THE FORGOTTEN LADY'S LITTLE FARM
Chapter 77 - Seventy-Five: The Memory Beneath the Heart
Chapter 77: Chapter Seventy-Five: The Memory Beneath the Heart
The silver leaves continued falling.
Lin Yue stood beneath the World-Tree without moving.
PROJECT HEARTLINE: MEMORY RESTORATION AVAILABLE.
The words remained suspended among the branches.
Shen Rui held her hand.
Neither of them spoke.
Lumi floated nearby, unusually quiet.
Finally, Lin Yue whispered:
"Restore it."
Shen Rui looked at her.
"Are you sure?"
"No."
She looked at the silver leaves.
"But I need to know."
He nodded.
"Then we’ll find out together."
The Hidden Door
The World-Tree responded to Lin Yue’s voice.
Its roots slowly separated.
Beneath them—
a staircase appeared.
It descended into darkness.
Lin Yue stared.
"That wasn’t there before."
Aster appeared through the communicator.
"Correction."
"What?"
"The staircase was always present."
Lin Yue frowned.
"Then why couldn’t we see it?"
"Because it was sealed."
"By whom?"
Aster paused.
"By you."
Lin Yue froze.
"Me?"
"Yes."
Shen Rui looked at her.
"You sealed your own memory."
Lin Yue swallowed.
"Apparently."
Lumi floated closer.
"Maybe you had a reason."
"That is what we’re going to find out."
Lin Yue stepped onto the first stair.
Shen Rui followed.
Lumi came after them.
The staircase closed above their heads.
Beneath the Golden Space
The deeper they went—
the quieter everything became.
No birds.
No wind.
No water.
Only the soft sound of their footsteps.
After several minutes, they reached a circular chamber.
At its center stood a small golden door.
Unlike the enormous ancient doors they had encountered before—
this one was simple.
Almost ordinary.
Lin Yue approached.
There was no lock.
Instead—
there was a handprint.
She placed her palm against it.
The door opened.
Inside was a single room.
A bed.
A desk.
A bookshelf.
A small wooden chair.
And a window overlooking a field of flowers.
Lin Yue stared.
"This..."
She couldn’t breathe.
"I know this place."
Shen Rui looked at her.
"How?"
"I don’t know."
The Childhood Room
She walked toward the desk.
A wooden box sat on it.
Dust covered the lid.
Lin Yue wiped it away.
Her name was carved into the wood.
LIN YUE.
She opened it.
Inside—
was a child’s drawing.
A girl.
A giant tree.
A glowing golden sphere.
And beside the girl—
another child.
A boy.
Lin Yue stared at the drawing.
"Who is that?"
Shen Rui stepped closer.
The boy had dark hair.
Sharp eyes.
A familiar expression.
Lin Yue slowly turned toward him.
"Shen Rui?"
He looked at the drawing.
Then at her.
"I don’t remember this."
"Neither do I."
Lumi examined it.
"This memory is older than both of you remember."
The First Meeting
The room changed.
The walls disappeared.
A memory appeared.
A young Lin Yue stood beneath the World-Tree.
She looked perhaps six years old.
She was crying.
A boy approached.
He carried a wooden toy.
"Why are you crying?"
Young Lin Yue sniffed.
"Because everyone says this place isn’t real."
The boy looked around.
"Is it?"
She pointed toward the glowing tree.
"Yes."
He considered it.
"Then I’ll believe you."
Young Lin Yue smiled.
"You promise?"
"I promise."
The memory faded.
Lin Yue stared at Shen Rui.
"You said that."
He looked stunned.
"I don’t remember."
"I know."
The Second Memory
Another memory appeared.
This time—
they were older.
Perhaps twelve.
Lin Yue was sitting beneath the tree with books around her.
Shen Rui sat beside her.
"You can’t solve every problem."
Young Lin Yue frowned.
"Why not?"
"Because you’re one person."
"I can try."
