THE GOD EATER
Chapter 1378 Argument For Brute Force.
His method of using brute force worked because Entropy always followed Time Traveler into the past. So by reversing time repeatedly, he kept taking on more burden of Entropy until he reached his limit.
That’s also why he believed brute force could work against Ragnarok. But he couldn’t argue against Wandering Thief because he clearly hadn’t completely defeated the three brothers.
After so many years of effort and death, the three cosmic brothers were still alive. They may not be doing well, but they could still return to challenge him.
He was proud and confident in his strength, but he had to admit that a method fell short, even if only slightly, which is why he decided to use "sophisticated" methods to take Ragnarok down. So he kept his mouth shut now despite his immense displeasure.
However, even though he didn’t want to argue anymore, someone else wasn’t so easily convinced. Martial Will didn’t hesitate to say, "First of all, I’m not afraid of him, and I don’t want to pretend like I am."
"He is just a one-star celestial pipsqueak. I can crush him easily with one hand behind my back."
Before Wandering Thief could say anything, Martial Will interrupted him, saying, "I know what you will say. You will say that if we pressure him, he will activate the Rewind Metac. Then we will lose all of our information advantage."
"But if his Rewind Metac is so formidable, why hasn’t he used it yet to do exactly that? I’ll tell you why. It is because it is not easy to use."
"He will pay a steep price to use it, so he doesn’t dare to use it easily. So I maintain that if we stop being cowards or pretending to be cowards, and keep forcing him to reverse time, we will eventually destroy him."
Upon hearing this, Black Chain nodded slightly in agreement. But he had only recently made this argument in his head and lost, so he didn’t speak up to support Martial Will.
In response to his tirade, Tepid Scholar clapped slowly and said, "Well said. I’m honestly impressed that you were able to come up with a strategy that didn’t involve using brute force to defeat the enemy."
"Oh wait. You didn’t do that. My bad," he said, sarcastically and unapologetically.
"Jokes aside, you got something right, and it is that Loki can’t use the Rewind Metac easily. But aside from the burden of Entropy, there might be other reasons he doesn’t use it easily."
"I’m just spouting ideas right now, so don’t take what I say seriously. But consider this. What if, and I’m just putting this out there. But what if Loki didn’t reverse time already is that he isn’t afraid of us."
"Yes, you’re right about Entropy. But even if there was no cost of Entropy, he might not think we’re worthy enough to warrant such caution."
"And I know that might be his pride making him underestimate us. But there is also a chance he has something other than his measly cultivation to rely on. For example, the source of the information about the previous timelines."
Shaking his head, he asked, "Have you even considered how he can remember events of lost timelines?"
"I’m not asking only Mr. Brute Force over there. I’m also asking all of you," he said, looking at all of them.
"Have you considered where and how he got his information advantage? We have Time Traveler, but who or what does he have?"
"If it is a who, surely someone who can remember events of a previous timeline isn’t someone we can take on. If you doubt me, just think about how the ancient cultivators no longer exist."
"So if the goal is to eliminate Ragnarok, we must strike once and kill him before the Gemini race can interfere. If not, then we’re only wasting our time here."
After he finished speaking, the atmosphere grew silent and solemn. The ten Dao Lords felt a heavy weight drop on their chests, making them doubt themselves.
They knew that Ragnarok was a Gemini. They also knew that the Gemini race was responsible for the demise of the ancient civilization. Lastly, they didn’t think they could defeat the Gemini race, which shook their resolve.
Fighting such a behemoth looked like a futile endeavor, making them rethink their options. But their uncertainty didn’t last long, because they had no other viable choice.
Their state of self-doubt was incredibly short-lived because the alternative was death and being replaced by their children. Since they didn’t want that, they decided that they had to resist.
The first step in their plan to resist was to take Ragnarok’s Divine Mountain and keep it under their control as indigenous Dao Lords. To do that, they had to permanently kill Ragnarok.
Even if they didn’t want the Olympic Divine Court, they still had to kill him to prevent someone on the side of their enemies from invalidating their efforts.
It is a matter of principle and logic. If Ragnarok remains, then all of their effort in a timeline would be for naught. So, however they looked at the situation and considered their options, Ragnarok must die.
Heavenly Eye was the one to break the silence. She said, "I think Tepid Scholar is right."
"We need to take Ragnarok out with one strike because he can be saved. But also because he might have something important he wants to accomplish in this timeline that’s delaying him and makes the risk from us worth it."
When she remembered her recent conversation with Loki, she became more convinced of her suspicion, so her voice grew firm as she said, "We’re cultivators, and we do everything for benefits."
"If Ragnarok has not reversed time already, it is either expensive and doesn’t think we’re worth the price, he looks down on us and doesn’t think we can kill him, or there is something beneficial preventing him from reversing time."
"It could also be all of the above. Who knows? I don’t know."
