The Goddess CEO Fell in Love with Me
Chapter 190: A Grand Gesture
Chapter 190: Chapter 190: A Grand Gesture
"I thank you on their behalf."
Jiang Fan gazed at the photos, his fingers gently tracing over them. It was as if he were looking back at his own childhood.
Yin Ruxue sat quietly beside him, careful not to disturb him.
When they finally arrived, the yawning children headed back into the orphanage.
Only then did Jiang Fan put the photos away.
"Mengmeng, we’re going to be staying here tonight, too."
"You won’t be sleeping with Mommy and Daddy tonight. You’ll need to try sleeping with the other children."
Mengmeng was trailing behind the other children when Yin Ruxue took her little hand and whispered in her ear.
"Huh? Really? That’s great!"
Mengmeng was quite happy. She didn’t have many friends of her own, which was a shame for such a lively and adorable girl.
She usually got bored with no one to play with, but now she suddenly had so many new friends. It was only natural for a child to want to play longer instead of going home.
"We’re not going home?"
After Mengmeng ran off, Jiang Fan asked, puzzled.
"Since we came here for the experience, we might as well get the full one. Besides, there’s no harm in it."
"I assume there’s a place for us to stay?"
Yin Ruxue stretched, her perfect S-curve on full display.
"Don’t worry, there’s definitely a place for us to stay."
Jiang Fan nodded. "I’ll go get it ready for you in a little while."
"Alright."
The two of them walked into the orphanage, chatting as they went.
Jiang Fan noticed, however, that Yin Ruxue kept checking her watch.
She’d checked it three times in the last twenty minutes.
"Is something the matter? If you have somewhere to be, you can head back first."
"I’ll watch Mengmeng. Don’t worry, nothing will go wrong."
Jiang Fan said, choosing his words carefully.
"Huh? Why do you ask all of a sudden?"
Yin Ruxue, who had been gazing toward the orphanage entrance, suddenly turned to him with a strange look in her eyes.
"I noticed you keep checking the time."
"Is something wrong at the company?"
"The company group chat seemed quiet today. Looked like just the usual work arrangements."
Jiang Fan casually pulled over a chair and sat down.
Then he nudged another chair toward Yin Ruxue with his foot.
To Yin Ruxue, his casual posture at that moment seemed to have a hint of flair.
She shook her head, pushing the strange thought from her mind, and then said, "No, it’s just that my delivery is twenty minutes late."
"I have a strong dislike for tardiness."
"Whether it’s in business or personal life."
"It shows a lack of respect for the other person."
Just as they were speaking, and he was about to ask what she had bought, a truck pulled up to the orphanage entrance.
"It’s here."
Yin Ruxue stood up first and walked to the entrance. Following behind her, Jiang Fan saw that the truck was loaded with all sorts of parts.
The kind of parts used for assembling various types of playground equipment.
"I felt the play equipment here at the orphanage was a bit lacking, so I ordered a complete set of new equipment."
"There are also some toys for the children. Just consider it my gift to them."
This sudden gesture from Yin Ruxue was something Jiang Fan had not expected at all.
"Seriously, what you’ve done... I’m really touched."
Jiang Fan scratched his head.
"To be honest, I hadn’t even thought of doing this, even though this is all stuff I yearned for when I was a kid."
A self-deprecating, bitter smile appeared on his face.
"You’ve already done more than enough. Grandma told me all about it."
"Hardly anyone else would spend such a large sum of money just to give the children a better life."
"Ma’am, so sorry, we got stuck in a bit of traffic."
"We’re a little late. Where would you like us to unload all this?"
The truck driver scrambled down from his cab and hurried over, apologizing profusely to the two of them.
Jiang Fan was about to speak, but Yin Ruxue stopped him.
"You’re half an hour past our agreed-upon delivery time. The drive from your company to here only takes about thirty minutes."
"It isn’t evening rush hour. I placed this order with you at noon, and loading it should have taken two hours at most."
"Yet you still managed to be half an hour late. It makes me seriously suspect you stopped to switch out my order for inferior, defective products."
"I want to see the certificate of authenticity for every single item. If there are any issues, I will be coming after your company."
"And your company will be held legally responsible!"
"Well..."
The driver was stunned. Jiang Fan could even see cold sweat beading on his forehead.
"Don’t tell me there’s actually a problem with your products?"
"No, no! We have the certificate for every item! If we sign the contract now, I can even add a three-year warranty."
The driver had no other choice but to grit his teeth and make the offer.
Only then did Yin Ruxue nod slowly. "Assemble it."
"Go gather the children inside and let them rest. I’ll have the workers start the assembly."
"We’ll surprise them with it when it’s all done."
"Alright."
The two exchanged a smile, a perfect understanding passing between them without a word.
Yin Ruxue then began directing the workers, who quickly started assembling the playground equipment, while Jiang Fan played with the children inside.
Since the equipment consisted of large, pre-fabricated parts, assembly wasn’t difficult.
A carousel, a slide, swings, a seesaw, a webbed climbing structure...
There were also all sorts of balls, pull-along toys, building blocks, a playhouse, toy cars, jigsaw puzzles, sand toys, tricycles with helmets, bicycles, and educational puzzles...
She had bought one of everything she could think of.
Before long, the entire yard had been transformed into a small amusement park.
The dean and Li Qian’Er stood in the distance, watching everything unfold.
"Grandma... I actually think she’s great. She seems so kind-hearted."
"She carries herself with grace, is well-spoken, and so charitable."
"I almost feel like Jiang isn’t good enough for her."
Li Qian’Er said, wrinkling her nose.
"Oh? And who was it that used to follow him around every day when you were little, saying you were going to marry him?"
"And now you’re saying he isn’t good enough for her?"
The dean couldn’t help but tease.
"Oh, Grandma, come on! I was just a kid back then!"
"I’m different now! I’m all grown up!"
"I..."
But as she looked at the back of Jiang Fan’s figure in the classroom, the words caught in her throat.
"Qian’Er, it’s time you started thinking about your own future."
The dean sighed, her voice soft.
