Chapter 86 - 75: Cyan-Eyed Dragon Snake
Chapter 86: Chapter 75: Cyan-Eyed Dragon Snake
Upon hearing the command, Caocao picked up another huge rock and hurled it. They were close, and the direct hit made the creature’s body flinch, its head slumping to one side.
But soon, the Cyan-Eyed Dragon Snake spat out the Big-horned Deer it had just swallowed. Prey of that size was nothing for its massive jaws.
"Keep going, don’t stop," Shire said to Caocao. Several more boulders were hurled, and the Giant Snake writhed in pain. The giant frog wasn’t as easy to regurgitate, so it could only turn and flee toward the underground river.
"It’s getting away!" Shire shouted.
Caocao immediately rushed forward in a few strides and grabbed the thrashing tail of the Cyan-Eyed Dragon Snake. The Giant Snake’s escape was halted for a moment. Rubus leaped and bit down on the same spot on its neck he had attacked before.
The Cyan-Eyed Dragon Snake writhed in agony, twisting back to bite Rubus, but the Star Realm Dog was clever. It inflicted a vicious bite and immediately jumped away.
But the Giant Snake immediately turned and lunged for Caocao instead.
Caocao let go of the snake’s tail and grabbed at its mouth with both hands.
’So close. If it uses Lightning Breath, we’re in trouble.’ Shire’s pupils contracted. He quickly gave a mental command: ’Grant the Blessing of the Evil God to Caocao.’
Caocao froze for a moment, then, as if he had broken through his limits, he braced the Cyan-Eyed Dragon Snake’s massive maw open with both hands.
CRACKLE! A powerful electric current erupted, engulfing Caocao completely. Stone fragments and dust kicked up from the ground again. Shire looked on anxiously and saw that Caocao was still fighting the Giant Snake, but his movements were sluggish. His body was charred and bleeding in multiple places, and his blue skin was now a patchwork of black and red.
However, the Giant’s powerful Regeneration Ability was taking effect, and the wounds were slowly healing. But the Giant Snake’s body had already coiled around him, seemingly trying to bind Caocao and constrict him to death.
Rubus leaped in again, biting its neck, but the Cyan-Eyed Dragon Snake completely ignored him, still intent on finishing off the Giant in front of it.
The snake and the Giant tumbled on the ground, the serpent’s body coiled tightly around Caocao.
"Red Eyes, take your sword! Aim for the spot Rubus bit, and stab!" Shire finally gave another order.
He had been waiting for this exact moment. The Cyan-Eyed Dragon Snake’s scales and skin were exceptionally tough; ordinary attacks could hardly harm it. Only Rubus’s repeated tearing bites could break its defense. Meanwhile, Caocao had it tangled up. As long as the Giant had a hold of the snake’s head, its neck would be controlled. This was the moment to decide the battle.
Red Eyes drew his Shamrah Black Sword and charged toward the struggling Giant. Finding his position, he thrust the sword in forcefully. The Dimension Stripping effect of the Shamrah Black Sword allowed Red Eyes to plunge the entire Longsword in without much effort.
He then twisted the blade forcefully. The Giant Snake writhed in agony and flung him away, but the violent motion caused its own body to tremble uncontrollably, leaving it weak.
With his hands braced against the snake’s head, Caocao rolled his body with all his might, slowly breaking free from its coils. The Cyan-Eyed Dragon Snake, now emitting wisps of black smoke, lay limp on the platform, its massive mouth opening and closing in agony. Its body still twitched, but its nerves had been severed, leaving it unable to move on its own.
Shire sent someone to check on Red Eyes, who had been thrown, while also ordering Caocao to grab the Shamrah Black Sword and put the Giant Snake out of its misery.
With a few squelching chops, Caocao hacked off the snake’s head. Shire finally let out a sigh of relief.
This hunt was a plan he had devised with Agatha. Targeting the python-like nature of the snake, the first step was to cover the platform with rocks for Caocao to throw. Next, they used a live deer as bait. After the Giant Snake swallowed its prey, its movements would slow. At that point, Broken Tooth, who was hiding in the shadows, would use Fulu to alert everyone, and they would launch an all-out attack to surround and kill it.
However, there had been unexpected developments. They hadn’t anticipated this Cyan-Eyed Dragon Snake would be so massive that it could swallow the Big-horned Deer in a single gulp. Fortunately, even after eating, its movements were still somewhat sluggish.
"This snake’s body is so long." Shire looked at the corpse, as thick as a tree trunk. ’If Caocao didn’t have his Regeneration Skill, he probably would have been constricted to death long ago.’
"So much meat, and none of it edible." He kicked the Cyan-Eyed Dragon Snake with his foot, his tone tinged with regret.
"There’s nothing to be done about it. You know the meat of Magical Beasts can’t be eaten," Agatha said, coming to Shire’s side to remind him.
Shire nodded. He knew these Magical Beasts were the product of mutation. Their flesh was filled with Negative Energy, and eating it would severely stimulate the mind. Going insane was just the baseline consequence.
"But, even if we can’t eat the meat, there’s still the hide and Bone," he said with a smile.
The last time they killed a Fearsome Claw Bear, its Bear Hide and Bones had been so corroded by the Slime that almost nothing was left. Shire had been heartbroken about it at the time. Now, they could finally salvage something useful.
"Let’s rest for a bit, then we’ll process the Cyan-Eyed Dragon Snake’s body. See if we can make some Leather Armor out of it," Shire planned, rubbing his chin.
Then he felt a bit annoyed. A snakeskin this large had to be transported to Yangjiao Town to be processed. The goblins had no way of handling it.
"Agatha, how is the research on that Teleportation Array coming along?" Shire asked, turning his head.
"Hm? The Teleportation Array?" Agatha, who was petting Rubus, heard her old classmate’s question and turned her head. "I’m still figuring it out. I’ve made some headway, but I need more time."
"As soon as you can," Shire said helplessly.
He walked over to Rubus and joined Agatha in stroking the Star Realm Dog’s translucent fur.
"Oh, right, there was something else I wanted to ask you. You said before that the people of the Twelve Bloodlines tried feeding the Star Realm Beasts all kinds of meat, but none of it worked, right?" Shire asked as he continued to ruffle Rubus’s fur.
