The Fragrance of My Hot Patients
Chapter 389
Chenyang put away his phone and said with a smirk, “So, folks, are you still going to play the righteous judges and punish me?”
Hearing this, the crowd looked embarrassed and utterly ashamed.
Although they still hadn’t figured out what was up with the so-called evidence online, it wasn’t hard to tell from the current situation that Chenyang had been slandered.
He had only invited these baseless accusations upon himself because he’d accidentally offended Lin Jiji.
The people online had cursed out the wrong person, and these folks causing a scene in real life were basically barking up the wrong tree.
Forget punishing or judging him—after what they’d done, they didn’t even have the right to point a finger at Chenyang!
For a moment, some hung their heads, shifting uncomfortably in their shame.
Others, however, were willing to own up to their actions. “We’re sorry, Doctor Chen,” one said, his face full of apology. “We were in the wrong. We honestly had no idea these people were deliberately slandering and framing you.”
“That’s right. There were photos and videos online, and their manipulation blinded us for a moment. You can probably tell we didn’t mean any harm. We just wanted to get justice for the victim.”
Yan Rongrong retorted sarcastically, “Heh. Coming here to bully the real victim under the guise of ‘getting justice’ for another. You people are ridiculous.”
“I… We didn’t mean to.”
“Don’t worry, now that we know the truth, we’ll be sure to help you out.”
“That’s right! We’ll make up for our mistake with action. We’ll help you set the record straight and see that you get justice!”
Those who had simply been misled now switched their allegiance to Chenyang.
As for Brother Wei and the others who had hoped to profit from the chaos, some stood with their heads bowed in silence, while others took the opportunity to quietly slip away.
Chenyang saw them leaving, but he didn’t try to stop them.
As far as this incident was concerned, they were just insignificant small fry.
Even the ones who stayed didn’t have much of an impact on the bigger picture.
‘The real enemy I have to face is Lin Jiji and his cronies.’
‘Lin Jiji is the source of all this trouble.’
Of course, that didn’t mean the people who stayed weren’t important.
They were witnesses to the truth. Keeping them around could prove quite useful in the next phase of this ordeal.
RING RING RING~!
Just as Chenyang was lost in his thoughts, his phone began to ring urgently.
The moment he answered, he heard Liu Yun’s frantic voice on the other end. “Xiaochen, you need to find a place to hide, now!”
“What’s wrong, Sister Liu?”
“Originally, Dean Kang and I agreed to handle your case at 10 a.m. But a large crowd has gathered outside, and it’s causing a huge disruption for the hospital. Vice Dean Kang just gave an order to open the doors in five minutes and deal with you publicly.”
Hearing this, Chenyang gave a calm laugh. “I’ve already taken care of the crowd. Tell Vice Dean Kang that not only will these people cause no harm to the hospital, they might even end up being a benefit.”
Liu Yun frowned. “Taken care of? You’re at the hospital?”
Chenyang chuckled and gave her a brief rundown of what had just happened.
However, after listening, Liu Yun didn’t look as relieved as Chenyang had expected. Instead, her voice was still fraught with worry. “Just handling them isn’t going to be enough.
We just got word that reporters from television stations, some independent media outlets, and even the police are on their way here.
Vice Dean Kang used his connections to do some digging. They’re all coming for you. It looks like some media outlets have been paid off by Lin Jiji. The plan is to use yesterday’s incident to first condemn you, demand an explanation from the hospital, and then use the opportunity to praise Lin Jiji for his ‘heroic’ efforts in seeking justice for the victim, boosting his influence and fame in the process.”
Chenyang laughed. “Spoken like a true celebrity who built his career on hype. He never misses a chance to take advantage of a situation, does he? Even in a mess like this, he still finds a way to make himself look good.”
“Aren’t all celebrities like that? As long as there’s a chance to become more famous, they’ll jump on it, good or bad. And the smaller media outlets make their living off this kind of sensational news.”
Liu Yun paused for a moment. “Anyway, let’s not get sidetracked. Vice Dean Kang said he can’t handle the pressure anymore. The Dean and some city officials are on their way here now.
I sounded him out. To protect the hospital from the fallout, they’re preparing to throw you under the bus as a scapegoat, regardless of your innocence.
It’s a dirty move, I know, but desperate times call for desperate measures. A hospital this big always has rivals watching its every move. One misstep, and it won’t just be your job on the line—everyone in the hospital could suffer.”
Chenyang’s lips twisted into a wry smile. “Tsk. So if I take the fall for all of this, does that make me the hero who saved the entire hospital?”
“Yes! Because I know you’re innocent, taking the fall would, in fact, be saving everyone. But you can’t do it!”
