THE GOD EATER
Chapter 1175: I Hate You.
Everything looked fine to Loki until someone below sneered and said, "This sounds like a way to cheat us. What makes you think that we will bring our valuables to exchange for your worthless fake currency?"
In response, he produced ten Supreme Metacs and placed them on the golden mountain. They were one Cosmic Dao, two Grand Daos, three Major Daos, and Four Minor Daos."
After displaying his wares, he said with pride, "Is it worthless now?"
"If you’re not sure, get a Bronze Medal to test it. I assure you that I will make the exchange here and now."
"It is not bad, but it is not good enough," another Gemini said in complaint. "We have no reason to use the Olympic Medals when we can use Divine Crystals and Celestial Gold to exchange directly among ourselves."
A third Gemini said, "Right. Why should we use the Divine Court for exchanges when we can use the exchange system available to every Gemini?"
Then a fourth one added, "Plus our exchange system is trustworthy and cheaper. I don’t trust you, and your Supreme Metacs are too expensive."
"It isn’t even a matter of trust for me. I am sure that this exchange system will make you stronger, and I don’t want that. I don’t want you to become stronger before I can kill you one year from now," someone added rather rudely.
As another Gemini laughed, they said, "We can just kill you and get the Supreme Metacs directly. So to hell with your Olympic Medals."
"What if I offer lifespan as part of the goods available for purchase?" Loki asked.
But no one was buying it. Apparently, he didn’t have anything they wanted at all costs. When he asked them questions while he checked their minds, he realized why.
Apparently, every Gemini had access to an exchange system where they could get whatever they wanted as long as they had divine crystals and Celestial Gold.
He saw that they could buy things as mundane as mortals of various races with various levels of cultivation. The Gemini younglings had used this option to populate their worlds.
They could also buy life crystals that contained lifespan and spirit crystals that contained spirit energy. Then there were artifacts and various weapons.
After seeing the list of available options, he came to a conclusion: "I don’t have anything unique, so I definitely can’t compete with their exchange system in terms of variability."
’The only thing I have that they can’t buy through their exchange system is my Divine Spark. But I’m not selling it.’
’If their exchange system is so great, but they can’t buy a Divine Spark, then it would be foolish of me to sell it. There is also the fact that my life is tied to the Divine Spark, so I might die if I lose it.’
But he didn’t remain defeated by this for long. After a while, he said, "Since I can’t compete in quantity and quality, I should compete with price."
"It should work, but if it does, it seems I won’t be able to fleece anyone," he said with a sigh.
It hurt him to do so, but he went ahead and reduced the cost of Supreme Metacs. Then he made another announcement, saying, "One Diamond Medal is worth two Gold Medals, one Gold Medal is equal to two Silver Medals, and one Silver Medal can be exchanged for two Bronze Medals."
"So you can exchange two Minor Supreme Metacs for one Major Supreme Metac. Two Major Supreme Metacs for one Grand Supreme Metac, and two Grand Supreme Metacs for one Cosmic Metac."
The normal exchange rate in their exchange system was three for one. But he had reduced it to two low-quality for one high-quality.
This time, they became interested in what he had to offer. Many of them were still dissatisfied, though.
Someone was still saying, "I don’t want you to become stronger. So give up on this."
"This is cheap, which is good, but now I’m suspicious that your goods are fake. Nothing of high quality should be this cheap," another Gemini said suspiciously.
"The exchange rate is cheaper, but the cost of the lowest Bronze Medal is still too expensive. Do something about that, you ignorant aboriginal."
Loki’s eye twitched in annoyance at their complaints, but his mind was made up, so he said, "The value of the Bronze is still equal to a Minor Supreme Metac, but it is also worth only 100 Celestial Gold. Either Celestial Gold or Supreme Metacs can be used to exchange for the Olympic Medals."
The Gemini who was insisting that he give up earlier immediately said, "Now that’s what I’m talking about!"
"Alright, this is better," said the one who was complaining about how expensive the Bronze Medal was.
As for the one who was suspicious about the quality of his products, she was still saying, "This is too good to be true, so it is all but confirmed that there is a con at play here."
About two-thirds of them were now satisfied with the Olympic Medals, but there were still the die-hard haters who would rather die than admit that his offer was tempting.
All in all, the Olympic exchange system was accepted and took off after some initial resistance. After some bought the medals and used them to purchase the Supreme Metacs, confirming the exchange system was real and that no trickery was involved, even his haters began to waver.
Loki was finally able to sigh in relief and say, "It worked. But now I know why corporations like monopolies."
He had used his Supreme Metacs to get his way with Dao Lords before. It worked well because they had no choice but to trade with him. But the Gemini were not so easy to bend to his Will. They were snotty, bratty, dirty-talking, disrespectful, and spoilt people who had options and didn’t hesitate to insult what he was offering them, making sure to let him know that it was beneath them.