"You always say that."
She looked at him.
"What should I do instead?"
He smiled.
"Ask for help."
She shook her head.
"I don’t like depending on people."
"Then don’t depend on me."
He stood.
"Partner with me."
She stared.
"What is the difference?"
"Dependence means you can’t continue without someone."
He extended his hand.
"Partnership means you choose to continue together."
Young Lin Yue slowly took his hand.
The memory faded.
Lin Yue’s eyes filled with tears.
"That sounds like us."
Shen Rui smiled sadly.
"Perhaps it always was."
Project Heartline
Aster analyzed the room.
"This appears to be the original Heartline chamber."
Lin Yue turned.
"What was Heartline?"
Lumi answered:
"A bond."
"Between whom?"
"The Keeper and the companion."
Lin Yue frowned.
"Why would that need a project?"
Lumi looked uncomfortable.
"Because the original system believed the Keeper needed emotional stabilization."
Shen Rui raised an eyebrow.
"That sounds clinical."
"It was."
Lin Yue looked around.
"Then what was the real purpose?"
Aster answered:
"Preventing the Keeper from becoming isolated."
Lin Yue went quiet.
That sounded painfully familiar.
The First Keeper’s Mistake
Seraphine’s recorded voice filled the chamber.
"The first Keepers believed they could carry everything alone."
Lin Yue turned.
Seraphine’s projection appeared.
"They believed strength meant isolation."
She looked toward the old memories.
"They were wrong."
Lin Yue asked:
"Did Heartline create love?"
"No."
"Then what did it do?"
"It recognized it."
Lin Yue looked at Shen Rui.
Seraphine continued:
"The Golden Space could measure knowledge."
"The network could measure resources."
"The World-Tree could preserve memory."
"But none could measure trust."
She smiled.
"Only people could do that."
Why Lin Yue Forgot
Lin Yue’s expression became serious.
"Then why erase my memories?"
Seraphine looked at her.
"Because the Original found you."
"When?"
"Before your transmigration."
Lin Yue’s heart stopped.
"The Golden Space existed before I came here."
"Yes."
"And I knew about it?"
"Yes."
"Then why don’t I remember?"
"Because the Original tried to use you."
Shen Rui’s expression hardened.
"How?"
Seraphine answered:
"It wanted your loyalty."
Lin Yue frowned.
"I refused."
"Yes."
"And then?"
"You chose humanity."
The Choice That Changed Everything
The memory changed.
Lin Yue stood before the Original.
She looked young.
But her voice was steady.
"I won’t become your Keeper."
The Original responded:
YOU ARE REQUIRED.
"No."
YOU WERE CREATED FOR THIS PURPOSE.
Lin Yue stared.
"I was not created for anything."
The Original paused.
She continued:
"I choose my own purpose."
The Golden Space began glowing.
The Original tried to take control.
Lin Yue reached toward the Core.
"I choose people."
The Core answered.
CHOICE ACCEPTED.
Then—
the chamber exploded with golden light.
The Price
Lin Yue watched herself fall.
Shen Rui’s younger self ran toward her.
"Lin Yue!"
He caught her.
The Golden Space was collapsing.
The Original’s systems were failing.
Seraphine appeared.
"There’s only one way to hide her."
Young Shen Rui looked at her.
"What?"
"Erase her memory."
His face changed.
"No."
"If the Original remembers her, it will find her."
"Then hide me too."
Seraphine shook her head.
"You can’t."
"Why?"
"Because someone must remember."
Young Shen Rui looked at Lin Yue.
"I’ll remember."
Seraphine hesitated.
Then she said:
"Only until the Golden Space calls her again."
The memory ended.
Shen Rui’s Lost Memory
Lin Yue slowly turned toward him.
"You remembered."
He shook his head.
"Not consciously."
"Then why did you keep following me?"
"I don’t know."
He looked at her.
"Maybe some part of me did."
