THE GOD EATER
Chapter 1349: Two-Headed Offer.
The truth was that he didn’t trust those two at all. If it were before, when the copy of his mind within Fenrir listened to only him, he could rest assured that the Loki up there would set everything aside to do his bidding.
But he wasn’t the only one in control of his godheads anymore. That Gemini Supreme Metac pretending to be him was now the one in control.
Black Loki had been able to resist its influence when he was there to block it. But now that he was gone, the Gemini Supreme Metac would no longer be restricted and would focu on executing the mission the Gemini race and its god king gave him.
Since the Gemini Supreme Metac didn’t know he existed, it had no reason to try to rescue him. The only reason it would do what he asked for and go back to the past would be to recover the Divine Spark for itself.
Ideally, the allure of power should motivate the Gemini Loki to return to the past, but he didn’t know if that was reliable enough. So even though he said everything was fine, he didn’t fully believe it.
He trusted hell to freeze over than than he trusted his clones to prioritize saving him. The worst part is that he didn’t want them to return to the past just to save him, because that would mean they knew he existed.
He really was in a pickle. It was like being between a rock and a very hard place.
His confidence in the Gemini Loki was so low that he decided not to wait around until it was too late. He began disabling the cubes in the 4-D prototype to reduce its power and energy cost.
At first, he disabled only the outermost cube, the 38th cube. But then he disabled three more cubes in quick succession.
"Just one more," he said as he disabled the 34th cube.
"It is only temporary anyway," he said, disabling more cubes.
A Dao Lord who dared to disable their godheads like this would lose that godhead for good. But this was the spark of power where he had the utmost control and could do nearly anything with his Supreme Metacs, so he could get away with it.
The only price he had to pay was weakening himself. It was a price he was willing to pay to live longer.
As long as one cube remained alive and burning, he would remain alive. So he didn’t hesitate to reduce the 4-D prototype to just three active cubes. He left an extra one for backup in case of accidents. Then he left an extra one as backup to the backup.
When he was done, he said, "That’s good. Now I’m only producing 18 units of divinity."
With 18 units of divinity, he would consume 1.99 units of divine crystals every year. So with a supply of 91,000 units of divine crystal, he could survive 45,959.6 years.
He nodded in satisfaction and said, "With this much time, I should be able to survive. As long as those two aren’t killed, 45 thousand years should be more than enough time for time to go back to the past at least once."
"It seems you’ve been mired in some trouble," someone said to him.
When he looked toward the voice, he saw a two-headed cyclops staring at him.
Loki snorted and said, "What is it to you?"
"What if I told you that I could save you?" Astra asked.
Hearing this, Loki rolled his eyes as he said, "Let me guess. All I have to do is give up the spark of power."
Astra sensed the sarcasm in his voice, but he still went ahead, saying, "Yes. Give me control of the spark of power, and my true body will be able to use it to pull you back to reality."
"There is one slight problem with your plan. How will this save my life if I have to die to give you control of the spark of power?" Loki asked with a sneer.
"You won’t die permanently," Astra assured. "My true body should be able to resurrect or create a version of you. So you will still live on one way or another."
"So let me get this. This version of myself will surely die. Only someone who thinks they are me and has my memories will survive. Is that right?" Loki asked.
"Exactly. And I know how bad it sounds. But it is better than dying forever in this darkness," Astra said, trying to convince him that it was a good idea.
But Loki didn’t think about his offer before saying, "I would rather die than willingly give up the spark of power."
He said that because he didn’t care about someone else living on as him. To him, the choices were being killed by Astra or dying because he ran out of energy.
Both options would lead to his death. So instead of giving up and letting Astra kill him, he would rather fight for the chance of survival.
"Even if I won’t die if I give the spark of power to you, I still won’t give it up. I would rather die than give up this chance at greatness."
"If someone is as powerful as you, and you want the spark of power, then I would be foolish to give it up for anything. Besides, without the spark of power, I will be mince meat to the enemies out there waiting to kill me."
Astra tries to persuade him again, saying, "Not exactly. With your origin talent, you would still be fearsome."
"You just have a series of bad luck in your current location. You have too many powerful enemies bullying you. I can clear out those enemies for you, so you will have the opportunity to shine even without the spark of power."
"Will I even have my origin talent when you ’resurrect’ me?" he asked skeptically.
