The Fragrance of My Hot Patients
Chapter 391
When he heard Yan Rongrong was going to call her director father for backup, Chenyang quickly waved his hand. “Don’t be ridiculous. The officials are just here to urge the hospital to solve this matter, not to specifically make trouble for me.
“If you call your dad over, the whole nature of this will change. If it’s not handled well, never mind what happens to me—even your dad will be implicated.”
Yan Rongrong frowned. “Even if the officials are just here to oversee things, they’re still influential figures. What if they make a final decision before we’ve had a chance to present what we’ve prepared? It’ll still be bad for you. At a time like this, it’s best to find someone with enough weight to stall them.”
Of course, Chenyang understood the logic. The problem was… ‘I’m just a nobody, where am I supposed to find someone with that kind of pull?’
‘Calling Yan Rongrong’s father is definitely out of the question. For one, I don’t know the man and have no connection with him. Maybe Rongrong could convince him to come, but I could never repay a favor that big.’
‘For another, the officials who are coming are from the healthcare system and related city departments. They’re not in the same system as Yan Rongrong’s father. Even if he showed up, he probably wouldn’t have much influence.’
With this in mind, Chenyang waved dismissively. “That scenario you described probably won’t happen. After all, we have ironclad evidence that can refute all of Lin Jiji’s slanderous accusations.
“As long as Liu Yue moves fast enough, we might have this whole thing wrapped up before the officials even finish arriving.”
Yan Rongrong let out a heavy sigh. “I hope you’re right.”
“I’m sure of it.”
Chenyang smiled and turned to the crowd. “Everyone, you all know the situation now.
“Next up, Lin Jiji plans to use the media to continue pressuring me, and he also plans to have me fired from the hospital.
“If any of you want to watch the show and see me made into a laughingstock, now would be the time to find a good spot.”
“Brother Chen, don’t make fun of us. We all know you were framed. How could we possibly be here to laugh at you?”
“That’s right! We know the real story now. Out of apology, we’ll all be your witnesses in a bit.”
Most of them wanted to atone for having viciously condemned Chenyang earlier. But a few remained silent.
Chenyang smiled. “In that case, let’s head over to the hospital.”
“Alright!”
Everyone turned. The majority headed for the hospital gates, while a few quietly slipped away, clearly having no intention of getting further involved in the commotion.
Yan Rongrong pointed to Brother Wei and his men. “What about this lot?”
“They’re all witnesses. Of course we’re bringing them along.”
As he spoke, Chenyang first waved to An Xiaoqing in the car, then draped an arm over Brother Wei’s shoulder. “I’ll give you two choices.
“One, be a cooperating witness. Use the recordings and chat logs on your phone to help me incriminate Lin Jiji. Do that, and I’ll let you all leave.
“Two, you can stick with Lin Jiji to the bitter end. With his resources, he can surely protect you from my retaliation, but… whether he’ll actually bother to shelter you is a different story.”
Brother Wei’s expression wavered. ‘If my phone hadn’t ended up in Chenyang’s hands, if he hadn’t seen those recordings and messages, Lin Jiji might have actually protected me. But now Chenyang has all the evidence. Even if I try to deny everything, there’s no way Lin Jiji will shield me.’
At this thought, he gave a helpless smile. “Do I really have a choice?”
“HA HA, you could always choose to trust Lin Jiji.”
“All you did was make him lose a little face, and he’s already raised such a huge fuss to deal with you. I’ve betrayed him, even if I was forced to. Once he finds out, I’ll probably end up worse off than you.”
Brother Wei shrugged. “I’ll help you incriminate him, but I need you to let me go afterward and guarantee I won’t get arrested by the police.”
Chenyang scoffed. “I can let you go, but whether or not the police arrest you isn’t my call.”
“I have another secret about Lin Jiji. It’s not related to your case, but if you use it against him, it will absolutely ruin his reputation.”
“Oh? What’s the secret?”
“You have to promise I won’t be arrested. Only then will I tell you.”
“Fine. I can give you that guarantee.” Yan Rongrong stepped forward and said, “As long as helping Lin Jiji is the only illegal thing you’ve done, I can ensure you won’t be arrested.”
“You’re Director Yan’s daughter?”
“That’s right! Here in Yang City, I doubt anyone would dare pretend to be his daughter, right?”
Hearing this, Brother Wei immediately nodded. “No, definitely no one would dare.”
“In that case, hurry up and tell us the secret you know.”
