Chapter 1334: Chapter 883: Expedition Team Interlude (2)

"Then what the hell are we talking about, praise the Night Watchers, and praise the Holy Light again."

"Ha! Speaking of Victor, that Iron Can leader," Daniel laughed roughly, breaking the momentary heaviness, "I heard their ’Ironclad Fortress’ is as stable as a turtle shell now? Though the cost...tsk."

He shook his head, clearly recalling the devastation when that Earth-shaking Rock Armor Beast crashed into the support pillar.

To talk about what’s different now compared to before, or rather, the biggest difference in becoming an Adventurer now is the more well-informed news.

This makes them always eager to follow news from elsewhere, know the overall situation on the frontline battlefield, hear some news from the rear, and learn about other continents, which makes them somewhat addicted and offers significant comfort to their minds.

"Who made them gnaw on the hardest pass? But thanks to them, they’ve drawn the fire," Leah said calmly.

"In this situation now, you still have to tie your brain to your waistband, but at least...you’ve got a waistband to tie it with, so you’re not just running bare-assed?"

"Know there’s a place to heal when you’re injured, a place to resupply when ammo runs out, and legendary characters holding the line at the rear."

She paused, adding, "The Night Watchers’ reinforcements this time, indeed, spared no expense."

"Spared no expense? Hmph, I think they had no choice!" Daniel took a big swig of the pink powder drink provided by the Night Watchers, which replenished Physical Strength and weakly resisted the erosion of Chaos Magic Power, wiping his mouth.

"Those old bastards sitting on golden toilets in the Royal Capital, on the one hand cursing and saying things like ’the expedition’s granted land is for mud-legs to taint noble bloodlines.’

"And on the other hand secretly funding their own pioneer teams to sneak in here and grab territory, utterly shameless bastards!"

"If the Night Watchers don’t stabilize the frontlines, those noble lords’ ’private’ pioneer teams in the rear would probably be eaten by Void Creatures and local monsters as a snack!"

"If I were a Night Watcher, I’d want to twist off these fat noble hogs’ heads and kick them like balls, then take a dump in their heads."

"Ugh, that’s a bit disgusting, but cheers, hahaha!"

"Cheers!"

"Ain’t that right!" Fercheck leaned in, lowering his voice, his face full of gossipy excitement.

"I heard recently the Night Watchers have been low-key, busy extinguishing newly emerging Void Rifts everywhere, and for this, they’ve even clashed with the councils of several major southern city-states.

"Those fools, just caring about seizing power and refusing to open borders to let the Night Watchers go in and clear out rifts, babbling about ’sovereignty is sacred’! Bah!

"When the Void monsters creep into their bedrooms, we’ll see how sacred they feel! I’m standing with the Night Watchers, the residents of those city-states are really unlucky to have those lords over them!"

"Your information isn’t complete, I heard the Night Watchers didn’t even bother to listen at the time, they just rushed through, and they dared not say a word, only loudly proclaiming the Night Watchers disrespected them."

Leah frowned slightly, "These matters... are too far from us. But the increasing pressure on the Night Watchers recently is indeed visible to the naked eye."

"Far?" Daniel sneered, "If this drags on, no one will stay far. If our ’Ironclad Broken Cliff’ doesn’t remove that damn Gate of Void, we’ll just keep grinding down with those damn ghosts. Look at this ghost of a place."

He waved his rough big hand, pointing to the twisted horizon outside the shield, "How many months? How much progress? Ten kilometers? Twenty kilometers? The front line is drawn out longer than an Elf’s foot wrappings.

"Everything from the rear—supplies, men—depends on that one Warship Port checkpoint. I feel tired for them!"

"Damn you and your foot wrappings, Daniel, close your damn stinking mouth."

There are plenty of Elves here, and they immediately started cussing.

Speaking of the Warship Port, Fercheck’s big ears suddenly perked up like a radar, a glint flashing in his eyes.

"Hey! Speaking of the Warship Port and the rear... Brothers, I’ve got a fresh, absolutely authentic ’dock secret’ here!"

He rubbed his fingers mysteriously, successfully drawing everyone’s attention.

Even Leah put down her Magic Staff.

