From his debut until now, Lin Jiji’s career had been nothing but smooth sailing.

The people at his company, the organizers of his commercial events, and even the industry seniors and peers he’d met were all very courteous to him.

Forget about being yelled at, hit, or disrespected; even during the occasional minor conflict, no one dared to raise their voice at him.

To outsiders, it seemed he enjoyed such special treatment because of Sister Rose’s influence and the power of the company backing him.

But in his eyes, he had earned it all through his own abilities.

As his fame grew, so did his arrogance.

This was the first time he’d ever encountered a situation quite like this.

He had faced similar scenarios before. But in the past, any security guard who dared to mouth off wouldn’t even get a second sentence out before being fiercely reprimanded by the relevant authorities. They’d end up bowing their heads—or even kneeling—to apologize to him.

Just now, he had assumed that once he showed his face, the security guard would act just like all the others before him.

He thought that both the officials in the courtyard and the ones in the cars behind him would respectfully let him enter first.

But who would have thought? This guard didn’t follow the usual script.

Without another word, he’d called in a forklift.

In the blink of an eye, the commercial van was already half a meter off the ground.

Although the forklift had a high load capacity, the vibrations and swaying were intense as it lifted the vehicle and moved it forward.

It felt as if the van could tip over and crash at any moment.

Lin Jiji was terrified.

Terrified of dying in a wreck.

Terrified that the face that could charm his fans and rich old women would be ruined.

“Quick… stop!”

“Damn it, make them stop!”

Lin Jiji raged impotently, but the RUMBLE of the forklift was too loud. Besides his driver and Liu Yue, no one else could hear his screams.

The violently shaking van was moved to the side of the road, next to a large tree.

It was unclear if the forklift operator was doing it on purpose or if the inertia was too great, but the van was about to slam into the tree.

RUMBLE!

“Stop!”

“Holy shit, is this maniac really trying to kill us?”

Panicked, Lin Jiji didn’t have time to stop it. He roared at his driver, “Open the door! I’m jumping out, or I’ll be crushed inside!”

“Ah… Oh!”

The driver froze for a moment. As he was opening the side door, he also opened his own door and jumped out first.

The driver’s side was closer to the tree. The moment he landed, the door he’d just opened slammed into the trunk, which was as thick as a man’s waist, and was instantly crushed and deformed.

A branch as thick as an arm, which had been accidentally snapped, happened to fall and strike Lin Jiji on the leg just as he jumped down.

That leg had already been slightly injured yesterday. Now, after this sudden blow, a sickening CRACK echoed as the bone fractured. He collapsed to the ground, wailing in agony.

In the past, Liu Yue would have risked her own life to save Lin Jiji. But now, she chose to step on his body as she jumped out of the vehicle.

SCREECH!

THUD!

At the same time, the forklift stopped, and an ambulance sped into the courtyard.

“Somebody help!”

“My leg is broken! Liu Yue, hurry up and get a doctor!”

Liu Yue glanced at the pathetic-looking Lin Jiji, nodded with feigned concern, and rushed toward the hospital. But as soon as she was out of his sight, she slowed her pace to a leisurely stroll.

The driver pulled Lin Jiji up from the ground and propped him against the nearby tree.

Just then, the Audi and the Volkswagen drove slowly past them. The windows rolled down, and the officials inside all looked his way.

“The fuck are you looking at? Haven’t you ever seen someone get hurt before?”

“Fuck you all! The people in this damn Yang City are all a bunch of lowlife bastards! Not a single one of you is any good.”

One of the officials frowned and asked the person beside him in a low voice, “Is he really that glamorous superstar from TV?”

His subordinate’s lips curled into a smirk. “The difference is certainly… stark.”

“I’m suddenly starting to suspect that the doctor, Chenyang, might have really been framed by him.”

“It’s hard to say. There’s a lot of negative talk online about Doctor Chen, and there’s some evidence too. However, based on Lin Jiji’s current behavior, it’s highly likely there’s more to the story.”

“Investigate it thoroughly. We can’t let a good person be wronged, and we absolutely cannot let a bad one get away.”

“Yes, sir.” The subordinate paused for a moment before asking tentatively, “If Lin Jiji really did orchestrate this, then… how should we handle him?”

“We handle him according to the law, of course.”

“But he’s a celebrity…”

“So what if he’s a celebrity? Does that mean he has an extra head on his shoulders? Does that give him the right to throw his weight around and do as he pleases in Yang City?!”
