The Fragrance of My Hot Patients
Chapter 429
Lin Jiji froze for a moment, then retorted with a strained expression, “Testimony from artists? What testimony? I bet you just hired actors, didn’t you?”
Chenyang sneered, “You have to be fucking brain-dead to use that as a rebuttal.”
“You’re the one who’s brain-dead.”
“We’ll see who’s really brain-dead after you look at this.”
As he spoke, Chenyang tapped his phone and turned the screen toward Lin Jiji, Zhang Hongtu, and the others. He began to scroll, pointing at several names. “Look closely,” he said. “The first official media outlet to provide evidence of you coercing artists is Huaxia Entertainment! That’s the most authoritative official platform in the industry. The second official media outlet is Yangcheng Entertainment, a platform managed by the local Cultural Affairs Bureau. The evidence they’re showing is the video of you hiring people to smear my name at the hotel entrance yesterday. Then there’s the celebrity who publicly denounced you and provided evidence of you coercing artists—this heavyweight called Young Master Yu. I don’t know his real name, but with over ten million followers, you can tell he’s no ordinary figure.”
At this point, Chenyang shoved the phone screen right in Lin Jiji’s face. “Open your damn eyes and look carefully. Even if I, Chenyang, had all the power in the world, there’s no way I could get state-run media involved, let alone convince a heavyweight with tens of millions of followers to be my paid shill, right?”
“I… You… This…” Lin Jiji stammered, at a complete loss for words. His face instantly turned deathly pale.
As an industry insider, he knew better than anyone how much weight the official media carried. He also knew who Young Master Yu was.
Young Master Yu was the social media handle of a top-tier superstar in the entertainment world.
Not only was he a veteran in the field, but he also had a powerful background.
He had debuted over twenty years ago and had remained wildly popular the entire time, making him one of the rare evergreens of the entertainment world.
More importantly, this Young Master Yu was notorious for being unable to tolerate the slightest injustice.
Over the years, anytime he got wind of a star or artist doing something shady, he would relentlessly pursue the matter to the very end. He practically wouldn’t rest until the other person was completely blacklisted.
Years ago, an artist at Lin Jiji’s own company had just broken into the A-list. But after he cheated on his partner once, Young Master Yu found out and broadcast it all over the internet. In the end, the artist was not only shelved by his company but also left his marriage with nothing, his reputation in absolute tatters!
After that incident, the company issued an iron-clad rule to all its artists: no matter the time or place, they were absolutely forbidden from offending Young Master Yu!
And now, he hadn’t gone out of his way to offend the man, but he’d ended up a target all the same.
One could only imagine the consequences of being targeted by a man like that!
At this thought, Lin Jiji broke out in a cold sweat. ‘I’m screwed!’ he screamed internally.
Lin Xiaoyue was just as aware of all this as he was.
The moment she heard the name “Young Master Yu,” the way she looked at Lin Jiji changed.
Then, seeing his flustered panic, the trust she had in him began to crumble. “Lin Jiji, you were lying to me before, weren’t you?”
“Xiaoyue, I… It’s not what you think. I did some of the things they’re saying online, but the illegal stuff… I really didn’t do any of that. I…”
Lin Yongkun cut him off with a cold snort. “Still trying to lie to my niece at a time like this?”
“Uncle Lin, I…”
“Don’t call me ‘Uncle.’ I’m not your uncle. And stay away from my niece. There’s no way she would ever date a piece of scum like you.”
Lin Jiji took a deep breath. “Even if I’ve done bad things in the past, my feelings for Xiaoyue are genuine! I’m the one who saved her at the car accident! If it wasn’t for me, Chenyang would have taken advantage of her, and the delay in her treatment would have left her paralyzed!”
Hearing this, some of the anger on Lin Xiaoyue’s face dissipated.
She had to admit that in that moment, her feelings for Lin Jiji had shifted from affection to utter loathing.
Still, the memory of him saving her and stopping Chenyang from taking advantage of her was deeply affecting.
With this in mind, she turned to Lin Yongkun. “Uncle, it’s true that you can’t fault him for saving me. And whether he’s a good person or not, that doesn’t change the fact that Chenyang tried to take advantage of me. I won’t see him again, but you can’t keep trusting a despicable villain like Chenyang either!!”
