After hearing Lin Jiji’s words, Liu Yue suddenly had the urge to jump up and slap him across the face!

‘Who the hell do you think you are?’ she thought.

‘Do you really think a little fame makes you God Almighty?’

‘You’re nothing more than a second-rate celebrity propped up by the company’s resources.’

‘Ruin the hospital?’

‘Tank an entire city’s economy and grind all its industries to a halt?’

‘Even A-list celebrities wouldn’t dare say something so outrageous! What gives a nobody like you the nerve to spout such bullshit!?’

If Lin Jiji had only said he was going to ruin Chenyang, it might not have been such a difficult task. After all, he was richer than the average person and had millions of fans.

But to say he could ruin the City Hospital and cause Yang City’s economy to decline—that was an absolute joke.

The City Hospital was backed by Yang City’s entire medical system, and beyond that, by the provincial health authorities.

As a rising quasi-first-tier city, Yang City’s growth was fueled by countless influential figures.

On a larger scale, both the City Hospital and Yang City itself were backed by the state.

And Lin Jiji was just a minor celebrity with a bit of fame in the entertainment industry. Forget him—even the company backing him wouldn’t have the guts to take on the state.

Besides, if word of this got out, he wouldn’t just be offending the City Hospital and the Yangcheng Government—he’d be signing his own death warrant.

Liu Yue was truly glad she’d seen Lin Jiji’s ugly side sooner rather than later. If she continued to associate with such an arrogant man with no filter, she would inevitably be dragged down with him.

Of course, she didn’t voice any of these thoughts.

Right now, all Liu Yue felt for Lin Jiji was hatred. The love was gone. And she was already preparing to exact her brutal revenge.

As the old saying goes: whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.

To get her revenge, the best course of action was to play along and feed his ego. She would lift him up to the highest pinnacle, only to watch with her own eyes as he came crashing down. That was the only way!

With this in mind, Liu Yue smiled. “Brother Ji is right. With your fame and influence, forget a tiny hospital—if even a huge place like Yang City pisses you off, you could bring it to a standstill!”

“But of course!” The corners of Lin Jiji’s mouth tilted up, his face a mask of insufferable pride.

After a brief pause, he squinted at the scene inside the hospital. “Those lower-level managers are pretty sharp,” he said. “They know they can’t afford to offend me, so they’ve put on this whole show just to suck up to me.”

“Seeing as they know their place, I’ll just hold Chenyang responsible. As for the hospital, I’ll be the bigger man and let them off the hook this time.”

Liu Yue’s lips twitched. ‘Do you have any shame at all?’ she thought.

‘The hospital is only making such a fuss because they’re worried about their own interests. What the hell does it have to do with you?’

‘If it weren’t for the incident with Chenyang, the City Hospital wouldn’t even give you the time of day!’

“Stop the car! Back up!”

A slightly hoarse voice suddenly called out from in front of the car.

Lin Jiji frowned and looked over to see a security guard blocking their car’s path.

“What’s going on?”

The driver shook his head. “I don’t know. The cars in front of us got in just fine, but when it was our turn, the guard wouldn’t raise the barrier.”

Lin Jiji scoffed, “Tell him to open the gate, and hurry up about it. Fucking hell, some worthless security guard dares to block my car? Does he have a death wish?”

The man had been driving for Lin Jiji for several years. Being treated with deference at all the high-end venues they frequented had, over time, made him quite arrogant as well.

He rolled down the window and yelled, “What the hell are you looking at? Hurry up and raise the gate! Do you have any idea who’s in this car?”

The guard glanced at him. “I don’t care if it’s God Almighty in there, you have to back the car up. The director just gave the order: no vehicles are allowed to enter.”

“Other cars might not be allowed, but this one is.”

“And why’s that? You got the Party Secretary or the mayor in there?”

“I… I have Lin Jiji in the car!”

Lin Jiji?

Hearing the name, a strange glint appeared in the guard’s eyes before he shook his head. “Never heard of him. You can’t enter.”

“Lin Jiji is a huge star! You…”

HONK!

HONK!!

Before the driver could finish his retort, two sharp honks sounded from behind them.

The guard glanced up, then hurried back to their window. “Hurry up and back up. The car behind you needs to get in.”

Hearing this, the driver was instantly incensed. “Didn’t you just say the hospital director ordered no vehicles to enter? How come you’re letting them in now?”
