The Fluffballs I Fed Were SSS-Rank Beastmen
Chapter 246 Cat and Eagle’s Secret Conversation
Chapter 246: Chapter 246: Cat and Eagle’s Secret Conversation
To protect Liang He’s identity and guard against the Rebel Army, Huo An deliberately kept the public in the dark about her contribution to resolving the poisoning incident. Therefore, when Lan Zhuo claimed that Liang He could treat the Little Tiger Whale, everyone was caught by surprise.
"...No, it’s just that I snagged some antidote from Lan Zhuo before I left."
As always, Liang He intended to hide her true merits, leaving her no choice but to throw Lan Zhuo under the bus. Fortunately, the video call had already ended; even if Lan Zhuo couldn’t keep up with her train of thought, he wasn’t here to expose her lie.
"So that’s how it is. I was about to say, if you were really that incredible, Liang He, I’d have to snatch you away from Huo An." Goring looked at Huo An teasingly, only to find the man staring back with dark, meaningful eyes. Thinking he had misspoken, Goring wiped a cold sweat from his forehead and quickly tried to lighten the mood again.
"Huh? How come I don’t see Lanton and Cedriel?"
Hearing Liang He’s confused voice, Huo An couldn’t suppress the amusement in his eyes. She had actually learned how to change the subject—what a remarkable improvement.
"They probably went somewhere else, afraid of disturbing you."
To a Killer Whale, the oppressive aura of an SSS-level Beastman was impossible to ignore. This was especially true for the Little Tiger Whale, who was already frail and poisoned. If it were subjected to extreme mental stress on top of that, it would likely fall into an irreversible coma.
"Alright then." Having confirmed the safety of the Mojin King Tiger and the Canglan Hunting Eagle while successfully shifting the focus, Liang He took her backpack from Huo An.
She rummaged around. And rummaged... but came up empty-handed.
CLATTER CLINK.
Everyone watched in mild bewilderment as Liang He simply flipped her backpack upside down, dumping its contents out with a noisy clatter.
"Heh... haha, Liang He really... doesn’t treat us as outsiders, huh." What Lick actually wanted to say was that she was wonderfully unpretentious, but unfortunately, he hadn’t quite mastered that vocabulary yet.
After sifting through the pile, Liang He finally found the pill. "That was close. I almost thought I put it in the wrong bag."
With the medicine in hand, Liang He felt vastly relieved. However, as the crowd watched her walk toward the Little Tiger Whale to administer the pill, a sudden wave of tension inexplicably washed over them.
"Its mother is still waiting right beneath us. Just in case something goes wrong... shouldn’t we be ready to run for our lives?" Lick muttered under his breath, only to be mercilessly rewarded with a sharp flick to the forehead by President Lucas.
"Can’t you say anything positive? If you don’t know how to speak, just pretend to be mute." Leila, who was standing nearby, couldn’t stand it either and chimed in to scold him.
As for the rest of the group, every single one of them shot Lick an unfriendly glare, terrified that he might actually jinx the situation.
"Ahem, Liang He, do you need any help feeding it the medicine?" To ease the awkwardness, Goring turned to Liang He with a bright smile, his eyes practically brimming with eagerness to please. Jokes aside, they were all banking entirely on Liang He right now. Whether it was dealing with the Tiger Whale Clan or exploring the Mysterious Sea Area later on, Goring would have to beg for her assistance.
"No need, it’s very well-behaved." Liang He politely declined Goring’s offer. She then turned her attention to the listless Little Tiger Whale, a warm smile blossoming on her face. "Be a good baby. I’m going to give you some medicine. Once you take it, you’ll slowly start to feel better, okay?"
Although the Little Tiger Whale hadn’t been born that long ago, it was remarkably intelligent. It might not possess the intellect of an adult Killer Whale—which equated to that of a human teenager—but it was more than smart enough to understand Liang He’s soothing words.
SQUEAK...
Understanding her intent, the Little Tiger Whale obediently opened its mouth, allowing Liang He to slip the tiny pill down its throat.
