THE GOD EATER

Chapter 1369: The Mutual Enemy.

"Anyway, he is our enemy, so we shouldn’t praise him," Time Traveler said, chuckling.

But then he sighed and said, "However, I do pity the original Ragnarok. Any time I think about how someone as talented as him would get captured by the Gemini race and replaced, I fear for our fates."

"It is why we decided to work with Black Chain to resist the Gemini. Every indigenous Dao Lord like us decided to work together to avoid the fate of being replaced. Our mutual hatred of the Gemini brought us together."

"I guess what they say is true. If you want a group of people to work together, give them a mutual enemy," Wandering Thief said, cynically.

While Golden Sun chuckled at the cynical statement, Time Traveler said, "Anyway, all of that happened two timelines ago. As far as I know, there isn’t a timeline older than that."

"Then again, what do I know? The Ragnarok Gemini might have used the Rewind Metac earlier, and I didn’t notice."

"I do know that he had it and could have used it one timeline ago. But I used the Time Loop Supreme Metac before he could."

"However, I can’t guarantee that I can always reverse time before him and maintain the lead. So we have to get him this timeline at all costs," he said, clenching his fist.

"We can’t spook him, or he might use the Rewind Metac to escape. We have to lock down the Rewind Metac or his Supreme Metac. Then we will grind him into dust with a long beating."

"That sounds difficult," Golden Sun said, uncertain.

But Time Traveler’s eyes gleamed with confidence as he said, "As it turns out, I know the perfect person for the job."

Just then, they heard a commotion. The sound was so faint that anyone below Rank 8 wouldn’t notice it. But they noticed and instinctively became wary because of what it represented.

When they looked over, their suspicion was confirmed. They saw a pair of colorful eyes appear in the sky, far from their location. So it was clear that a Dao Lord was now paying attention to the affairs of the lower realm.

"Who is that? Is it Black Chain?" Golden Sun asked.

"I don’t know. Let me check it," Wandering Thief said.

As he spoke, the boundary between the lower realm and the upper realm was torn once more. Then another pair of colorful eyes appeared in the sky.

This second pair of eyes appeared late and left even later. It waited for the first pair of eyes to finish what it was doing and leave before following suit.

After the second pair of eyes left, Wandering Thief said, "I couldn’t tell who it was. I only saw them give a Supreme Metac to someone in the Blessed Heaven World."

"If I saw correctly, the recipient should be the Will of the Blessed Heaven World. I’m not sure if the Will is the final recipient or the middleman, but the fact that no Dao Lord has appeared to take the Supreme Metac into the upper realm suggests the former."

"Hmmm. This doesn’t sound right," Time Traveler said after hearing the details.

"According to the events of the two previous timelines, this shouldn’t happen. No one should be exchanging a Supreme Metac with anyone in the lower realm at this point."

"Then again, something abnormal happened last timeline too. Instead of waiting to be dethroned by Black Chain, Ragnarok approached us to establish a Domain on our world."

"It was strange because Ragnarok didn’t do something like that at all two timelines ago. Yet, he did it, and he did it very early too."

"What’s stranger is that Ragnarok hasn’t come to Thief Haven yet. Why hasn’t he come?" he asked, confused.

The more he spoke, the deeper his frown grew and the more solemn his disposition became. But the lower his voice became.

Over time, his voice grew so low they couldn’t hear what he was saying. They couldn’t even be sure he was still speaking to them. His Divine Spirit had entered a strange lull.

After a bout of silent contemplation, he said gravely, "I think I know what’s going on, and it isn’t good."

"Ragnarok might be able to remember the events of previous timelines. But I think it is more likely that someone more powerful in the Gemini race remembers what we did and is supplying Loki with information to help him."

Sighing, he added, "I knew that they destroyed the ancient cultivators, and I already rated them at the limit of my cognition of power. But it seems I still underestimated them."

"That doesn’t sound good at all. If true, it means we’ve lost our greatest advantage," Wandering Thief said with a heavy heart. "What do we do now?"

In response, Time Traveler exhaled as if to relieve some tension. He didn’t exhale because he didn’t have lungs, but the action eased his tension somewhat.

After getting his thoughts in order, he replied, "I need to get in touch with the Dao Lords of the Blessed Heaven World. I need to ask them what happened earlier. If my guess is correct, that Dao Lord will be Ragnarok."

"Regardless of who that Dao Lord was, I also have to convince every indigenous Dao Lord to work with us. We need to work together and combine our strength."

"That’s the only way we can resist the Gemini. If they can defeat the ancient cultivators, we can’t survive by fighting alone."

"And how are you going to get them to work together? Are you going to appeal to them using the threat of the Gemini?" Golden Sun stated the obvious.

"It could work. I mean, if it worked before, it should work again."

Hearing this, Time Traveler smiled for the first time since the conversation began and answered, "This part won’t be a problem, actually. Everyone told me what to do and say to convince them to work together two timelines ago."
