Chapter 804: Shut Your Mouth.
After securing the remaining 11 Divine Metacs, he clicked his tongue in amusement and said, "What a troublesome fellow. All it knows is eating."
Then he said, "I have 43 Divine Metacs now. I also have the heart of 25 worlds, one of which belongs to a large world.’
’With this much, I should be able to create the fourth layer of force. If it isn’t enough, I will go after that Monarch Truth and False. His alliance should have a lot of resources to help me with it.’
But after smiling, his smile faltered a little bit as he said, "It is a shame that I won’t be able to take all of this for myself. I guess I will have to wait for when I am not a member of any sect before I can come back to assimilate the whole thing."
As he spoke, he summoned his Cave Heaven and let it overlap with Monarch Shadow Clone’s Cave Heaven. This initiated the fusion of the two Cave Heavens.
Since only one of the Cave Heavens was active and had a living divine being, the other one could only be assimilated in this fusion. Monarch Shadow Clone’s Cave Heaven was the inactive one, so it was the one being assimilated, even though it was bigger than Loki’s Cave Heaven.
While this was going on, news had spread of the death of the members of the Shadow Alliance. This news couldn’t be hidden since 10 Divine Positions in the section of the divine constellation belonging to the Nexus of Truth Sect had suddenly gone dark.
There was no way the sudden disappearance of ten Divine Positions could be ignored. Especially not when three Divine Positions had only gone dark a week ago.
The sudden death of the members of the Shadow Alliance caused quite an uproar in the community of divine beings. The impact of those deaths was especially heavy since one of them was Monarch Shadow Clone, who was a force to be reckoned with.
Everyone who noticed the loss of 13 Divine Positions or heard about it wanted to know how it happened. These people began asking questions and investigating everything that had happened to the Nexus of Truth Sect lately.
For a time, the divine constellation was buzzing with people investigating the death of so many divine beings. Unfortunately for them, those people hadn’t died in the Blessed Heaven World, so there was no record of their deaths in the divine constellation.
As for the people who knew that Monarch Shadow Clone had fallen into someone’s hands, they refused to say anything about what they knew.
Many Eyes refused to say anything because he was afraid for his life. He was scared of the thief and didn’t want to be punished for opening his mouth and saying what he shouldn’t have said. So he kept mum about the whole matter.
Even if he wanted to talk, Many Eyes couldn’t do so because an instruction had come from the sect that no one was to talk about the matter. In fact, the sect sent a message directly to him about the matter.
The message said, "We are aware that you know why Shadow Clone and the other seven members of her alliance disappeared. It would do you a lot of good to keep this information to yourself. But if you don’t know what’s good for you, here is a warning to incentivise you."
"If you speak of what you know, your Divine Positions will be taken, your Divine Metacs will be confiscated, your Life Fire put out, and your soul set aflame for an eternity. You will be damned to eternal pain that will make you wish you were dead, so I hope for your sake that you do not try me."
This message spooked him down to the core of his being. He didn’t have sweat glands, but he wished he had them so he could sweat away some of the heat he was feeling when he read that message. This was because the message felt more personal than usual.
In the past, messages from the sect were always detached. The messages felt like they were sent from a machine or something that didn’t have emotions. But this time, there was a tone in the message that indicated that whoever wrote the message was angry with him.
Of course, the warning in the message was something he had to take seriously. But he didn’t need the warning to keep quiet about the matter. So he didn’t care much about the warning. What he cared about was the fact that the sect was asking him to keep his mouth shut.
This made him say, "It seems the sect is taking this matter seriously? Why, though? What could be so serious that they have to take it seriously?"
"Isn’t it just some divine beings dying? Divine beings die all the time, so what’s special about this one?"
Then he scratched his head and said, "Or could this be about the thief? Is there something special about him that the sect is taking seriously?"
He couldn’t figure out why he and everyone in the sect were ordered to shut up about the death of 8 divine beings, including a rank 8 cultivator. But things got more serious because the sect actually called for a meeting of the elders.
The meeting of sect elders is a serious matter that usually happens when the Dao Lord has a message for every divine being or when the sect wants the divine beings to vote on a matter that concerns the sect as a whole.
So now that a meeting of sect elders was called, Many Eyes realized that he might have underestimated the seriousness of the matter. His heart became heavy, but he also became hopeful that he would get to find out what was so important about the death of the Shadow Alliance from the meeting.
While Many Eyes felt that he was being specifically singled out by the sect, he was actually having it easy. Monarch Truth and False were having a much tougher time because of the death of 8 divine beings.