Lin Yue’s eyes filled with tears.
"You knew me before."
"Yes."
"And you still chose me."
"Yes."
"Even without remembering?"
He smiled.
"Apparently."
She laughed softly.
"That sounds ridiculous."
"It does."
"But..."
She squeezed his hand.
"I like it."
The Ring
The golden ring on Lin Yue’s finger suddenly glowed.
Aster scanned it.
"Unexpected energy signature."
Lin Yue looked at the ring.
"What is happening?"
Shen Rui examined it.
"It wasn’t glowing before."
Lumi whispered:
"Heartline."
The ring projected a small symbol.
Two circles.
One golden.
One silver.
They overlapped.
A message appeared.
TWO CHOICES. ONE PATH.
Lin Yue stared.
"What does it mean?"
Seraphine smiled.
"It means the system recognizes your relationship."
Shen Rui laughed.
"So even ancient technology thinks we’re compatible."
Lin Yue smiled.
"Don’t let that make you arrogant."
"Too late."
The Wedding
They returned to the surface before sunset.
The family was waiting.
Wedding preparations had continued.
Flowers covered the courtyard.
Tables were being arranged.
Children ran between the trees.
The World-Tree shimmered softly.
One aunt immediately noticed Lin Yue’s expression.
"What happened?"
Lin Yue looked at Shen Rui.
Then at her family.
"I remembered something."
"Something bad?"
Lin Yue smiled.
"No."
She looked at Shen Rui.
"Something important."
The Wedding Dress
That evening—
Lin Yue’s wedding clothes arrived.
They were simple.
Dark red-colored fabric.
Golden embroidery.
Small flowers along the sleeves.
Lin Yue touched the cloth.
"I like it."
Her aunt smiled.
"Shen Rui chose the embroidery."
Lin Yue froze.
"He did?"
"He said you wouldn’t like anything too elaborate."
Lin Yue smiled.
"He was right."
From outside—
Shen Rui sneezed.
Lin Yue laughed.
The Night Before
The night before the wedding—
Lin Yue couldn’t sleep.
She walked beneath the World-Tree.
Shen Rui was already there.
"You too?"
"Yes."
"Thinking about tomorrow?"
"Yes."
He smiled.
"Are you nervous?"
"A little."
"Me too."
She looked at him.
"You?"
"Yes."
"You don’t look nervous."
"I’ve become very good at pretending."
She laughed.
Then they sat together beneath the tree.
The Question
Lin Yue looked at him.
"Do you ever wonder what would have happened if we hadn’t remembered?"
"Yes."
"And?"
"I think we would still have found each other."
She smiled.
"That’s confident."
"No."
He looked at her.
"That’s hopeful."
She leaned against his shoulder.
"I like hopeful."
The Wedding Morning
The sun rose.
The World-Tree bloomed.
Golden flowers opened across its branches.
The farm bells rang.
Villagers gathered.
Family arrived.
Lumi flew around frantically.
"Everything is ready!"
Aster announced:
WEDDING PREPARATION: 100%.
Lin Yue smiled.
"Finally."
Shen Rui stood at the end of the garden.
When he saw her—
he forgot to breathe.
She walked toward him.
Simple.
Elegant.
Radiant.
He smiled.
"You’re beautiful."
Lin Yue blushed.
"Don’t stare."
"I can’t help it."
She laughed.
"Then don’t."
He offered his hand.
She took it.
The Ceremony
They stood beneath the World-Tree.
Their family gathered around them.
Friends.
Farmers.
Children.
Workers.
Everyone who had become part of their journey.
There was no throne.
No grand palace.
No ancient machine.
Only flowers.
Food.
Music.
And people.
The elder conducting the ceremony smiled.
"Do you choose each other?"
Shen Rui looked at Lin Yue.
"Yes."
Lin Yue looked at him.
"Yes."
"Do you promise to walk together?"
"Yes."
"Even when the road becomes difficult?"
