Chapter 150: Chapter 150: The Extraordinary Response to the Proposal

Jiang Fan stayed in his office until the afternoon. He only stopped when a stabbing pain pulsed in his temples, knowing he wouldn’t produce anything good if he kept writing.

’Time to get out of here and do some field research.’

He stood up, stretched, and walked out to the main office area. A single glance told him that many of the desks were empty.

"Huh? Where is everyone?"

Jiang Fan asked, dumbfounded.

"They were all sent out on assignment. Something seems to have happened."

A female employee paused her work and looked up to answer him.

"Oh, I see."

Jiang Fan nodded. For a moment, he thought spending the whole afternoon in his office had made him hallucinate.

The area, which was usually bustling with dozens of people, now had only a little over ten. Anyone would have been startled by the sight.

’But what could have happened to send so many people out at once? Not even the team leaders are here.’

Li Muwan wasn’t in her office either, which made him even more curious.

He turned, went downstairs, and got in his car, ready to leave the company and check out the six shopping malls in the Celestial Dragon District.

But when he got to the exit, the automatic gate arm simply wouldn’t lift.

’What the hell? Is it broken?’

Jiang Fan rolled down his window and yelled toward the security booth.

But after waiting for what felt like an eternity, no one came out.

"Hmm... What’s going on?"

Jiang Fan immediately got out of his car, opened the door to the security booth, and found Su Qingci and another female guard lounging inside, watching TV with complete nonchalance.

They didn’t even bother to glance up as he walked in.

"Didn’t you hear me calling just now?"

Jiang Fan was so choked with anger that his voice jumped several octaves.

"What are you yelling for? Can’t the gate have a bad connection? Just wait, maybe it’ll fix itself."

Su Qingci said nonchalantly.

"Shouldn’t you be handling this? How is anyone supposed to get out otherwise?"

Jiang Fan said with a frown.

"It’s still working hours. What are you doing leaving?"

Her accusatory tone left Jiang Fan speechless.

"I don’t want to waste my breath on you. Get someone to fix it right now. I have to go out on assignment."

Jiang Fan said, annoyed.

"Is that any way to ask for a favor?"

Su Qingci stood up, glaring at him without backing down an inch.

"You..."

Jiang Fan felt his anger deflate. There was really nothing he could do about Su Qingci.

If he was delayed any longer, it would be quitting time, let alone driving to the Celestial Dragon District to do his research.

"Oh, merciful goddess, please do me a favor and let me through. I really have something important to do."

With no other choice, Jiang Fan had to back down.

"Oh? Not so tough anymore?"

Su Qingci looked at him, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

"I was wrong, I was wrong, oh merciful goddess. Please, do me this favor."

Jiang Fan put his hands together and bowed, begging for mercy.

"This humble one was blind to your magnificence."

Seeing Jiang Fan’s groveling, Su Qingci was secretly delighted. She waved her hand magnanimously. "I’ll let you off this time. But if you cross me again, you can get ready to re-inflate your tires every single day."

As she spoke, Su Qingci pulled a remote control from her pocket. With a light press of a button, the gate arm slowly rose.

Jiang Fan rolled his eyes. ’She really went out of her way just to mess with me, even swapping the automatic system for a manual one.’

He yanked his car door open, slammed on the gas, and sped out. But he suddenly stopped right at the gate. "Su Qingci, you dumbass!! You psycho! You crazy bitch!!!"

Jiang Fan’s voice boomed like a great bell, and everyone downstairs turned to look, their eyes filled with curiosity.

Su Qingci herself was completely dumbfounded.

The triumphant expression on her face froze. She never, in her wildest dreams, thought Jiang Fan could be such a bastard...

"Jiang Fan!!!! You’re so dead!!!"

When Su Qingci finally snapped out of it, she was practically insane with rage and couldn’t help but roar.

But all she could do was watch Jiang Fan’s taillights disappear.

Jiang Fan wasn’t an idiot. Why would he stick around after yelling insults?

After letting out that burst of anger, he felt fantastic.

’As for tomorrow... I’ll worry about tomorrow when it comes!’

He drove to the first shopping mall in the Celestial Dragon District, parked his car, and went inside.

The vastness of the mall and its luxurious decor assaulted Jiang Fan’s senses.

The Celestial Dragon District truly lived up to its reputation as Yang City’s largest district; even its shopping malls were this impressive.

Jiang Fan looked this way and that.

He observed the layout of the entire mall, studying the locations of the stores.

After silently memorizing the details, Jiang Fan visited all six malls in a row, getting a clear picture of the store situations in each.

He had to admit, Li Muwan’s business instincts were truly formidable. Every location she had chosen could be considered a top-tier pick.

Very few other spots in the entire mall could compare.

But the better the locations were, the more pressure Jiang Fan felt.

Stores like these would normally never have to worry about sales volume, yet Li Muwan still wanted to hold a promotional event.

It was easy to imagine just how formidable their competitor was.

By the time he was done, it was already past seven. When he got home, Sun Yanzi had already finished cooking. The fragrant aroma of the hot meal made Jiang Fan’s stomach rumble.

"It smells delicious. Are you feeling better now? Oh, you don’t have to get my slippers, I can get them myself."

Jiang Fan took a step back. Sun Yanzi had actually brought him his slippers and was about to help him put them on.

’This is getting to be too much.’

"You’ve had a long day out. This is nothing."

A bright smile appeared on Sun Yanzi’s face, but she didn’t insist.

"Go wash your hands and eat."

"You got it."

Jiang Fan quickly washed his hands, and by the time he was done, Sun Yanzi had already served him a bowl of rice.

Jiang Fan wolfed down his food. Sun Yanzi’s cooking was truly impeccable.

"Were you busy at the company today? I saw in the group chat that everyone’s going crazy."

Sun Yanzi asked curiously, taking small bites of her food.

"I’m not sure, I was out doing field research this afternoon."

"But there were a lot fewer people. They were all out on assignment. Do you know why?"

Jiang Fan was also a little curious.

"I heard the Fengming Group is preparing a large-scale event that covers a lot of different aspects."

"They also hired an international print model with a huge fan base."

"And most importantly, the stores they’re planning to open are all in the same malls as ours. They’re clearly targeting us."

Sun Yanzi’s face was also full of worry. She really wanted to go back to work, but her health wouldn’t allow it right now.

"A print model?"

Jiang Fan’s expression became rather peculiar.

"Yeah, apparently she’s very famous internationally and has won many major awards."

Sun Yanzi was a little curious why he was making such a face.

"Is she the ’flat’ type?"

Jiang Fan asked, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.

"Flat?"

Sun Yanzi had no idea what he meant.

"You know, ’flat’!!!"