"Spit it out, shorty! If you keep us in suspense, I’ll throw you out like a Dwarf cannonball!" Daniel shouted impatiently.

"It’s the fleet!" Fercheck’s voice dropped lower, yet he couldn’t suppress his excitement.

"A Night Watcher fleet! It left Ring Tower City just a few days ago and is rushing full speed ahead toward our Tariel Continent! It’s not small, led by a specially modified giant transport ship, so big it could swallow a mountain!"

"Several merchant ships running the Emerald Sea route saw it from a distance, and the shape...tsk, definitely not an ordinary cargo ship!"

Everyone held their breath slightly.

Heavy transport ship? Special modifications?

"This setup..." Martha murmured, "Sounds a bit familiar?"

"More than familiar!" Fercheck slapped his thigh.

"Just last time! When they transported that ’Iron Flower Structure’ that could fly in the sky and build a tower with a few bangs, wasn’t it this kind of massive transport ship too?!"

"Iron Flower Structure?" Leah’s eyes narrowed, "The one above the Warship Port? It can stabilize Magic Power, speed up construction... Could the Night Watchers have brought another one over?"

"Upgraded version? Building a new city?"

Daniel frowned, looking dubious, "Nonsense! The Warship Port is damn near hundreds of miles from our forefront! We’re crawling sideways like crabs along the coastline, a long way off.

"Look at the map, from the port to those side development areas, like near Black Stone Pass, it’s nearly...well, at least hundreds of kilometers straight line."

"The port is bustling, but packed with people, goods stacked upon goods, I heard even dock space is running out, various approvals are slow as snails!"

He glanced at Leah, "Leah, how long did you wait last time you went back to port for supplies?"

Leah thought for a moment, responding helplessly, "We queued half a morning for mission settlement, then waited another afternoon for special arrowhead replenishment.

"The port’s functional areas are already very detailed, but the volume of people and material throughput...is indeed far beyond expectations. Even with the Iron Flower Structure speeding up construction, the expansion pace seems unable to keep up with the explosive growth in demand. Remote outposts applying for special supplies require layers of approval, a damn hassle."

"So," Fercheck picked up, assuming a ’I get it’ look.

"I guess, this time what they’re transporting is very likely an evolved version of the Iron Flower Structure! Specifically to set up a new city closer to the port, where pressure is less, to share the burden of the Warship Port and make the supply lines smoother!"

"Bullshit!"

Daniel slammed the ground, shaking the campfire.

"Building a new city? What good does building a new city hundreds of miles from the frontline do? We’re stuck at this ’Ironclad Broken Cliff’! If that damn Gate of Void isn’t sealed, we’ll never truly move inland a step!

"The daily consumption of supplies and loss of brothers is like water flowing! The rear port is bursting, while the front bleeds and waits for death! Dragging on, the whole expedition’s backbone will be snapped!"

He gasped, looking around at the somber faces of his companions illuminated by the Firelight, speaking resolutely:

"I’ll bet this beast hide! The Night Watcher lords aren’t idiots! This big treasure is definitely not just some Iron Flower upgrade for building a new city!

"It’s aimed for the front line! It’s specifically to deal with those damned invincible Void bastards!"

His murky eyes shone with a near-obsessive conviction.

"Just wait and see, what’s loaded in that big ship, it must be capable of blowing the Gate of Void sky-high...or at least sending those ghostly things back home as a ’big surprise’!"

His voice echoed loudly, seeming to be heard throughout the camp.

Whether he hoped so or believed so, none could say.

The campfire crackled, outside the shield, amid the twisted forest and the Gate of Void’s roars, a harsh symphony played in the night.

The news Fercheck brought, like a stone tossed into stagnant water, stirred ripples of speculation, and in this oppressive frontline camp, Ignited a glimmer of faint yet burning hope.

A ’big surprise’ that might change the course of this hellish map was crossing the raging sea, heading toward the Tariel Continent, breaking the waves.

What comes next.

No one knows, but at least, in the soldiers’ weary eyes, besides bloodshot lines, there seemed to be a little something more.

After all, the Night Watchers always managed to come up with something new, things they couldn’t even begin to understand, yet incredibly powerful.
