Chenyang asked in surprise, “Why?”

Liu Yun sighed. “I asked a friend about this. If you can’t produce evidence to prove your innocence, you’ll be sent to prison after they pin these charges on you.

“Minimum three years, maximum five. If that happens, your whole life will be ruined.”

“If that’s the case, then running is useless, right? Besides, if I run and get caught, won’t the charges be even worse?”

“I’m not telling you to run, just to lay low for a bit. I’m having someone contact some of Lin Jiji’s superiors to see if we can handle this privately. As long as we can reach an agreement with them, it’ll just be an apology and some money at most. You’ll be fine then.”

Hearing this, Chenyang was touched, but he also had to laugh.

He was touched because Liu Yun had been doing so much for him behind the scenes.

Although Liu Yun and Chenyang had slept together, there weren’t many emotions involved.

To put it bluntly, they were like friends with benefits, just a little more familiar than most.

With a relationship like that, just putting in a few good words for him with Vice Dean Kang would have been more than enough.

But besides constantly putting in a good word with Vice Dean Kang to buy him time, she had also given him the greatest possible protection at the hospital and quietly done so much more to help him behind the scenes.

Growing up, no one other than the old man had ever been this good to Chenyang.

And the amusing part was that Liu Yun’s plan was completely unworkable.

Lin Jiji hadn’t framed Chenyang for money. He just wanted to vent his anger and show off in front of Lin Xiaoyue.

To Lin Jiji’s company, this was just a trivial matter. They wouldn’t make Lin Jiji back down for a little bit of money or a few words of apology.

Thinking of this, Chenyang gave a wry smile. “Sister Liu, thank you for helping me so much, but please tell your friend to stop. It’s useless even if they manage to contact the leadership at Lin Jiji’s company.

“I’m just a nobody. I can’t afford to pay much, and whatever I could offer, they wouldn’t even look at.

“This business between me and Lin Jiji is his personal affair. The company won’t get too involved, and they certainly won’t make him back down over a little bit of money.”

Liu Yun actually understood all this. She sighed. “It’s worth a try. What if it works?”

“There’s no need to try. I’ve already found a way to solve all this. Tell Vice Dean Kang and the others to open the hospital gates as usual. I won’t run, and I won’t hide. I’ll cooperate with them, but please ask them to give me a little time to handle things before they announce any decisions.”

“Are you sure your plan will work?”

“Positive! And as long as the hospital administration cooperates, I can even give them a huge gift.”

“Just resolving this peacefully would be great. The gift doesn’t matter.”

“No, it’s very important!” Chenyang said with conviction. “Those people don’t just distrust me, right? They’ve also pulled the same scapegoating stunt on another doctor under you before. Later, I’ll not only use this gift to slap them in the face, but I’ll also get justice for you and for that colleague who was fired for no reason!”

Hearing this, a glimmer of hope appeared on Liu Yun’s pretty face.

Although she found it hard to believe that Chenyang could devise a way to resolve this peacefully, a part of her had always hoped that someone would one day stand up, create a fair environment in the hospital, and force the administration to stop their despicable practice of finding an innocent, honest person to scapegoat whenever trouble arose!

She took a deep breath. “Alright. Since you’re so confident, we’ll do it your way. If you need any help from me, just ask.”

“I don’t need any help. Just relay what I just said to the hospital administration. As for the rest… just wait and watch the show.”

After hanging up, Chenyang looked at Yan Rongrong. “General Manager Yan, I just got word. The police, the media, and leaders from the relevant departments are all about to make an appearance.”

Yan Rongrong was speechless. “They’re making such a huge fuss over this little bit of bullshit. These people must be fucking bored out of their minds.”

“Well, it’s a scene kicked up by a big celebrity. The leaders have to take it seriously.”

“Hah. They don’t care when poor villagers are starving or when foremen maliciously withhold wages from migrant workers. But they pour all this energy into some actor’s trashy little drama. It’s so fucking ironic.”

“General Manager Yan, be careful what you say!”

“Careful my ass! Actors like Lin Jiji are the biggest parasites in our society. I really don’t know if his fans were born without brains or if they got water in them after they were born, to actually worship someone like that.”

Yan Rongrong snorted angrily, then said, “You go do what you need to do. I’ll handle the people from the police station. I’ll have my friend deal with the media. As for those leaders… maybe I should give my dad a call?”
