THE GOD EATER

Chapter 780: The Hook And Fish.

A hook, to Monarch Star Divination, is a determining feature or a set of parameters that will set apart the target object from the world around it. Once she has the hook, she can use it to pull up information about the target into her eyes, the way a fisherman pulls up fish from a water body.

In this case, the hook is a powerful and fast entity, fast approaching their position from the north. There is only one object that meets this criterion in the area, so her eyes were able to lock on to it. All that was left was to pull up information about the target from the ocean of information around them.

But just as she was about to reel in the information she wanted, the fish buckled and resisted. This was because the owner of the information had held on to their information and refused to let it go.

So the information she wanted remained within the ocean of information. This meant that her eyes remained blank even though she was expending a lot of her lifespan to pull the information into her eyes.

But even though she couldn’t see anything, her inability to see something was enough for her to deduce two crucial pieces of information. Those pieces of crucial information soon came spilling out of her lips unbidden.

Her eyes widened, and the look of complacency left her face as she said, "You’re right. There is someone strong and fast coming near us."

The fact that the hook had worked and caught something was enough to prove that Many Eyes had really seen something. But there was still something else, perhaps more important than this.

This more important piece of information was why she was running, as she said, "Run now!"

She didn’t need to see who was coming for her to know that she couldn’t defeat them if she met them. The fact that she couldn’t pull up the information she wanted to see about the target only served to prove this point.

She still doesn’t know why this person was approaching them or if they are truly her enemy. But she knows that it is likely that this person would be pissed for spying on them, and she knows that if this person becomes angry enough to try to take out their anger on her, she wouldn’t be able to stop them.

For the first time since they started tracking the thief, the three of them activated their Divine Metacs to mobilize their stats to speed up. The boost to their speed was not full since their Divine Metacs wasn’t for moving or increasing their speed, but their stats did improve their speed somewhat.

Unfortunately for them, this was not enough. Especially not when the person approaching them had Divine Metacs for improving the power of their body and their speed.

The person entered their field of vision, so they were finally able to see who the person was. What they saw was a man with a body made out of pure gold.

Star Divination still couldn’t tell the identity of this person despite seeing them completely. This was because this person was still stronger than her.

Just like the distance between her and the target couldn’t stop her from seeing the target, proximity also couldn’t help her see more of the target.

Eye Tracker also couldn’t tell the identity of this person. But Eye Tracker could tell something more important.

When Eye Tracker saw them, he said, "Thief."

Monarch Many Eyes almost fell over when he heard what Eye Tracker said. His voice was full of disbelief as he said, "That’s the person I was tracking? It looks like I’m screwed this time."

Loki was equally surprised when he ran into them. He didn’t expect to see anyone, and he definitely didn’t expect to see the seer he always bought small worlds from.

When he confirmed that the seer was the same one he bought five small worlds from, he burst out laughing.

As he laughed, he said, "Long time no see. I am honored to finally meet you face to face."

He didn’t go for the seer, though. Instead, he pivoted in another direction and went for the strongest of the four of them.

As he swiveled, he said to the seer, "Don’t worry. We will catch up later."

He made sure to drop a mark on the three seers. That way, he wouldn’t lose them after dealing with the strongest one.

The direction he went was one that none of the three seers had run to. So he was running into an empty void. This made Many Eyes relax.

Many Eyes sighed in relief as he said to Star Divination, "It seems your Environmental Illusion Divine Metac worked on him."

But Star Divination said back in confusion, "What illusion? I didn’t do anything to him."

She was confused by his claim that she had robbed him of his vision or tampered with what he was seeing. But Many Eyes was more confused when she claimed that she didn’t do anything to him.

So Many Eyes asked in confusion, "Then, where is he going?"

They got their answer when Loki smashed into something. Then Loki began to fight with that thing.

They couldn’t see what Loki was fighting. But it was clear that Loki was fighting something or someone. It was either that or all of them had been caught in an illusion.

When Star Divination saw this, she used her eyes to search for something hidden and powerful nearby. This didn’t work, and she came up with nothing. So she searched for someone hidden and powerful nearby.

This second option still didn’t work. This was because, for some reason, there were many powerful people around her who were hidden.

This outcome made her feel a chill trail down her spine. Especially when she remembered the words of a certain seer who claimed that Dao Lords were all around them before that seer went mad.
