot of their stockpiled canned food, and she hadn’t had time to restock. Thus, Liang He was currently feeding them mostly fresh meat.
"AWOO!"
Compared to raw meat, canned food was cooked, and Cedriel was clearly much happier eating that. Most of the meals Silver Shuttle and the others had prepared during this period were also canned food.
That was exactly why Liang He hadn’t noticed he was being a picky eater.
"Good boy. I’ll open a can for you in a bit."
Liang He gently stroked his sturdy tiger head, then looked up at Lanton.
"Lanton, are you feeling unwell, or do you want to eat something else?"
"SCREECH!"
The Canglan Hunting Eagle, who had been feeling a bit dejected seeing Liang He focus all her attention on the Mojin King Tiger, instantly perked up upon hearing her concern. He happily flew several laps around her.
He seemed to be using this method to tell Liang He that he was in perfect health and simply being a picky eater.
Seeing this, Liang He felt much more relieved.
"Okay, okay. I leave you guys alone for a while, and you all start getting picky."
Liang He was both exasperated and amused. In the end, she could only helplessly spoil her fluffballs and go open some cans for them.
To ensure the other fluffballs wouldn’t think she was playing favorites, she gave them some extra food as well.
"After you finish eating, you’re all going to line up at the medical room for a checkup, understand?"
