Chapter 805: Unjust Punishment.
The message the sect sent to Monarch Truth and False said, "Go to the nearest sect grounds and collect the refinement recipe of the 13 Divine Metacs. Refine them and return them to the sect. The sect will distribute them as it sees fit."
The messaged continued, saying, "For the part you played in all of these, you are to pay for the recipes with your divine merit points. You have one day to do this. If you haven’t refined the 13 Divine Metacs by the end of 24 hours, you will be heavily punished."
"Your Divine Positions will be taken, your Divine Metacs will be confiscated, your Life Fire put out, and your soul set aflame for an eternity. You will be damned to eternal pain that will make you wish you were dead if you do not do as you’re told. The same will happen if you speak of what you know about their deaths to anyone."
This message caused a spark of anger to flare up within him. In his anger, he thought to himself, ’What do you mean, ’for the part I played in this’? What part did I play?’
’I nearly died, is the part I played. So is this punishment for not dying? Instead of helping me to get stronger, you are punishing me for surviving? What a shitty sect!’
He was so angry that he wished he could destroy the sect, but he only dared to think about it. He didn’t dare to do it.
In fact, he could only complain inwardly. He didn’t dare to voice out his complaints even within his Cave Heaven for fear that he would be overheard. So if he couldn’t dare to speak his grievances, he for sure wouldn’t dare to destroy sect property in a fit of anger.
After complaining and grumbling, he calmed down a bit. But he was still sore about the matter, so he thought to himself in derision, ’I am to spend over ten thousand divine merit points on Divine Metacs that I can’t use. I guess this is a good thing. After all, there is nothing else for me to spend my divine merit points on.’
’I’ve been working hard for the sect for thousands of years and earning payment in divine merit points with nothing to spend the divine merit points on. What else am I to do with my merit points if not to use them to buy something from the sect for a mission the sect gave me as punishment?’
His inner voice was completely sarcastic as these thoughts went through his mind. He was hoping that he would amuse himself with these thoughts and let go of his anger, but they only made him angrier.
Truth be said, there are actually a lot of things that he could spend his divine merit points on in the sect. It is just that none of the available products and services will help him grow stronger. This is why he considers them to be useless.
Since he refused to spend his hard-earned divine merit points on useless things, they have been piling up like a small mountain of wealth. If one day he were to die, the mountain of wealth would help him quickly recover his strength.
The possibility that he would ever need the divine merit points to recover his strength was abysmal since there was virtually no cultivator who could kill him in any of the eight sects. But it was still an insurance that he could count on.
However, he can forget about that insurance now because it seems the sect has other plans for his little mountain of wealth. It seems that since he refused to spend the divine merit points, the sect has decided to help him spend them.
The worst part of all of these is not that he has to spend his divine merit points on something he considers worse than useless and won’t help in any way. The worst part is that he has no choice in the matter. Not unless he wants to be damed to eternal suffering.
So when he thought about the ultimatum he was given, he could only get angrier, not calmer. But no matter how angry he became, he could only keep his anger within his chest and not show it.
If he were a rank 8 cultivator with three Divine Positions, he might have considered showing his displeasure. But ever since he acquired that fourth Divine Position, the sect has begun to watch him closely.
He is sure of that because it was at that point that he began receiving sect messages from the spirit of the sect. With the spirit of the sect watching him, he didn’t dare to mouth off about how he was being cheated.
He could only roar in his heart, saying, ’I am a slave. I am just a slave to you.’
He kept shouting along this line for a long while. He did so until he calmed down a little bit. Then he reread the message to make sure that he wasn’t missing anything.
After he reread the message, he said, "What’s the rush, though? Why not let Shadow Clone reincarnate before rushing to find replacements for the Divine Metacs?"
He definitely didn’t want to spend his resources and time refining the Divine Metacs. If his opinion were asked, he would suggest that they wait for the Monarch Shadow Clone to reincarnate. Then they should allow her to find new divine beings for the other Divine Metacs.
Not that this suggestion would be out of place, since it is the normal thing that should be done in that case. But for some reason, the sect has decided not to go the normal route. They want him to expedite the replacement of the divine beings at his own cost.
When he thought about this, he frowned and said to himself, ’Could this be related to why the sect is the only one willing to help rank 5 cultivators advance to rank 6?"
