THE GOD EATER

Chapter 1361: Oscar-worthy Acting.

But if the eye had to pick one of these two absurd options, it would pick the latter. It would rather believe a strong third party it couldn’t see was involved than accept that Loki was stronger than it, because Loki was clearly a Gemini and no god could be converted into a Gemini and held captive like this. In fact, he had reasons to believe that the third-party was the god king.

Meanwhile, Loki was making a Supreme Metac. He was very focused, as he had a lot counting on this. So he was dealt a heavy blow when his first attempt failed.

The Supreme Metac failed to form and collapsed at the 12th commonality. So he had only 3 steps left before it failed. Clearly, something was wrong with the Supreme Metac’s structure and image.

Black Loki got angry for a bit and frowned because of the failure. He even cursed, saying, "Damn it."

But no matter how angry he was, he had to accept the failure and try again.

Fortunately, he had leftover units of commonality from the raw materials. He had used 12, leaving 20, which could be reused.

He needed 15 units of commonality to make a Grand Metac. With 20 units, he didn’t have to start from the very top and had another chance to make the Supreme Metac before spending more lifespan.

Unfortunately, the second attempt also failed. The only difference was that he failed at the 15th commonality, so he had improved on the previous attempt. Apparently, his rules were wrong and needed more work before he could make the Devouring Supreme Metac.

"Damn it," he said, angry. "That’s 8 million years of lifespan gone down the drain."

Clearly, the loss of so much lifespan caused him a lot of pain. Even so, he refused to give up.

"This better work," he said as he activated Metac Creation Ability and the Divine Position Creation Ability.

He only needed five, but he created eight copies of each. That way, if his next attempt failed, he would have enough commonality for another attempt.

Of course, this level of insurance was expensive. Instead of using 5 million years of lifespan for five Divine Positions, he spent 8 million years for eight. But it was better than spending 5 million years twice in a row.

As luck would have it, he succeeded on his third try. The 15th commonality fell into place nicely, and the incomplete Supreme Metac didn’t collapse. This was clearly a good thing, but his heart ached painfully instead of jumping for joy.

Clutching his chest, black Loki said dramatically, "So much lifespan. So much..."

In the spark of power, Loki was cheering him on, thinking, ’Yes. Just like that. Sell it like your life depends on it.’

It was good that he finally made the Supreme Metac, but it meant that the rest of the commonality he had on hand would go to waste. All in all, he would have spent 16 million years of lifespan for one Grand Supreme Metac that should have cost 5 million years to make.

There was also the part where he had to solidify the incomplete Supreme Metac with lifespan. Since it was a Grand Dao, it would cost him another 4.9 million years of lifespan. Therefore, he would have spent 20.9 million years on this project.

20.9 million years of lifespan is a drop in the bucket compared to the tens of billions of lifespan he had to spend. But it was a lot of lifespan to the average Dao Lord. Since he was a new Dao Lord, it had to be worth even more.

To show he couldn’t casually produce 20.9 million years of lifespan without batting an eye, he put on an act to fool anyone watching. This was also why he didn’t use atoms, nuclei, or even protons and nucleons as his commonality, even though he could.

Then he fumbled around while making the Supreme Metac and only succeeded on his third attempt, as if he couldn’t do it with his eyes closed.

As for whether his performance would work, he didn’t know. He only knew that he had to try.

Black Loki gritted his teeth as if he was suffering unimaginable pain as he infused lifespan into the incomplete Supreme Metac. When enough lifespan merged with it and it came to life, he sighed in relief.

"Now, I can make a deal with the Will of the Blessed Heaven World," he said. "Hopefully, I can get something very good out of it."

As he said this, he initiated a conversation with the Will of the Blessed Heaven World through the divine constellation. Their conversation centered on the item he had just spent nearly 21 million years producing.

In the past, he would have done this by controlling Loki in the Devouring Supreme Metac, making him do his bidding like a puppet acting on the whims of a hidden puppeteer.

At that time, his only body was a white-furred humanoid wolf with the head and face of a wolf and a humanoid body. But now, the white Loki had become the imposter created with the Gemini Supreme Metac. It was a real case of identity theft, which he didn’t like.

He always used the mind within the Devouring Supreme Metac as a puppet to avoid exposing his plans to any Dao Lord nearby watching his thoughts.

He hoped to catch them off guard if they counted on the information gleaned from bus thoughts to deal with him. But now that he had a shameless resident peeper, he couldn’t make his clones do whatever he wanted when it was obvious they didn’t know why.

He couldn’t make Black Loki spend all that lifespan to create a Supreme Metac and initiate a deal with the Will of the Blessed Heaven World without knowing what he hoped to achieve. It would surely draw scrutiny from the three-pupiled eye and could lead to repercussions he couldn’t handle.

The eye in question had flown over from the corner rite usually hid in to hover beside the Devouring Supreme. Clearly, the eye was already suspicious.
