The Goddess CEO Fell in Love with Me
Chapter 88: Want to Have It All?
Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Want to Have It All?
If Jiang Fan had just openly admitted his relationship with Li Muwan, she wouldn’t have said anything. She might have even thought it showed a man’s proper boldness and courage.
But what was all this hiding and concealing about?
’Trying to have it all?’
’Hmph.’
As she mulled it over, Yin Ruxue couldn’t help but snort coldly.
Jiang Fan, who had already settled down with his eyes closed, suddenly opened them to glance at her. He had been facing her but immediately rolled over to turn his back to her.
To Yin Ruxue, this looked like he didn’t dare to face her.
But she subconsciously overlooked one thing: Jiang Fan wasn’t her husband.
Even though they were lying in the same bed, nothing had happened between them.
She had no standing, no right from any angle, to be jealous.
Jiang Fan didn’t know what Yin Ruxue was freaking out about, but he couldn’t be bothered with it. He was exhausted after a long day and had used up a ton of brain cells—something more terrifying than fighting someone for three hundred rounds.
Not long after lying down, the sound of soft snores began to fill the air.
Listening to Jiang Fan’s snores, Yin Ruxue, though grinding her teeth in frustration, felt a strange sense of peace rise within her. Before she knew it, she had fallen asleep too.
When she woke up the next morning, she found that Jiang Fan and Mengmeng were both gone.
"Nanny Chen, where’s Mengmeng?"
"What time is it? Why didn’t you wake me?"
"Miss, the Young Master took Mengmeng to school."
"He specifically told me not to wake you. He said you’ve been too tired lately and should get some proper rest."
"Also, breakfast is ready."
"Okay."
Hearing that it was Jiang Fan’s arrangement, half of Yin Ruxue’s anger instantly dissipated.
But the image of the hickey on his body from last night surfaced in her mind, and she couldn’t help but let out a cold snort, making Nanny Chen, who was standing nearby, tremble.
She thought Yin Ruxue was still dwelling on that past incident with Li Xiangyang.
Fortunately, she didn’t say anything more, which allowed Nanny Chen to breathe a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, Jiang Fan walked into the office just in the nick of time. He was about to look for Li Muwan but was told she had left early in the morning to discuss a collaboration.
He printed out the proposal and left it on her desk. For a moment, he found himself with nothing to do.
Watching his busy colleagues, Jiang Fan pulled out his phone.
DING-DONG.
He hadn’t even been playing for a minute when a notification popped up on his phone.
’Is it the 15th today? Time to pay the rent?’
Jiang Fan stroked his chin, thinking.
’It’s a bit of a waste for me to live in that apartment by myself.’
’Paying rent for two people all alone... There’s no need for that.’
After swiping the notification away, Jiang Fan quietly left the office.
He planned to sneak out and find a cheaper apartment. He had nothing to do anyway, and Li Muwan would definitely call him when she got back.
He could just drive back then. It wasn’t far, after all.
"Where are you going during work hours?"
Jiang Fan had just driven to the company entrance, about to head out, when Su Qingci stopped him.
"Ahem, I’m heading out to take care of some work."
Jiang Fan lied through his teeth with a perfectly straight face.
"Is that so?"
Su Qingci gave Jiang Fan a dangerous look, but for some reason, she waved for someone to open the gate.
Jiang Fan couldn’t be bothered with the details. He drove straight to his old apartment.
He pulled out the suitcase stashed under his bed, patted the dust off it, and stuffed all his clothes, toiletries, and other belongings inside.
Luckily, he didn’t have many possessions. The most valuable things were probably himself and his electric toothbrush.
He’d gotten it from a delivery order back when he was a courier. A guy in a long-distance relationship had bought it for his girlfriend, only to find out she was cheating on him.
In a fit of anger, the guy gave the gift to Jiang Fan and told him to do whatever he wanted with it.
’A toothbrush this expensive? Of course, I’m keeping it for myself.’
"Jiang Fan, are you not renting anymore?"
Just as Jiang Fan stepped out the door, an old man holding a long-stemmed pipe walked over.
"Mr. Liu, Wu Qiang moved out, so it’s a bit too expensive for me to live here alone."
"I’m going to find a new place."
"Alright. Where are you planning to rent? I’ll see if I have any properties over there."
"Huh??"
Jiang Fan had a look of pure confusion on his face.
"Wait a second, Mr. Liu, just how many properties do you have?"
"Probably a few dozen. I got a lot when they did the demolitions and relocations back in the day."
"Plus, with all the reforms and demolitions over the years, I’ve accumulated quite a few more."
"It’s fine if I don’t have one there. Just tell me where you’ll be working, and I can buy a place nearby for you."
"I’ll give you a discount on the rent. After all, we’ve known each other for years."
"But you better remember this, kid. Next time we play chess, you have to go easy on me!"
"Stop fucking wiping the floor with me. Do you have any idea how long Old Zhao laughed at me last time? For half a month!"
Speaking of which, Mr. Liu got so worked up he looked like he wanted to grab his pipe and smack Jiang Fan with it.
"Mr. Liu, calm down, calm down. So, Mr. Zhao was laughing at you, huh? Don’t worry, I’ll help you get back at him later."
Jiang Fan said quickly with an apologetic smile.
Mr. Liu had been genuinely good to him. When Jiang Fan first arrived here with only 300 yuan, he had no money for rent or food. The little he had was spent after buying a few necessities.
It was Mr. Liu who took him in with a grand wave of his hand, letting him move in first and pay the rent later when he had the money.
Mr. Liu was an avid chess player, and Jiang Fan had learned a thing or two from him. But later, the student surpassed the master.
The two gradually became friends despite their age gap.
Even Mr. Liu was envious of his "Godly Moves" and had always wanted to learn them.
"There’s no need, Mr. Liu."
"I’ll just find a place myself. You don’t need to go out of your way to buy one."
Jiang Fan politely declined. Mr. Liu had always taken great care of him, and he didn’t want to trouble the man again at a time like this.
"You’re a good kid in every way, except for that damn stubborn streak of yours."
"Why are you being so polite with an old man like me?"
"It’s mainly just too much trouble. It’s not necessary. I’ll just find a slightly cheaper place on my own."
"I’ll come back to play chess with you when I’m free. I’ve got things to do, so I’ll get going."
"For the security deposit, just transfer me 1,000 later on your phone. Use the rest to buy yourself some fruit."
Jiang Fan was in a hurry to find an apartment.
Just as he put his luggage in the trunk of his car, he got a call from Wu Qiang.
This was the first time Wu Qiang had called him in the long time since he had moved out.
"Yo, what’s up? Has the rich lady sucked you dry? Now you remember your bro?"
Jiang Fan couldn’t help but tease.
But Wu Qiang didn’t retort as he had expected. Instead, he hesitated for a long time before saying, "Jiang Fan, I want to get married."
"She said she wants to marry me."
Jiang Fan could tell that Wu Qiang was being very solemn and serious when he said this.
"Wait, are you crazy? How long has it even been since you two met and got together?"
"Aren’t you afraid of getting scammed?"
