Chapter 246: Chapter 246: Drama

Although she didn’t know why her grandson had suddenly become so formidable, she was afraid!

Afraid that he might really kill this scumbag in a fit of rage.

He had a bright future ahead of him, and she would never allow him to throw it all away for the likes of this man.

The Director’s cry snapped him back to his senses. Jiang Fan casually tossed Liu Quan in front of the main hall and turned to Li Qian’Er.

"Qian’Er, take the children back to bed."

"Junyue, you go too."

Jiang Fan took a deep breath to calm himself, his voice softening.

"Qian’Er and the two helpers can handle it."

Jun Yue didn’t leave. Instead, she went to the Director’s side.

"Grandma, don’t you worry, and don’t be afraid. Fan knows his limits. What did this scumbag come here for?"

Jun Yue gently patted the Director’s back, asking in a soft voice.

"The three-hundred-year-old wild ginseng your grandfather left behind. It’s meant to save a life..."

The Director sighed. ’Innocence is no defense when you possess a treasure.’

"Keep playing dead, and I’ll make sure you die here for real."

Jiang Fan walked over to Liu Quan and said coolly.

The next moment, Liu Quan’s eyes snapped open, and he scrambled to his knees, facing the Director.

He paid no mind to his injuries.

"Talk. Who sent you?"

Jiang Fan casually sat on the doorstep, leaning against the frame.

"Fan, please, just let me go this one time! I’m begging you! I swear I’ll never do it again! I’ll scram right now and get far, far away. I’ll never set foot in this place again!"

Liu Quan slammed his forehead against the ground. THUD. THUD. THUD.

Jiang Fan said nothing, merely watching him calmly. The Director tried to speak several times, but Jun Yue stopped her each time.

"I won’t let a venomous snake lie in wait, especially a heartless beast like you."

"Go on, call the person backing you. Otherwise, this isn’t getting resolved tonight."

’He wasn’t just bluffing. Liu Quan wouldn’t have dared to be so arrogant and threatening unless he had someone backing him up.’

’His goal now was to rip this problem out by the roots. He couldn’t allow any threat to the welfare institute to remain.’

"I’ll give you half an hour. If no one shows up by then, you’ll suffer a fate worse than death."

Jiang Fan delivered the most brutal of threats in the calmest of tones.

Liu Quan glanced at Jiang Fan, then at the Director. Finally, with trembling hands, he pulled out his phone and made a call.

"Boss, I’m at the Grand Welfare Institute. There’s been trouble. I’m down more than a dozen guys..."

"Wait there. I’ll be there soon."

The reply was short and to the point. An imperceptible glint of cruelty flashed deep in Liu Quan’s eyes.

Jiang Fan’s expression flickered. He turned to the Director. "Grandma, I’m hungry. Is there anything left to eat?"

Jiang Fan asked, rubbing his stomach.

"There’s still some in the kitchen..."

The Director answered instinctively, but before she could finish, Jiang Fan stood up, went to her side, and took her hand. "Grandma, could you heat it up for me, please? I’m starving."

"Alright. You... you be careful. You must not take a life."

The Director couldn’t possibly refuse Jiang Fan’s gentle tone.

Jun Yue gave him a deep, meaningful look before helping the Director leave.

The only ones left in the front courtyard were Liu Quan, still kneeling, and the group of unconscious men lying outside.

Liu Quan, who had been staring into space, suddenly felt a chill run through his body for no apparent reason.

"This scene look familiar?"

Jiang Fan sat back down on the doorstep, watching him in silence. After a long moment, he spoke.

"If a person has no conscience, they don’t deserve to be called human. Whatever you do in life, you have to be able to live with your own conscience!"

"Director Grandpa and Director Grandma taught us that since we were kids. To live and act with a clear conscience. So I have to wonder, where’s yours?"

"Liu Quan. You were on the verge of death when Director Grandpa saved you from a pack of wild dogs. And how did you repay him?"

"You even schemed to take the money that was meant to save his life? Weren’t those people you brought here just actors you hired for a little show?"

Liu Quan’s head snapped up. "How did you know...?"

His voice was raspy.

"You think Director Grandpa couldn’t see through your act? Why do you think he still gave you the money?"

"Why do you think he always tried to comfort you and give you advice? Just to waste his breath?"

Jiang Fan could no longer contain his rage. He lashed out, kicking Liu Quan in the chest and sending him flying three or four meters.

"Did you take everything he taught you and just throw it to the dogs?"

If not for the last shred of sanity holding him back, he would have killed the scumbag right then and there.

Liu Quan lay on the ground like a dead dog, not daring to move. ’I have to live,’ he thought. ’The good times are just about to start. A life of power and prestige is waiting for me.’

’I can’t die here!’

’I just have to endure this for a little longer. The boss is already on his way with more men.’

Even if Jiang Fan told him to eat shit right now, he wouldn’t hesitate for a second.

Looking at Liu Quan playing dead, Jiang Fan suddenly lost any desire to lecture him further. He couldn’t even be bothered to hit him anymore. The man simply disgusted him.

The minutes ticked by. Outside the welfare institute, a fleet of vans screeched to a halt, and scores of men poured out.

But their leader was someone Jiang Fan found very familiar.

As the light illuminated the man’s face, Jiang Fan grinned.

Liu Quan scrambled to his feet like a dog, shot Jiang Fan a venomous glare, and ran toward Nalan Jia.

This was none other than Nalan Jia, one of the three men he had met the other day!

"Boss..."

Liu Quan had barely gotten the word out before Nalan Jia sent him flying with a kick.

"Who is this mutt? If my brother lost so much as a single hair on his head, I’ll skin you alive!"

Sprawled on the ground, Liu Quan was clearly stunned. Then, goosebumps erupted all over his skin, and a chill seized him, as if he’d been plunged into a frozen lake.

"You alright, little brother?"

Nalan Jia looked Jiang Fan up and down, breathing a sigh of relief when he saw he was completely unharmed.

Ever since his wife had come back from her last visit, her spirits had lifted considerably. She had hope for the future now, and sometimes he would even catch her smiling without realizing it.

The moment Liu Quan had mentioned the Grand Welfare Institute on the phone just now, he knew what was happening.

After their last meeting, he’d had his people do a thorough background check on the welfare institute. He’d learned a lot, and had even received copies of the documents issued by the education department.

He naturally understood that Jiang Fan and Jun Yue hadn’t been lying to him. They were genuinely trying to do good for the children of the welfare institute.

That was why he had arrived so quickly. As for Liu Quan... who the hell was that piece of trash?
