THE GOD EATER

Chapter 771: Sudden Good Luck.

Many Eyes also didn’t worry about the possibility that the thief had been scared away by something else. Instead, his eyes shone as he said, "If this thief is scared of Money Armor despite having just gained a lot of world essence, then he must be weaker than Money Armor."

But Star Divination shook her head and said, "He could also know that this world belonged to the Thorn House of Commerce and was afraid of the Thorn House of Commerce, which is why he chose to leave."

Monarch Many Eyes nodded in agreement before saying, "Either way, the fact remains that he was scared away. I am also scared of the Thorn House of Commerce, so I am on equal level to the thief. In that case, I might be able to take down the thief."

Then he clenched his fist and said with cold eyes, "Let’s find that thief and beat him up."

Star Divination looked around as she said, "Since this world belongs to the Thorn House of Commerce, I think it is safe to say that the thief won’t be returning here."

Then she chuckled and said, "Not unless he went to bring reinforcement. Then we will have a lot more than the theft of some worlds on our hands. We will have a war of pathways and alliances, and we will be caught in the middle of it."

As she spoke, she became more amused with what she was saying. So by the time she was done talking, she was already laughing.

Her laughter was a piercing laughter that was grating on the ears. At least, the two of them didn’t find her laughter pleasant to hear.

They also didn’t think that the possibility of getting caught up in the fight between two pathways was something funny. So instead of laughing with her, they stared at her like she was a freak.

This made her cough again and say, "Anyway, since the thief is unlikely to return here, any plans to ambush the thief here are unlikely to work. So it should be a good idea to go looking for the thief. I am willing to bet that their next destination is a world that they want to steal."

Monarch Many Eyes nodded before saying to Monarch Eye Tracker, "Please, lead the way."

So he did.

His eyes saw traces of energy and even force that Loki left at the scene. These traces were linked together to form a trail, and the trail leads all the way to the source of the traces. So by following the trail, he will find the source.

On the other side, Slav was bewildered. His aged, cloudy eyes became even more unfocused as he asked himself, thinking, ’What is going on?’

Just a while ago, his chances of death were a whopping 99%. He only had a 1% chance of survival, and the best method that he had to survive could only increase his chances of survival to 3%.

With these kinds of numbers, he was sure that he was going to die. Nothing anyone could say, including his father and brother, could convince him otherwise.

Right now, they have reached the underground caves. He was in a wheelchair, being pushed forward by his brother Simon. His father and their slaves were there to accompany them.

Both his father, Skarg, and his brother were optimistic about the outcome of this venture. They were hopeful that whatever they found in this inheritance would save Slav. Only Slav, himself, knew that he was doomed.

He had just solved the puzzle at the entrance of the Cave Heaven. So they were now pushing him deeper into the underground passages.

Skarg said excitedly, "We are almost there. I can feel it. You will be saved soon."

Slav didn’t take his words to heart at all. He was being his usual pessimistic self when he sensed his chances of survival suddenly jumped from 1% to 50%.

What’s most absurd is that his chances of surviving the day would be higher if he weren’t so old. Because of his advanced age, a slight cold could be the end of him. So it was his age that was preventing him from having a chance of surviving the day above 50%, not anyone else or the strange disease that made him age so rapidly in the first place.

This was undoubtedly a good thing. But it felt difficult to accept for a while because it had come all of a sudden.

As he tried to make sense of the unexpected good luck, he thought to himself, ’Maybe there is actually something special about this underground cave that is capable of curing my disease. Or maybe the cure for my illness was in that puzzle I just solved.’

’Anyway, this is a good thing. Now all I need to do is acquire power to increase my chances of survival.’

There was the possibility that the purpose of the disease that made him age unnaturally wasn’t actually to kill him, but to encourage him to come here to this underground cave seeking salvation. That way, he would be at the whim of whoever set up the inheritance in this place.

But he didn’t want to think about that possibility because there was nothing he could do if it were true. Between the option of dying and living, he would always choose to live. So he would rather think about the positives of the situation.

By being positive, he had to admit that the turn of events was good. This brought a smile to his lips.

As he smiled, he said to Skarg, "You know what, Father, I think you’re right."

Skarg nodded and said proudly, "Of course, I’m right. You sensed that coming on this trip would help you, so it will definitely help you. That’s how the Luck Pathway works."

Simon also added, saying, "The inheritance here might even be profound enough to help our family produce a rank 5 cultivator."
