THE GOD EATER
Chapter 1368: Classic Black Chain.
Shaking his head, Time Traveler said, "I also told him to wait one year for their protection to end. Then we would kill them en masse after strengthening ourselves with their worlds. But he refused to listen to me."
"He said that ordinary Dao Lords were already difficult to kill permanently, but the Gemini were too difficult to kill when they mature, making them more difficult to deal with."
"So he preferred to weaken the Gemini as soon as possible before they become a threat. It was pure chaos."
"That’s classic Black Chain for you. He always preferred preemptive suppression and attacks whenever he encountered something threatening," Wandering Thief said, nodding his head in understanding.
"He did the same thing with us. Even though we were younger and weaker than him, he still decided to go to war to eliminate us as competitors. So I’m not surprised he picked the option to go to war as soon as possible."
"Speaking of which, we made a bet about this. You said he wouldn’t listen to me, and you were right. So I have to tell you of your victory every time I reverse time," Time Traveler said, chuckling.
"Is that so? I guess that makes me a tactical genius," Wandering Thief said proudly.
But Golden Sun asked, "Is that all the bet was about. I have a feeling that Wandering Thief would have asked for more."
Time Traveler ignored the question. He pretended not to hear and said, "Back to the war."
"At first, Black Chain had the support of some Gemini younglings. They gave him an artifact to use to destroy their rivals. But then this Gemini who calls himself the inevitable Ragnarok appeared."
His voice was solemn as he said, "Inevitable Ragnarok was the one who established the Divine Mountain that Black Chain stole from him."
"He wasn’t strong on his own, but he managed to get every Gemini working together against us. So everyone turned against Black Chain, working together like a seamless war machine."
"The worst part was this artifact he used to destroy every super world with Black Chain’s Domain on it. That move essentially crippled Black Chain, and his defeat was near."
"In just one month, Black Chain was brought low. Since Black Chain had also established a Domain on Thief’s Haven, our Domains were also slated for destruction. So I reversed time to prevent it from happening."
As he spoke, he sent them images of what he’d experienced. They heard Ragnarok ask Black Chain to surrender.
Ragnarok said, "Give up your foolish ambition and return my Divine Mountain to me."
Ragnarok was standing in front of the golden mountain when he said that. Thousands of Gemini younglings surrounded him, shielding him with their bodies. So even though Black Chain was stronger, he couldn’t reach Ragnarok.
They also saw Black Chain say, "Over my dead body."
His face was contorted with rage, and he shouted in anger, saying, "You’re all vermin. Your goal is to kill me and replace me anyway. So what do I have to fear? Go ahead and do your worst."
In response to his defiance, Inevitable Ragnarok said, "As you wish."
Then he withdrew with his army. All of them marched in sync, moving like a wave of water, rather than a group of people.
They looked like one mind, working so well together. Their movements were so eerie that it chilled the brothers to the bone.
For a while, Black Chain and everyone thought the Gemini would attack them. Then they saw the Blessed Heaven World fracture and collapse under its weight.
Hundreds of billions of people died, and the Will of the World wailed in pain as it dissipated. Black Chain also roared in anger.
With that single move, Black Chain and the other four Dao Lords with Domains on the Blessed Heaven World were weakened. But that was just the start.
Alpha Peak, the second largest super world, was next. It followed the Blessed Heaven World’s footsteps, too. After that, Red Sky and Clear met their demise as well.
Thief Haven was the weakest super world, so they saved it for last. This let Time Traveler witness it all and reverse time before it was too late.
The images and sounds ended there. But even after it ended, the two brothers were left reeling as they tried to digest what they had experienced.
After a few seconds, Wandering Thief frowned and said, "I thought Ragnarok was one of us. He ascended in the Blessed Heaven World together with me. How did he become a Gemini so quickly?"
Time Traveler shrugged and said, "I guess he was killed early."
"I guess that they wanted to control the Divine Mountain he created as soon as possible, so they killed him off instead of letting him play around like us, as if he stood a chance against them."
"What a shame," Wandering Thief said, sighing. "I truly pity Ragnarok."
"He was cut down in his prime like that. To think he just became a Dao Lord and established a Divine Mountain only to be killed off and replaced by his son. I wouldn’t want that for me."
"Well, don’t pity him as a Gemini. He is incredibly ruthless," Time Traveler said seriously.
"Besides, he has the Rewind Metac. So I have a feeling that he got it from the target I tried to reincarnate with."
"Where did Ragnarok come from anyway?" Golden Sun asked.
"He seemed to have popped out of thin air, become a Dao Lord, and establish a Divine Mountain without effort. These are all things that we’ve failed to achieve for so long. He must be a genius."
Time Traveler nodded as he said, "He is indeed a genius. He even managed to upgrade a Supreme Metac of the Devouring Pathway into a Cosmic Dao, allowing it to use Divine Metacs of other pathways."
"I suppose he combined his Supreme Metac with the Rewind Metac and used it to gain hidden advantages, which is why it seems he popped out of nowhere."
