Chapter 384: Chapter 384

The men Lin Jiji sent still didn’t know that Chenyang had already secretly seized the initiative.

They all thought Chenyang was only acting so fearlessly because he had captured their leader, giving him a bargaining chip to threaten the crowd.

Admittedly, with their leader captured, these underlings were indeed in a bit of a panic.

But they didn’t think Chenyang had recognized them, and they were certain he didn’t know the man he’d captured was the representative Lin Jiji had sent.

Under these circumstances, they figured that as long as they acted more aggressively than Chenyang and continued to incite the rest of the crowd, he would remain trapped and unable to escape his current predicament.

With this in mind, the man holding the phone braced himself and took two steps forward.

Then, while filming, he shouted, "Everyone see this? This Chenyang guy is a villain through and through! It’s one thing for him to make a mistake and show no remorse, but now he dares to injure our companion in public! This isn’t just a sign that he looks down on all of us; it proves he’s the cold-blooded monster we all thought he was!

"We can’t back down now! If we let his brazen arrogance grow, even more ordinary people will be hurt by him in the future!"

Another one of his cronies chimed in, "That’s right! The man who got hurt is a warning to us all! He was injured fighting for justice for every one of us! To stop this bastard Chenyang from hurting anyone else, we have to stand together. We have to rescue our man, and we have to take down Chenyang, the real criminal!"

After the first two men stirred the pot, their other accomplices quickly caught on.

They began to shout one after another, "Chenyang’s just one guy! There’s no reason for so many of us to be afraid of him!"

"Yeah! I refuse to believe he’d dare to hurt all of us! I’m calling the police right now, and then we all charge. After we rescue the hero who led the charge, we’ll beat Chenyang to a pulp and hand him over to the cops!"

"We can’t let the man who stood up for us suffer! Everybody, charge!"

Most of the crowd had been stunned by the sight of Chenyang brutally taking down the ringleader.

After all, most of them were agitators with ulterior motives. They were first-rate when it came to stirring up trouble, but when things got real, each one was more cowardly than the last.

As for the rest—the genuinely incited who wanted to demand justice—they were mostly honest, law-abiding folks. They had no problem shouting insults, but they didn’t have the guts for a real fight. To put it bluntly, truly brave people wouldn’t be seeking justice this way to begin with.

So, when Chenyang had taken a firm stance, the crowd had instantly deflated, everyone standing there at a loss, not daring to move forward.

But when the ringleaders began to agitate again, and even took the lead by rushing to the front, the crowd’s resolve began to waver.

First, with others leading the charge, they could hang back and ensure they wouldn’t be the first to get hit.

Second, they had a significant advantage in numbers. No matter how strong Chenyang was, he might take down one or two of them, but he could never take them all down. The moment he was overwhelmed, the rest of the crowd could seize control. Then, they could finally vent all their pent-up frustration.

Furthermore, the agitators’ shouts had struck a chord. It made them feel a pang of guilt, their consciences stirring uncomfortably.

After all, the man who had charged forward and taken a beating had done it for all of them.

Now that Chenyang had him, if they, his comrades, hid or did nothing, they would seem cold and heartless.

And so, after one of them finished calling the police and led a new charge toward Chenyang, the rest stopped thinking. Despite their fear, they braced themselves and surged forward.

But in the chaos, most failed to notice that as the crowd swarmed Chenyang, three people had stayed behind, not moving forward.

All three of them had been sent by Lin Jiji.

Right now, it wasn’t that they were afraid of getting hit. Rather, the sudden appearance of Yan Rongrong was blocking their path, making it impossible for them to advance!
