Chapter 78: Chapter Seventy-Six: Our First World Together

The portal remained open beneath the World-Tree.

Lin Yue stared through it.

Blue oceans stretched beneath enormous floating islands.

Three moons hung in a violet sky.

Forests covered the islands like green carpets.

Far in the distance—

tiny lights moved between the clouds.

Shen Rui stood beside her.

Neither spoke for several seconds.

Finally, he said:

"We just got married."

"Yes."

"And we’re already looking at another world."

"Yes."

He sighed.

"I suppose that’s our life now."

Lin Yue smiled.

"You could stay here."

He looked at her.

"Without you?"

She laughed.

"I knew you’d say that."

He held out his hand.

"Then let’s see what our first world looks like."

She placed her hand in his.

Together—

they stepped through.

The First Step

The moment they crossed the threshold—

the air changed.

Warm.

Fresh.

Slightly sweet.

Lin Yue stopped.

"Breathe."

Shen Rui looked at her.

"What?"

She closed her eyes.

"Listen."

There was no machinery.

No distant shouting.

No construction.

No traffic.

Only wind.

Water.

Birdsong.

The rustling of enormous leaves.

Lin Yue smiled.

"It’s alive."

Shen Rui nodded.

"Very."

Lumi flew ahead.

"Come look!"

Lin Yue opened her eyes.

A massive flower floated in the air.

Its petals were larger than a person.

Inside each petal—

tiny golden insects slept.

Lin Yue approached carefully.

"Beautiful."

Aster scanned it.

UNKNOWN SPECIES. BIOLOGICAL STRUCTURE: STABLE. ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD: LOW.

Lin Yue smiled.

"Finally."

Shen Rui raised an eyebrow.

"Finally what?"

"A place where nothing is trying to kill us."

A roar echoed from the forest.

They both froze.

Aster added:

CORRECTION. ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD: MODERATE.

Shen Rui laughed.

"I knew it."

The Floating Island

They had arrived on one of the smaller floating islands.

The island was approximately five kilometers wide.

A river flowed through its center.

Water poured from the edge—

falling into the clouds below.

But instead of disappearing—

the water rose again.

It formed a massive circular current around the island.

Lin Yue stared.

"A closed water cycle."

Aster confirmed:

"Possibly."

"Possibly?"

"Further analysis required."

Lin Yue smiled.

"Then we investigate."

Shen Rui looked at her.

"Already working?"

She looked innocent.

"I’ve only been here ten minutes."

"Exactly."

The First Farm

They found a flat valley beside the river.

The soil was dark.

Rich.

Deep.

Lin Yue knelt.

She touched it.

Her expression changed.

"This is incredible."

Shen Rui crouched beside her.

"What?"

"Organic matter."

"How much?"

"Extremely high."

She picked up a handful.

"It could support intensive agriculture."

Aster scanned the ground.

SOIL FERTILITY: EXCELLENT. TOXICITY: NONE DETECTED. HEAVY METALS: LOW.

Lin Yue smiled.

"This could become a farm."

Shen Rui laughed.

"We’ve been here less than an hour."

"And?"

"You’re already planning a farm."

She looked at him.

"We’re married now."

"So?"

"We need somewhere to spend our honeymoon."

He stared.

"Your idea of a honeymoon is farming?"

She smiled.

"Yes."

He shook his head.

"I married an agricultural disaster."

She laughed.

"You married an agricultural genius."

"Debatable."

The First Seed

Lin Yue took the Heartline Seed from her pocket.

It was still glowing.

Lumi hovered nearby.

"What happens if you plant it?"

Lin Yue looked at her.

"That is what we’re going to find out."

She dug a small hole.

Placed the seed inside.

Covered it.

Watered it.

Nothing happened.

Shen Rui waited.

Lumi waited.

Aster waited.

Lin Yue frowned.

"Maybe it needs time."

Then—

the ground trembled.

A golden line appeared.

It traveled through the soil.

Then another.

Then another.

Within seconds—

the entire valley glowed.

Lin Yue stepped backward.

"What did I plant?"

