Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Crazy

Seeing her like this, Jiang Fan chuckled.

"Is this how you ask for help?"

"Besides, Manager Li... President Li... you haven’t fallen for me, have you?"

Jiang Fan showily flicked his hair back with a toss of his head. "I know I’m devastatingly handsome and charming enough to make countless girls swoon, but you don’t have to fixate on me."

"Screw you! I’d fall for a dog before I’d ever fall for you!"

Li Muwan’s face flushed red, but her words remained sharp.

Jiang Fan shrugged, noncommittal.

"What’s this clever idea of yours? Spit it out!"

"I’m tired. And thirsty. Could use a drink."

Jiang Fan looked up at the sky, feigning nonchalance.

"Screw you! Are you going to tell me or not? If you don’t, I swear I’ll run you over today!"

His teasing had gotten to her, and she threatened him fiercely.

"Alright, alright, I’ll talk! What’s the rush?"

Jiang Fan rolled his eyes and quickly relented. ’When a woman goes crazy, she’s capable of anything.’

"The key is the batch of first-grade stock."

"What do you mean?"

Li Muwan frowned slightly, not quite understanding.

"Instead of throwing the stock out, we could use it for a special promotion. Especially in the underperforming stores. If we make it a big enough event, we should be able to recoup some of our losses, right?"

"It would even drive a huge amount of foot traffic."

"It could bring those stores back from the dead."

"But..."

Li Muwan was still worried. She was no fool; she had already considered this the moment Jiang Fan started speaking.

But to her, the method was risky. Xuerong had plenty of competitors, and someone was bound to use this against them and blow it out of proportion.

"We’ll just add a disclaimer: ’Final interpretation reserved by the company. This is a promotional gift item.’"

"Besides, a lot of our products aren’t high-end anyway. We have budget-friendly lines too."

"We can be clever with the promotion. If you buy one set, we give one piece away for free."

"Buy two sets, we give a whole set away. It’s all free. That way, if anyone tries to sue us later, it’s legally a gift."

"And we have so much of this stock, we can supply almost all of our stores."

"A huge wave of foot traffic will inevitably lead to more orders."

As Jiang Fan rattled on, he didn’t notice the subtle shift in Li Muwan’s gaze.

"Have you really never studied business management or anything like that?"

Jiang Fan shook his head.

"Then you’re really cut out for business. You have a natural knack for it."

Li Muwan said with utter seriousness.

"Yeah, right. I was practically starving to death not long ago. Some business mind I have."

Jiang Fan just took it as a compliment.

"Come on, get in the car!"

Li Muwan said abruptly.

"Where are we going? It’s already so late."

"I need to get home and sleep."

"You mean go home and sleep with Xue’Er, right?"

Li Muwan scoffed.

"So you can go sleep with her, but you can’t spend a little time with me?"

"Fine. Then get lost."

"Whoa, whoa, hold on. You’re my boss. Of course I can spend time with you."

Jiang Fan quickly grabbed the car door.

She had really been about to drive off.

"Get in!"

Her cold tone made Jiang Fan purse his lips.

’If it weren’t for the paycheck, I wouldn’t put up with this crap.’

"What are you muttering about over there?"

Her eyes locked onto him as she gripped the steering wheel tightly.

"Nothing, nothing! You drive, you drive."

Jiang Fan said quickly with an apologetic smile.

"VROOOM!"

The roar of the engine echoed through the street as the car shot forward like an arrow released from a bow.

The powerful force of acceleration pinned Jiang Fan to his seat, and he gripped the handle tightly.

"Hey, do we really need to go this fast?!"

Jiang Fan swallowed hard. ’This is just like that movie Speed. It’s terrifying.’

One wrong move and he could really lose his life.

Li Muwan completely ignored him.

She just kept flooring it, her foot pressing the accelerator to the metal.

Luckily, it was the dead of night, so there were hardly any pedestrians or other cars on the road.

They tore through the streets until they reached the desolate outskirts of the city.

Not only were there no more cars, but even the streetlights disappeared.

Yet Li Muwan was still accelerating.

"Lady Knight! Big sister! Have mercy on me!!"

"I haven’t even gotten married yet! I really don’t want to die!"

Jiang Fan’s face was a mask of misery, his voice trembling.

At this point, he didn’t dare move a muscle.

’He was terrified of provoking Li Muwan. What if her hand slipped... she drifted, and they both ended up dead right here?’

"Scared already? I thought you were so brave."

Li Muwan scoffed.

But she did start to slow down.

She also rolled down the window, and the cool night air filled their lungs.

It offered some relief to Jiang Fan, who had been breaking out in a cold sweat.

"What was that all about? Why’d you suddenly go crazy like that?"

"Hmph."

But Li Muwan ignored him completely, finding a remote spot to pull over.

"Get out!"

"No. I’m not getting out."

Jiang Fan gripped the overhead handle with both hands.

"You’re going to abandon me here! I have no idea how to get back."

Seeing how pathetic he looked, Li Muwan couldn’t help but laugh in exasperation.

"Relax, I’m not going to leave you here. I want you to have a drink with me!"

"A drink?"

"You? Drink?"

"Are you getting out or not? If you don’t, I really will leave you here."

"Alright, alright!"

Unable to win against her, Jiang Fan had no choice but to open the door and get out. Li Muwan popped the trunk and pulled out a case of beer.

She tossed it onto the grass beside her and sat down right there.

She popped open a can, tilted her head back, and chugged half of it.

Li Muwan gazed at the twinkling stars. "This is actually the first time I’ve ever acted so crazy. I’ve never done anything like this before."

For some reason, Jiang Fan could hear the exhaustion in her voice.

Jiang Fan didn’t know what she had been through in her past, so he didn’t feel it was his place to say anything.

He just raised the can in his hand. "Some things are best left to the drink. The future will be better. The past is something to look back on, but it shouldn’t be a cage."

With that, he tilted his head back and finished the can.

"Well said. You’re right. We can remember the past, but we can’t let ourselves be trapped by it."

Li Muwan copied Jiang Fan’s bold gesture, downing the rest of her beer and casually tossing the empty can to the ground.

"PSSSHHT."

Another can.

"Let’s just go completely wild tonight!"

After finishing another can, Li Muwan suddenly turned to look at Jiang Fan.

"It’s a good thing you’re here tonight."

It was a strange thing to say.

But Jiang Fan raised an eyebrow. He had a feeling he knew what she meant.
