Chapter 1410: Chapter 918: Tender Moments (Part 2)
After all, the other party, as the person in charge, didn’t seem to be keen on strictly managing these matters.
"Things have been a bit dull lately," Bobo shook his head, his ears twitching, adopting a slightly fawning tone.
"I was thinking, could you approve some time off for me? I’m planning to take a look at the Abyss. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Raelia, and I really miss her.
"Besides, I haven’t had the chance to thoroughly experience the Abyss yet. I only had a brief glance while tagging along with the main unit earlier—that wasn’t satisfying at all!"
A glow named "adventure" sparkled in her big eyes.
Upon hearing this, Alyris crossed her arms, slightly tilted her head, and glanced at the other sideways.
The look was sharp as a knife, though not a word was uttered; the meaning of "don’t even think about it" was clearly conveyed.
The Abyss Battlefield is extremely perilous, and how could a non-combat personnel, especially such an important technical core, be allowed to venture recklessly?
Moreover, staffing was still very tight at that moment, particularly the management personnel.
Experiments were already bothersome and chaotic. Without Bobo, things would be even more uncontrollable.
Bobo was naturally not satisfied with such an answer.
Her small face immediately fell, her lips pursed, her three-part mouth muttered as she prepared to argue or start a new round of cajoling.
Suddenly, Alyris’s ruby-like pupils slightly tightened as if she sensed some extremely subtle spatial disturbance. A barely detectable smile appeared at the corner of her mouth, and she then waved her hand without hesitation.
A gentle yet irresistible invisible force instantly bound Bobo, still squirming on the chair, wrapping her like an invisible bubble and lightly tossing her out of the open floor-to-ceiling window.
The entire act was swift like lightning, smooth and seamless, and Bobo only had time to let out a short yelp:
"What are you..."
The sound, along with her figure, flickered outside the window and vanished.
Almost in the next second after Bobo was tossed out, the air in the office seemed to ripple like water, with minute spatial waves spreading out. Kana’s figure, as if forming from the Void, calmly emerged from within.
"Hmm?"
Kana’s golden gaze swept through the slightly empty office, carrying a hint of doubt.
"Why are you here alone? I just seemed to hear that Bobo fellow’s voice."
His perception was incredibly sharp, even though he had not arrived yet, the echo of the voice seemed to still linger in the air.
As Alyris looked at Kana, who unexpectedly appeared before her after such a long time, the aura of the Chief Judge, awe-inspiring and unapproachable, melted away like snow under the sun, leaving her less burdened, her demeanor naturally becoming gentle and tender.
She did not speak, just walked over slowly with a fragrance, gently snuggling her body against Kana’s broad chest like a weary bird returning to its nest.
"You must have heard wrong."
Alyris buried her face against his neck, her voice muffled, carrying an unnoticeable hint of coyness.
"Really?"
Kana chuckled indulgently, unbothered by this obvious excuse of an answer.
His full attention was now focused on Alyris in his arms, gazing tenderly at her in a momentary demure state unarmored.
His broad hand stretched out, carrying a divine glow, brushing over her silver hair cascading like a moonlit waterfall.
The fingertips felt the smooth, cool texture, finally resting lightly on Alyris’s gracefully contoured back, slightly exerting force to draw her closer into his embrace.
"It’s been so long," Kana lowered his head, leaning near her delicate earlobe, his voice suppressed to the lowest, soft and fine like silky threads, accompanied by a warm breath, infiltrating Alyris’s ear, stirring up a slight tremble, "Missed me?"
Alyris still did not respond with words, letting her actions speak volumes.
Her arms tightened abruptly, opening her hands to firmly wrap around Kana’s sturdy waist, pressing herself tightly, seamlessly against him, as if wishing to melt into him, to never part.
Feeling the attachment and longing in her power, the curve at Kana’s mouth deepened, lifting into a knowing smile.
His arms encircled her, gently drawing her over, turning a few steps, seating them both on the wide, comfortable chair.
Alyris adjusted herself compliantly, relaxing her whole body into Kana’s embrace, sitting sideways on his lap, her arms still wrapped around his neck.
At this moment, her eyes shimmered, full of gentle affection, completely losing the cold and dignified aura of a Chief Judge or Valkyrie in front of outsiders, leaving only a woman’s dependency.
"What have you been up to lately?"
Alyris slightly raised her head and reached out, her slender fingertips showing affection, gently stroking Kana’s well-defined chin, her voice carrying a hint of laziness and curiosity as she asked.
Kana caught her mischievous little hand, extending his own to gently hold her restless hand, wrapping it in his palm against his face.
Feeling the slight coolness of her fingertips, he spoke intricately, as if narrating a long story, about his experiences in the Titan World, the situation in the Abyss, and his plans.
Amidst the rare moment of warmth, the low murmur between the two continued.
"Kana is here! Kana is here!"
The round puppet on the table, forgotten until now, suddenly seemed to have a short circuit and then reconnect, bursting out in a piercing shriek.
The sharp electronic sound instantly shattered their tender ambiance like cold water splashing across their faces.
Kana’s brow furrowed in displeasure as his gaze shifted towards the noisy source.
Looking at this still "lively" round puppet, he reached out with a hint of helplessness and nostalgia, tapping its cool metal casing from a distance.
The sphere wobbled slightly from the tap.
"Why," Kana’s voice had a touch of amused frustration, "do you still keep this silly thing?"
He recognized it immediately as his very first, almost beginner-level creation, which Alyris spirited away as a treasure.
Unexpectedly, after all these years, he saw it again here. Calculating the time, it’s been nearly twenty years.
Upon hearing this, Alyris also turned her head, her gaze falling on the sphere, and reached out with a peculiar tenderness, gently tapping the puppet’s smooth head.
A faint smile appeared on her lips, "It’s quite good," her voice was soft, "Don’t you think... this silly and a bit clumsy look is actually quite cute?"
She looked at Kana, a trace of determination and memory in her eyes.
"Is that so?" Kana looked at her serious expression, chuckled silently and shook his head, "Your aesthetic... I really can’t understand." His voice was filled with indulgence.
His gaze returned to Alyris, a warm smile spreading in his eyes, "As long as you like it."
He again took Alyris’s hand, their fingers naturally intertwining, ten fingers interlocked.
Their gazes met, the silence infused the air with a mutual understanding and affection.
A faint, almost indiscernible pink glow seemed to quietly emerge and flow around them.
The next second, space shifted again.
Their figures instantly vanished from the office, leaving only the quiet alchemy sphere and the lingering warmth in the air.
...
Shortly afterward.
The office door was violently knocked open by a force!
"Damn Alyris! What were you doing just now..."
Bobo stormed in angrily, her white fur a bit disheveled, obviously just returned from outside, breath still uneven, eager to voice her grievances.
However, upon seeing the empty office, her brewing anger deflated like a punctured balloon.
She froze at the door, blinking her big eyes, looking bewildered.
Then, her small nose wrinkled vigorously, sniffing the air carefully.
"Huh? How did desire power leak here inexplicably? No, that’s not it..."
She sniffed again, her expression showing a mix of realization and disdain, "...And Kana’s smell, ugh, no wonder!"
The truth revealed.
Bobo immediately guessed the reason for the earlier "rough treatment," and pouted disdainfully, hugging her front paws, and gave the empty office a big roll of her eyes.
"Hmph! Thirsty woman!"
She grumbled resentfully, the tip of her tail flicking irritably.
With a flourish of her mage robe sleeve, Bobo turned and strutted out again.
Before leaving, the breeze passed through, closing the door as it went.