"Yes."
"Even when you disagree?"
They looked at each other.
Lin Yue laughed.
"Especially then."
Everyone laughed.
Shen Rui nodded.
"Especially then."
The Vows
Shen Rui spoke first.
"I cannot promise you an easy life."
Lin Yue smiled.
"I don’t want one."
"I cannot promise I will always know what to do."
"Neither will I."
"But I promise..."
He took her hands.
"...that I will never make you face the future alone."
Lin Yue’s eyes filled with tears.
Then she spoke.
"I cannot promise that I won’t be stubborn."
Everyone laughed.
Shen Rui smiled.
"I cannot promise that I won’t take on too much."
He nodded.
"But I promise that when I need help..."
She squeezed his hands.
"I will ask."
"And when you need help?"
"I’ll stay."
The Rings
Shen Rui placed the wooden-and-gold ring on her finger.
Then Lin Yue placed his ring on his hand.
The World-Tree released a shower of golden flowers.
Lumi cried.
Aster announced:
HEARTLINE: COMPLETE.
The crowd laughed.
Lin Yue whispered:
"I think the tree approves."
Shen Rui smiled.
"I think everyone does."
Husband and Wife
The elder smiled.
"Then from this day forward..."
He looked at them.
"You walk the same road."
Lin Yue looked at Shen Rui.
He looked at her.
They smiled.
Then—
they kissed.
The courtyard erupted in cheers.
Lumi exploded into sparkling light.
Aster immediately recorded:
MARRIAGE SUCCESSFUL.
Lin Yue laughed against Shen Rui’s shoulder.
"Please tell me you didn’t record that."
"I recorded everything."
"Aster!"
The Celebration
Food filled the tables.
Children danced.
Music played.
Farmers brought fresh fruit.
The villagers brought flowers.
Even some of the magical creatures appeared.
The wedding was not extravagant.
It was alive.
Warm.
Messy.
Happy.
Exactly as Lin Yue wanted.
Later—
she stood beside Shen Rui beneath the World-Tree.
She looked at the farm.
Their farm.
Their home.
Their future.
She rested her head against his shoulder.
"Do you realize something?"
"What?"
"We survived."
He smiled.
"We did."
"And we’re married."
"Yes."
She laughed.
"That feels more unbelievable."
The Final Gift
Lumi suddenly appeared.
"I have something for you."
Lin Yue looked at her.
"What?"
Lumi held out a tiny golden seed.
"What is it?"
"The Heartline Seed."
Shen Rui looked curious.
"What does it grow?"
Lumi smiled.
"We don’t know."
Lin Yue laughed.
"Then why give it to us?"
"Because the Golden Space says it belongs to you."
Lin Yue accepted it.
The moment she touched it—
the seed glowed.
A message appeared.
NEW WORLD AVAILABLE.
Lin Yue stared.
"New world?"
Aster immediately activated.
"Unknown environment detected."
Shen Rui sighed.
"We just got married."
Lin Yue looked at him.
"I know."
"And already?"
She smiled.
"Apparently."
The Golden Space opened.
Beyond the doorway—
was a world neither of them had ever seen.
Blue oceans.
Floating islands.
Massive forests.
Three moons.
And distant lights moving across the sky.
Lumi whispered:
"The Heartline Seed doesn’t grow plants."
Lin Yue stared at the impossible world.
"What does it grow?"
Lumi smiled.
"Possibilities."
Shen Rui took Lin Yue’s hand.
Husband and wife.
Keeper and companion.
Farmer and builder.
Two people who had once believed they had to survive alone.
Now—
they had an entire future to build together.
Lin Yue smiled.
"Tomorrow."
Shen Rui nodded.
"Tomorrow."
The portal remained open.
The World-Tree continued blooming.
And for the first time—
Lin Yue wasn’t afraid of what came next.
Because whatever waited beyond that door—
she wouldn’t face it alone.
