Chapter 245: Chapter 245: Looking for Trouble (Part 2)

In an instant, Jiang Fan shot up from the sofa, his gaze exceptionally grim.

Jun Yue rushed over. "We have to go back, now! There’s trouble at the orphanage!" 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

"I know."

The aura around Jiang Fan suddenly turned exceptionally brutal. The orphanage had always been his reverse scale.

A dragon has a reverse scale—touch it, and face its wrath!

He slammed the pedal to the metal, cutting a thirty-minute drive down to just fifteen. He must have broken countless traffic laws along the way, but neither he nor Jun Yue paid them any mind.

SCREECH...

The sound of screeching brakes drew everyone’s attention.

A dozen or so figures stood in the orphanage courtyard. Director Grandma sat in the middle of the main hall, all the orphanage’s children behind her. Li Qian’Er had a bright red palm print on her face, with a trickle of blood at the corner of her mouth.

Li Qian’Er’s expression visibly relaxed when she saw Jiang Fan and Jun Yue.

"Is this the person you were waiting for?"

A sneer tugged at the corner of the mouth of the middle-aged man sitting on a stool beneath the large tree in the front yard.

"And here I thought you had some kind of trump card."

"I call you Director out of courtesy, old hag. But without that courtesy, what are you?"

"Hand over the goods, now. Or this kid here is getting his legs broken. And these two little ladies... heh heh, don’t blame my brothers if they get a little thirsty!"

The man’s eyes roved over Jun Yue and Li Qian’Er.

Jiang Fan’s eyes narrowed.

"Liu Quan, Director Grandpa used all of it! You knew he was terminally ill! How could there possibly be anything left!?"

Tears streamed down Director Grandma’s face, her eyes filled with heartache.

"So you’re Liu Quan? The animal from back then?"

Jiang Fan stepped forward slowly, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"If Director Grandpa and Director Grandma hadn’t saved you from a pack of wild dogs, you’d probably be a pile of dog shit by now, wouldn’t you?"

"And now you’re back to bite the hand that fed you?"

The middle-aged man’s expression darkened. This was the most humiliating moment of his life. Only those two old fossils knew about it, so how could this young man possibly know?

"Who the hell are you? Get him! Smash his mouth in first!"

Liu Quan shouted, giving orders to his men.

"Liu Quan, you animal!! Aren’t you afraid of the authorities!?"

Director Grandma shot to her feet, but the sudden rage made her break into a fit of coughing.

"It’s alright, Grandma. Don’t worry!"

Jiang Fan reassured her, then turned to glance at Jun Yue. She gave him a slight nod.

The next second, a savage grin spread across Jiang Fan’s face.

He raised his hand and slapped one of the advancing goons across the face.

The goon spun in place several times, a spray of saliva, blood, and teeth arcing through the air before his eyes rolled back in his head and he collapsed, unconscious.

The move stunned everyone present. Even Liu Quan’s eyes narrowed. His men were all skilled fighters. Li Qian’Er herself was no pushover, but the fact that she had been overpowered by them was a testament to their strength.

"Kid, who the hell are you?! I suggest you stay out of this. The consequences are more than you can handle!"

Liu Quan roared.

But the fear in his eyes told everyone he wasn’t nearly as confident as he sounded.

"Is that so?"

Jiang Fan just sneered. "Don’t worry. You’re next."

Then, as if he had eyes in the back of his head, he backhanded another man across the face, knocking his teeth out.

"All of you, get him! The kid’s a trained martial artist!"

Someone shouted from the crowd, and more than a dozen men rushed him at once. But Jiang Fan seemed not to see them, maintaining his own steady rhythm.

Every time, a single slap. And every slap knocked one of them unconscious.

Without exception, all dozen-plus men met the same fate, whether they attacked with fists or feet.

As if taking a leisurely stroll, Jiang Fan calmly walked right up to Liu Quan. "You’re the one called Liu Quan?"

Jiang Fan slapped him across the face. Liu Quan’s left cheek instantly swelled up, the single blow distorting his face.

"Answer me. You’re Liu Quan?"

He followed with a backhand to the other cheek.

Now, he was symmetrical.

"You’re finished, kid! I’m telling you, you’re finished!! You’re going to rot in jail for this!!"

Liu Quan slurred, staring venomously at Jiang Fan’s face as if trying to brand the image into his very bones.

"You’re Liu Quan?"

Jiang Fan didn’t ask anything else, nor did he offer any answers. He just repeated that one simple question.

And with each question came another slap to the face.

He remembered this man from when he was very young. It was, in fact, a memory seared into his mind.

Director Grandpa’s death was largely this man’s fault. If he hadn’t gotten addicted to gambling and had debt collectors chase him all the way to the orphanage, Director Grandpa wouldn’t have been forced to use all of his own treatment money to pay off the debt.

After the debt was paid, Liu Quan showed no restraint. Instead, he acted completely entitled, hiding at the orphanage every time he got into trouble.

Eventually, even the debt collectors didn’t have the heart to show up anymore, because the orphanage was in such dire straits they could barely afford to eat.

But this animal felt no remorse. In fact, he only grew more audacious.

In the end, Director Grandpa passed away. Director Grandma, her heart thoroughly broken by Liu Quan’s actions, finally threw him out and severed all ties.

Jiang Fan crouched down, looking down on Liu Quan, who lay there like a dead dog. "You’re Liu Quan?"

This time, he drove a fist straight into his stomach.

"Boss, spare me! I’ll never do it again, I swear! I’m sorry!!!"

Liu Quan could no longer stand the despair, his earlier arrogance completely gone.

"Go kneel over there."

Jiang Fan pointed to the entrance of the main hall.

"She’s just an old..."

The next second, Liu Quan’s words were cut off as Jiang Fan’s hand clamped around his throat, lifting him into the air. "You think you have the right to insult her?"

As Jiang Fan squeezed, Liu Quan felt his consciousness start to fade.

It was the closest he’d been to death in years.

"Fan!"

Director Grandma couldn’t help but call out in a worried whisper.