Watching Liang He stick her unprotected hand directly into the Little Tiger Whale’s mouth, the onlookers involuntarily held their breath. They were terrified of accidentally making a noise that might startle the creature. If it got scared and snapped its jaws shut, Liang He’s hand would be trapped inside!
"All done, the medicine is down. What a good baby." Liang He praised the obedient Little Tiger Whale, then glanced over at the somewhat dumbfounded Veterinarian.
Liang He’s actions today had completely shattered his worldview. He used to think she was just a fraud putting on a show. As it turned out, he was the only clown here.
"I’ll have to trouble you to keep a close eye on the Little Tiger Whale’s condition. The antidote will take some time to take effect." To avoid a repeat of the previous Silver Moon Wolf incident, Liang He had learned her lesson. She had deliberately controlled the pill’s potency and the time it took to kick in. This ensured the medicine would cure the poison without appearing overly miraculous, naturally drawing less unwanted attention.
"Yes, of course! You can rest assured and leave it to me!" The Veterinarian readily accepted her instructions. He now looked at Liang He as if he had just discovered a hidden treasure. If Goring hadn’t been standing right there, he would have loved to discuss the possibility of jumping ship with Huo An on the spot. Suddenly, he found himself incredibly envious of Xu Yi and Lan Zhuo.
"I’ll go find the Clan Leader of the Tiger Whale Clan now."
Liang He hadn’t forgotten the primary goal of this trip. Now that the Little Tiger Whale’s condition had stabilized, it served as a token of her sincerity. The ensuing negotiations with the Killer Whales should proceed much more smoothly.
Meanwhile, in a hidden corner unknown to her, the very individuals she had been concerned about—Cedriel and Lanton—were sneakily huddled together, discussing matters related to her.
"How much have you recovered by now?" Cedriel, currently in the form of the Mojin King Tiger, was no longer just an oversized fluffy tiger that could only roar and growl. A deep, magnetic, subwoofer-like voice now emanated from his jaws. The massive contrast left Lanton feeling rather unsettled.
"Almost. I should be able to revert to human form in a few days." Unlike Cedriel, Lanton’s voice was much more mature and composed, brimming with unwavering resolve and wisdom—truly befitting the First Commander.
"What do we do when that time comes?"
Lanton and Cedriel hadn’t intentionally kept Liang He in the dark after regaining their consciousness. It was just that, according to the natural progression of the Evolutionary Stage, they needed a period of adaptation after waking up. First, they had to merge their memories from the Evolutionary Stage while simultaneously re-learning how to control their Beast Spirit Bodies to freely shift between Beast Form and human form. Second, they hadn’t spoken human language in years; they genuinely needed time to remember how to talk.
"Sigh... don’t even mention it. Those guys really threw us under the bus." Cedriel had been the first to regain his senses and the quickest to grasp their current situation. When he discovered that Liang He was completely oblivious to their true identities—even treating them like ordinary fluffy pets—his feelings could only be described as profoundly complicated.
"I don’t want to leave her." Compared to Cedriel, Lanton had locked down his own intentions the moment he woke up. Regardless of the reasoning, since Liang He was his Breeder, she ought to take responsibility for him for the rest of his life.
"She’s not the type to just abandon someone after leading them on... right?"
Saying this out loud, Lanton actually felt a distinct lack of confidence. It wasn’t that he doubted Liang He’s character; rather, the revelation of her beloved fluffy pets suddenly transforming into grown men would likely be a massive shock to her. Furthermore, judging by how she treated Huo An and Xu Yi, humans ranked far lower in Liang He’s heart than her furry companions.
"If worst comes to worst, why don’t we just keep pretending to be animals?" Cedriel offered a terrible idea. Setting aside whether he could even keep up the act without exposing himself, the Federation itself would never allow him and Lanton to fool around like this indefinitely. The prestigious positions of Federation Marshal and First Commander were still being kept open specifically for them.
"Liang He hates being deceived. We’d better find an opportunity to tell her the truth."