The ground opened.

A tiny golden sprout emerged.

It grew.

And grew.

And grew.

Within minutes—

it became a tree.

But it wasn’t like the World-Tree.

Its branches were small.

Its leaves were silver.

And each leaf contained a tiny image.

A field.

A house.

A river.

A workshop.

A school.

A village.

Lin Yue stared.

"It grows possibilities."

Lumi nodded.

"Exactly."

The Heartline Tree

Aster scanned it.

STRUCTURE: UNKNOWN. FUNCTION: WORLD DEVELOPMENT.

Lin Yue’s eyes widened.

"World development?"

"Yes."

"Meaning?"

Aster displayed several categories.

AGRICULTURE. WATER. SETTLEMENT. EDUCATION. INDUSTRY. ECOLOGY. COMMUNITY.

Lin Yue slowly smiled.

"So it’s not a weapon."

"No."

"Not a transportation system."

"No."

"It’s a foundation."

"Yes."

Shen Rui looked at the tiny tree.

"Then this world doesn’t need to be conquered."

Lin Yue nodded.

"It needs to be cultivated."

A Familiar Feeling

Something about the valley felt strangely familiar.

Lin Yue walked toward the river.

She knelt.

Touched the water.

A memory flashed.

A little girl standing beside a river.

A boy beside her.

The same two children.

The same golden light.

But this time—

behind them stood a house.

Lin Yue gasped.

Shen Rui caught her shoulder.

"What happened?"

"I saw us."

"Here?"

She nodded.

"We’ve been here before."

Lumi’s eyes widened.

"No."

Lin Yue looked at her.

"What?"

"This world didn’t exist when you were children."

"Then how did I see it?"

Lumi slowly looked at the Heartline Tree.

"Perhaps..."

She hesitated.

"Perhaps this world was waiting for you."

The House That Wasn’t There

That evening—

the Heartline Tree produced its first branch.

A golden branch stretched toward the valley.

Light gathered.

The outline of a building appeared.

Walls.

Roof.

Windows.

A small porch.

Lin Yue stared.

Shen Rui stared.

Lumi gasped.

Aster scanned it.

HABITATION STRUCTURE GENERATED.

Lin Yue walked toward it.

The door opened.

Inside was a simple home.

Kitchen.

Bedroom.

Storage room.

Study.

Workshop.

And a small dining room.

On the wall—

hung a wooden plaque.

LIN YUE & SHEN RUI.

Lin Yue became completely still.

Shen Rui looked at her.

"That’s..."

"Our names."

"Yes."

"Who built it?"

"No one."

The Heartline Tree pulsed.

Aster answered:

"The structure appears to have been generated from stored memory."

Lin Yue whispered:

"Our memories."

The Bedroom

Lin Yue opened the bedroom door.

Inside was a simple wooden bed.

Two blankets.

Two bedside tables.

A window overlooking the river.

She smiled.

"This is nice."

Shen Rui looked around.

"Very."

She turned toward him.

"What?"

"Nothing."

"You’re smiling."

"I am."

"Why?"

He looked at her.

"Because this is the first house that belongs only to us."

Her smile softened.

"Not the Lin household."

"No."

"Not the Golden Space."

"No."

"Not a place someone else gave us."

"No."

She touched the wooden wall.

"We built nothing here yet."

Shen Rui smiled.

"Then we’ll build it."

Their First Dinner

They cooked simple food.

Rice.

Vegetables.

Eggs.

Fresh fruit.

Nothing extraordinary.

But they sat together at the small wooden table.

Lin Yue looked around.

"No servants."

"No council."

"No emergency."

"No ancient Keeper."

"No Elara."

"No world-ending crisis."

She smiled.

"Just us."

Shen Rui raised his cup.

"To our first quiet evening."

Lin Yue raised hers.

"To our new home."

They drank.

Lumi floated nearby.

"And to the farm!"

Lin Yue laughed.

"Yes."

"To the farm."

The First Morning

The next morning—

Lin Yue woke before sunrise.

Shen Rui was still asleep.

She quietly slipped outside.

