Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Amusement

"You know I’m not as smart as you. Since you’ve already brought it up, you must have a solution. Just tell me what it is."

Jiang Fan flopped onto a chair and said outright.

It was a habitual dependence that Jiang Fan himself probably hadn’t even noticed.

Ever since they were little, Jun Yue had always played the role of the strategist, and this time was no exception.

As long as she was around, Jiang Fan had a habit of not using his brain.

"What’s this about? Am I your servant now?"

Jun Yue sighed, then twisted Jiang Fan’s ear and demanded.

"No, no! Why are you always twisting my ear?!"

Jiang Fan immediately tried to struggle free.

"The things I tell you are just my ideas. When you figure it out for yourself, that’s when it truly becomes yours."

"I can’t be the one to come up with all your plans forever, can I?"

As soon as Jun Yue finished speaking, Jiang Fan pouted.

"Fine, I’ll think of it myself then."

"It’s just a matter of finding one angle and blowing it up. People love to get in on the action, snatch up a bargain, or just watch drama unfold from the sidelines."

The next moment, Jiang Fan suddenly sat up straight, his gaze growing razor-sharp.

Inspiration struck.

’That’s right! People don’t just love a good deal, they love to get in on the excitement—especially in Huaxia!’

’Wherever there’s a buzz, you’ll find a crowd!’

’Xuerong has started to make a name for itself, but it’s still not enough.’

’Especially in the Celestial Dragon District.’

’So, what if I could create a huge media event? Something that gets everyone involved and wanting to see what’s going on.’

"Looks like you’ve thought of something?"

Jun Yue asked, a little surprised.

"I’ve got the rough shape of an idea. Got a pen and paper? I need to borrow them."

With that, Jiang Fan lowered his head, lost in thought.

A satisfied smile spread across Jun Yue’s face. ’This is how it should be.’

’You have to rely on yourself for many things. Depending on others will never solve your problems.’

She brought him the pen and paper, then quietly slipped out of the conference room, telling all the employees that the room was off-limits for the rest of the day.

She left Jiang Fan alone in the quiet room.

With the rough shape of an idea in his mind, Jiang Fan wrote furiously, scribbling down every spark of inspiration that came to him.

It was a mess, but once organized, it would form a solid marketing plan.

Time dripped by. Not until just after six in the evening did Jiang Fan finally look up, as if waking from a trance.

The sun outside was nearly set, its last rays painting the sky in vast swathes of crimson.

"Holy crap, it’s almost dark already?"

He glanced over and saw that, without even realizing it, he had filled a dozen or so pages.

"Are you done?"

"I brought you some food. Hurry and eat. You haven’t eaten all day, have you?"

Just then, Jun Yue pushed open the conference room door, carrying two food containers.

Only then did Jiang Fan’s stomach start to rumble.

"I’m starving, I’m starving."

At the smell of food, Jiang Fan felt a ravenous hunger take over.

He took the containers from her and dug in.

Halfway through his meal, Jiang Fan suddenly looked up and froze.

"Crap! There’s someone else who hasn’t eaten."

He quickly put down his chopsticks, gathered his rough notes, and clutched them to his chest. "Jun, I’ll come see you next time. Something’s come up and I have to head back now."

"What’s the big rush? At least finish eating before you go."

Jun Yue was startled by Jiang Fan’s actions.

"It’s really urgent. Something bad might happen if I’m late."

Without further explanation, Jiang Fan rushed out of Yuefan, hailed a taxi, and headed straight home.

Just as he’d expected, when he took out his key and burst into the apartment, he found Sun Yanzi in the kitchen.

"Good heavens, come here!"

"Couldn’t you have just called me? Did you have to do it yourself?"

"If worse comes to worst, we could have just ordered takeout! That’s an option too!!"

Jiang Fan said, panting.

"Why are you back? I thought you were busy, so I didn’t call."

"I’m almost better now. I can handle making a little something. You go sit down. Dinner will be ready soon."

A sweet feeling bloomed in Sun Yanzi’s heart, and a faint blush colored her cheeks.

"Go on, go sit down. I’ll handle the rest."

Without taking no for an answer, Jiang Fan ushered Sun Yanzi out of the kitchen. Chicken and mushroom stew simmered in a clay pot on one burner, while red-braised pork ribs cooked in a pan on the other.

"You were out working hard all day. I wanted to make you something nourishing."

Sun Yanzi said quickly, meeting the sudden look Jiang Fan shot her way.

"I’m not the one who needs it. You’re the one who needs to wait a few more days before eating anything this heavy."

"Otherwise, it could cause a setback."

"After we eat, I’ll go to the supermarket to buy some vegetables."

Jiang Fan said as he plated the food.

In truth, Sun Yanzi had already done most of the work. All he had to do was thicken the sauces and plate the dishes.

He set the dishes on the table, then served her a small bowl of congee. After she finished that, he made her drink a bowl of the chicken soup as well.

By the time they cleaned up, it was nearly 8 PM.

He glanced at the time and headed out, his mind still preoccupied with the marketing plan.

Lost in thought, he turned down a narrow alleyway without noticing. He only snapped out of it when he realized how dim the lights had become and looked up.

"That’s him! Get him! I want both his arms and both his legs broken! Break them all!!"

A familiar, low voice barked the order. From a nearby patch of trees, four or five burly men charged out.

Each one was built like a tank, and without a word, their sandbag-sized fists rained down on Jiang Fan.

Jiang Fan was stunned for a second, but his reflexes were lightning-fast.

He didn’t just dodge the punches; with every move, he precisely caught a wrist and sent a sharp backhand slap across his attacker’s face.

In less than ten seconds, six burly men lay on the ground around him.

Every one of them was clutching their face and rolling on the ground.

Ignoring the men on the ground, Jiang Fan gazed into the depths of the trees.

Their eyes met. The person in the shadows turned tail and bolted.

But there was no way he could outrun Jiang Fan.

In a flash, Jiang Fan caught up and sent him flying with a single kick.

Jiang Fan flipped him over. Just as he’d suspected, it was Li Fengming.

Jiang Fan couldn’t help but laugh.

"Didn’t get enough of a beating earlier today? How did you even manage to find me here?"

"I’m warning you, you’d better not touch me! If you don’t, I can let what happened earlier slide!"

Fear flickered in the depths of Li Fengming’s eyes, his voice a transparent attempt to sound tough.

"Are you clear on the situation here? You’re the one who’s in my hands right now."

"Trying to bargain with me? And that’s the threat you come up with?"
