Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Jun Yue

"Who are you talking about?"

"I remember after the orphanage was bought, weren’t they supposed to build a housing complex?"

"I’m not sure. I think something happened back then that stopped the development."

"Later, someone pulled some strings to make sure it was preserved until now."

"And that’s how I was able to buy it back and renovate it."

"Now, this orphanage belongs completely and totally to us."

"No one will ever be able to take it away from us again."

Jiang Fan nodded slightly. Only a child who grew up in the orphanage could understand what a nightmare they had been through back then.

Even now, Jiang Fan was reluctant to talk about it.

And that was when Grandma Director had lost her husband.

Their most beloved Grandpa Director.

So he understood the weight this orphanage carried and the place it held in Li Qian’Er’s heart.

"It was Jun."

"Jun was the one who pulled the strings so I could buy it at the lowest possible price."

"Jun?"

Jiang Fan looked at Grandma Director, his face full of confusion.

"Jiang, you big scumbag! You said you were going to marry Jun back then."

"Jun has been waiting for you. She hasn’t had a boyfriend all these years."

"It’s Jun Yue."

Grandma Director’s words suddenly unlocked a sealed memory in Jiang Fan’s mind.

Jun Yue. A girl who had grown up with him.

She had always protected him, always given in to him.

When he was little, his biggest dream was to marry this girl who was a few years older than him.

And every time he brought it up, the girl would pat his head, smile, and agree.

But then she left the orphanage. After Jiang Fan came of age, he also set out to make his own way. He was just scraping by at the lowest rungs of society, so the two of them lost contact.

"She... So, Grandma, can you tell me now? Why did she leave back then?"

Jun Yue’s departure had been sudden, catching everyone completely by surprise.

Grandma Director had always been reluctant to say much about it.

Every time Jiang Fan asked, she would just say that Jun Yue would come back.

"Her birth parents found her."

"They took her abroad. It seems she only came back recently."

"I never dared to tell you. I was worried you, you little rascal, wouldn’t be able to handle it."

"After all, you were already six or seven years old and still insisted on sleeping in the same bed with her."

"And you did that for four or five years."

Hearing this, Jiang Fan couldn’t help but scratch his head.

"Okay, okay, Grandma! You can stop there. Leave me a little dignity, please."

Jiang Fan’s face turned beet red with embarrassment.

Chatting and laughing, the group walked into the orphanage.

Gazing at the familiar surroundings, Jiang Fan felt a wave of nostalgia.

He crouched down and touched a high stone threshold.

"Sis, don’t be weirded out. Let me tell you, Jiang loved to sleep right here when he was a kid."

"That’s also where we grew up."

Li Qian’Er pointed to a small courtyard not far away.

Although the courtyard had been renovated, you could tell at a glance that much of the equipment inside was very old.

"What... what was he like as a kid? Was he naughty?"

Sun Yanzi couldn’t help but ask.

"Let me tell you, he was so naughty! Come, sit here."

The moment the topic came up, Li Qian’Er lit up, pulling Sun Yanzi to sit next to Grandma Director.

"Jiang was the youngest boy in our orphanage back then, but he acted just like a big brother."

"Whenever other kids bullied us, he’d be the first one to charge in."

"No matter who it was, even if it was an adult, he’d dare to pounce on them and take a huge bite out of them."

"’You can do whatever you want to me, but you can’t bully anyone from our orphanage.’"

"That was Jiang’s catchphrase back then."

"So, that Jun Yue you mentioned earlier...?"

"You mean Jun?"

"She was a role model for all us girls, and the smartest one in the orphanage."

"Every time someone bullied us, Jun would come up with the plan, and Jiang would be the one to carry it out."

"Most of the time, we’d send them running with their tails between their legs."

Thinking back on the old days, Li Qian’Er couldn’t help but smile.

Even Grandma Director’s eyes glinted with a flicker of memory.

"What about the times it didn’t work?"

"The times it didn’t work, we’d all run, and Jiang would stay behind to cover our retreat. One time, those bullies almost caught Jun, but Jiang drove them off."

"Jiang got beaten up pretty badly by them that time."

"I’d better not run into them again. Otherwise, I’ll beat the absolute shit out of them."

FLICK.

A crisp flick landed on Li Qian’Er’s forehead.

"Watch your mouth! You’re a young lady!"

"Grandma, I want to stay here tonight."

Jiang Fan said, sitting beside Grandma Director and taking her hand.

"Alright. You can sleep in your old room."

"Sis, you can sleep with me then," Li Qian’Er said suddenly.

"Ah, well..."

Sun Yanzi glanced at Jiang Fan, hesitating.

"Don’t worry, Sis. My room is very clean."

Li Qian’Er thought she was worried about something else.

"No, no, you misunderstand. I just feel like it might be too much trouble."

"You, little rascal, are actually willing to let someone sleep in your bed?"

Jiang Fan found it a bit strange.

After all, ever since they were kids, Li Qian’Er had never been willing to share her bed. If Jiang Fan so much as sat on it, she would chase him down to give him a beating.

"Sis smells nice. You stink. How can you two be the same?"

"Looks like you’re itching for a fight."

But Li Qian’Er just ignored him, hiding directly behind Grandma Director.

Jiang Fan ground his teeth in frustration, but there was nothing he could do about her.

Since it was still early, the group sat and talked about old times, while also discussing the issues with the children currently in the orphanage.

Before they knew it, more than an hour had passed.

At some point, Li Qian’Er had slipped out.

By the time Jiang Fan noticed and went to look for her, she was nowhere to be found.

"She said she was going out to pick someone up."

"Pick someone up?"

Jiang Fan was taken aback. In the distance, he saw Li Qian’Er walking over with someone.

It was only when they got a little closer that Jiang Fan could see clearly.

She wore a simple, light-colored long dress that accentuated her slender, well-proportioned figure. Her aura was noble and otherworldly. Her flawless face was as fair and translucent as jade, and her eyes were like autumn pools.

Her delicate nose and cherry lips seemed to have been exquisitely carved by the divine hands of creation.

Under the moonlight, she looked like a celestial fairy who had descended from the heavens.

"Jiang, look who I brought!!!"