The valley was covered in mist.

The Heartline Tree shimmered.

She checked the soil.

Then the river.

Then the surrounding forest.

By sunrise—

she had already made a list.

WATER STORAGE. IRRIGATION. SEED TESTING. COMPOST. FENCING. WEATHER OBSERVATION. WILDLIFE SURVEY.

She smiled.

Then a voice came from behind her.

"You’re doing it again."

She turned.

Shen Rui stood there.

"Doing what?"

"Working before breakfast."

She smiled.

"It’s a habit."

He walked toward her.

"Then I’ll make a new habit."

"What?"

"Breakfast first."

She laughed.

"Fine."

The First Farm Together

They spent the morning clearing a small field.

Shen Rui built the fence.

Lin Yue prepared the soil.

Lumi watered the seedlings.

Aster monitored the environment.

No one ordered anyone around.

They simply worked.

By noon—

the first field was ready.

Lin Yue planted beans.

Then wheat.

Then vegetables.

Shen Rui planted fruit trees.

Lumi planted flowers.

Aster recorded everything.

Lin Yue stood back.

"Our first field."

Shen Rui smiled.

"Our first field."

A Different Kind of Kingdom

Lin Yue realized something.

Her old Golden Space had begun as a place of survival.

Then it became a farm.

Then a settlement.

Then a network.

Then a civilization.

But this place was different.

She wasn’t building it because she had nowhere else to go.

She was building it because she had chosen to.

She looked at Shen Rui.

"Do you know what I want this place to be?"

"A farm?"

"Yes."

"Only a farm?"

She shook her head.

"A home."

He smiled.

"Then let’s make it one."

The First Visitor

Three days later—

something landed near the field.

A small creature.

It looked like a fox.

Except—

it had translucent wings.

It stared at Lin Yue.

Lin Yue stared back.

The creature tilted its head.

Lumi whispered:

"Don’t move."

"Why?"

"It may be dangerous."

The creature slowly walked closer.

Then—

it dropped something at Lin Yue’s feet.

A blue seed.

Lin Yue picked it up.

The creature immediately ran away.

Shen Rui looked after it.

"What was that?"

Aster scanned the seed.

UNKNOWN PLANT. ENERGY SIGNATURE: HIGH.

Lin Yue smiled.

"A gift."

"From a winged fox?"

"Apparently."

The Second Seed

Lin Yue planted the blue seed.

Nothing happened.

She waited.

One hour.

Two.

Nothing.

Shen Rui suggested:

"Maybe it’s dormant."

Lin Yue nodded.

Then—

at midnight—

the seed opened.

A blue vine rose from the soil.

It climbed the Heartline Tree.

The tree reacted.

Golden light spread through the valley.

And suddenly—

the sky changed.

The three moons aligned.

A door appeared among the clouds.

Lumi stared.

"That wasn’t supposed to happen."

Lin Yue looked up.

"What is it?"

Aster scanned the phenomenon.

PORTAL DETECTED. DESTINATION:

UNKNOWN.

Shen Rui sighed.

"We just planted a seed."

Lin Yue smiled.

"And apparently grew a portal."

The Message

A message appeared in the sky.

WORLD TWO: ACCESS AVAILABLE.

Lin Yue stared.

"There are more worlds?"

Aster answered:

"Unknown."

Lumi looked frightened.

"No."

Lin Yue turned.

"What?"

Lumi pointed upward.

"That isn’t the problem."

"What is?"

She whispered:

"That portal isn’t leading outward."

Lin Yue frowned.

"Then where is it leading?"

Lumi looked at the Heartline Tree.

"Home."

Lin Yue’s heart stopped.

"Home?"

Lumi nodded.

"To the place where you first lived."

Silence.

Shen Rui looked at Lin Yue.

Her face had gone pale.

The portal opened wider.

Beyond it—

Lin Yue saw a familiar mountain.

A familiar house.

A familiar world.

Her old life.

The life she thought she had left behind.

And standing beside the old house—

was a woman who looked exactly like her.

The woman turned toward the portal.

Then smiled.
