Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Shopping

"Okay, okay!"

Even through the phone, Jiang Fan could hear the delight in Rong Anyao’s voice.

After quickly stuffing breakfast into his stomach, Jiang Fan went over the plan in his head.

He grabbed his car keys and headed out to pick up Rong Anyao.

It wasn’t the weekend, and morning rush hour was over, so they met up in less than twenty minutes.

Today, Rong Anyao was wearing a simple, pure-white sundress paired with plain white sneakers.

She was overflowing with a youthful aura, looking just like a female lead from a campus drama.

Jiang Fan’s eyes lit up as he looked at her.

"You look so beautiful today."

"What’s wrong, Jiang? Do you want me to look uglier? I can go back and change if you want."

Rong Anyao immediately wrapped her arms around Jiang Fan’s arm.

"No, of course girls should look beautiful. It’s just that you look particularly stunning today."

"This outfit really suits you,"

Jiang Fan commented.

"I think it suits me too. Yanzi helped me pick it out."

Jiang Fan’s expression froze, and he looked at her with some surprise.

"She picked it out for you?"

"Are you two that close now?"

"Of course! She’s your main wife, and I’m your little mistress. How could we not get along?"

Rong Anyao looked at him teasingly.

"Get out of here. Always messing around. Get in the car, let’s go."

Jiang Fan waved his hand dismissively, pulled his arm from her grasp, and opened the driver’s side door to get in.

Rong Anyao gave a playful smile, opened the passenger door, and got in as well.

"Let’s go! We’re off to Celestial Dragon District’s First Shopping Mall! It’s the biggest mall in the entire Celestial Dragon District."

"I’ve been dying to try the milk tea from that one shop. Before, they only had locations in other provinces, so you couldn’t get it here at all."

"I wonder what tactics the city used, or what kind of incentives they offered, to actually get them to open a branch here."

"Just because of this one shop, the number of tourists coming to Yang City has gone up."

Rong Anyao chattered on like a little sparrow, seeming exceptionally excited.

Jiang Fan chatted with her as he drove. "What milk tea? Is it really that good?"

"Chashe! It’s a super famous milk tea shop!"

"Jiang, have you never heard of it before?"

As Rong Anyao spoke, she pulled up a photo on her phone. "Look, this is from when I went on a trip with my classmates back in school. There were so many people drinking it."

"We waited in line for two or three hours just to get a cup."

Jiang Fan nodded, but he still didn’t understand.

’No matter how good something is, if I have to wait in line for two or three hours... I’d have to politely decline.’

"I’ve never heard of it. Back when you were in school, I was probably still working as a food delivery driver."

"Back then, even affording a meal was a problem. I didn’t have the time to think about things like this."

The two of them chatted like that as they drove, and before long, they arrived at the First Shopping Mall.

Perhaps because many new stores were opening at the same time, the mall was packed with people, even on a weekday. It was bustling with activity and very lively.

Just after he parked the car and they got out, Rong Anyao latched onto Jiang Fan’s arm, her face a picture of pure happiness and bliss.

"Behave yourself. Walk on your own."

Jiang Fan tried to pull his arm free a couple of times but couldn’t.

"I don’t care, I want to hold onto Jiang’s arm."

Rong Anyao paid him no mind. Left with no other choice, Jiang Fan just let her cling to him.

The First Shopping Mall was indeed massive. It took at least forty minutes just to walk from the east entrance to the south entrance.

And that was just on one floor; the mall had seven floors in total.

It wasn’t like other malls where each floor sold more or less the same type of thing—for instance, clothes on the first floor, shoes on the second, and food on the third.

Here, everything was randomly mixed together.

The only rule seemed to be that high-end brand stores wouldn’t be located next to food stalls with strong, greasy smells.

But having one or two milk tea or cake shops nearby was still very normal.

This made shopping here less boring.

Throughout their walk, Rong Anyao’s mouth never stopped moving as she ate one thing after another.

The most impressive part was that while eating, her eyes were also scanning the surrounding shops on a massive scale, looking for anything else that caught her eye.

After more than an hour, Jiang Fan was utterly stunned.

Rong Anyao had eaten three small cakes, a cup of milk tea, and four skewers of fried snacks... and most importantly, her stomach wasn’t the least bit bloated.

She looked just like a starving ghost who had been reincarnated.

"Hey now, don’t stuff yourself sick. We have plenty of time."

"I haven’t been out to eat in so long, and everything here is so delicious!"

"But why haven’t I seen Chashe yet?"

"It’s been so long already."

Hearing this, Jiang Fan rolled his eyes.

"Isn’t it right there?"

Jiang Fan said, pointing to the third floor above them.

Rong Anyao looked up and saw a long line on the third floor that seemed to have no end.

"Oh my god, why are there so many people?"

"How long will we have to wait? If I’d known, I would have gotten in line first before eating all this other stuff."

Her little face scrunched up like a bitter melon.

"Is this milk tea expensive?"

Jiang Fan asked casually.

"It’s not expensive, no, but it’s really, really good."

"Then offer the person at the front of the line 200 yuan for their cup of milk tea. They’ll definitely sell it to you."

"Who wouldn’t choose to make an easy 200 yuan over drinking a cup of milk tea today?"

Just as Jiang Fan finished speaking, a look of delight spread across Rong Anyao’s face. "Jiang, are you secretly a genius?"

"Get outta here. It’s just a matter of appealing to their self-interest."

"If it were me, and someone offered me 200 yuan, I’d stand there for three hours and wait in line for them."

"After all, sometimes you can work hard all day and not even make 200 yuan."

"You need to understand the hardships of the world."

Jiang Fan reached out and stroked her hair.

Sure enough, Rong Anyao pulled two red bills from her pocket and went straight to the boy at the very front of the line.

After a brief negotiation, the boy handed his milk tea directly to her.

He then left the line, looking thrilled.

’What kind of damn milk tea is worth 200 yuan??’

’He had only wanted to give it a try and see what was so good about it that so many people were lining up.’

"Jiang, I have to say, that method really works."

"Alright, that’s enough. Don’t be so naive."

Seeing her eager expression, Jiang Fan knew she was definitely thinking of trying the same method on other things.

’She might have experienced hardship before, but she’s clearly never experienced how dangerous people can be.’

"Come on. You’ve had something to eat and drink, let’s go browse somewhere else."

Jiang Fan had a clear goal in mind.
